no where inkeralacurry is spicy like this , is it for drunkards who take pickle as spicy food , kumarkom has to learn that kadala curry and veg curry never looks so red and drenched with oil

appam and puttu were good. kadala curry was not good. it had so much oil floating on top, tamil nadu style. it's notkeralakadala curry. if you wantkeralastyle kadala curry, order from kumarakom guindy, not from perungudi.

i have had some of the bestkeralafood ever here. beef ularthiyathu, chicken, beef and mutton biryani and veg meals. but the quality/taste is not very consistent. 40 percent of the time at least you get chewy beef and biryani with no spice/salt. they don't add dalda/ vanaspati in their biryani unlike mostkeralarestaurants, so it's healthier. wish they maintain higher quality and consistency

these guys have their mallu game on point.
this truly is 'that mallu joint'.

review based on dine in as well as delivery.

food:
beef ularthiyadu - amazing. reminds me of home. one of the best in the city.
karimeen pollichadu - nice, wish it had more gravy though in the leaf.
meals - this is my go to place for the meals because it's perfect.

interesting comparison point: another restaurant which has mallu food is ente keralam. comparison wise the food at kumarakom is more authentic in terms of the level of spice and flavour. it's not bland or altered to suit the local market in any way. so if you're looking for authentic, then this is what it is.

delivery of meals:
was initially skeptical, but then was blown away. it comes wrapped in a banana leaf with the necessary condiments packed. it's just right in terms if quantity, unless you wish to eat till it's up till your neck.

overall: great experience couldn't ask for more from akeralarestaurant in chennai.

i love thier beef ularthiyadhu!!! best dish ever.
thekeralameals is nice too (sometimes to spicy kootu) - i have it when i feel bored of my home food. malabar biriyani deserves a mention.

brings out the malayali inside you. this restaurant has maintained its standards and has provided the bestkeralafood to the tamils. anytime you wanna have akeralameal you can reach out and have your favourite appam and beef roast. the price will make your pockets a little lighter but tryst me you won’t regret about it. because its good food.

had a craving forkeralabreakfast, puttu and kadala curry was what i had in mind. took a foodie friend along and immediately decided where we were going – tharayil kitchen, in perungudi! remembered one of the posts in a food group, decided to try!. we were in for a rude shock, it was closed ! quite disappointed, but still we were not willing to give up 🙂 quickly scanned zomato to check if there was any otherkeralarestaurant in the vicinity that served breakfast. thankfully, there was one called malabar camboose. their menu in zomato did have puttu and kadala curry in it. no second thoughts, headed to that place following the directions on google maps. we reached the exact location that was mentioned. there was c.m. hospital on omr, but no trace of this restaurant. quickly checked with locals, none of them seemed to know! so much effort and confusion for puttu and kadala curry, it felt horrible! perhaps they closed down and was not reflecting in zomato, not sure.
