before hitting the kealia trail on the north shore of oahu, we stopped by kono’s restaurant in haleiwa for a quick breakfast. kono’s is a great local spot that serves great food in a casual atmosphere. you’ll find both locals and tourists here. counter at kono’s as you enter the restaurant, you’ll see the menu written on a huge blackboard behind the counter. it may look overwhelming because there’s so many delicious items to try. if you like breakfast wraps, try one of their six breakfast bombers , a warm tortilla filled with seasoned yukon gold potatoes, scrambled eggs, jack and cheddar cheese inside. served with house salsa, you’ve got a lot to choose from: local – portuguese sausage waimea – crispy bacon haleiwa – kaluapigpupukea - roasted veggies wendy’s - roasted veggies & bacon sunset – just potato, eggs & cheese kaluapigbreakfast bomber the “haleiwa” was squealing my name. the kaluapigwas smokey and delicious. i’ve never had it in a burrito, and i’m glad i tried it. maybe
