highly suggest the scallops and grits! served with a balsamic reduction - a fabulous dish!

great food, service needs improvement. we had dinner at kingfish on a saturday night. from a food perspective, it was a great visit. we had the oysters thermidor (delicious!!), the "junky chick" rotisserie, and seafood cassoulet. the chicken was probably the best i've had, and the seafood cassoulet had the perfect amount of spice and substance. however, the service was horrible. we waited for at least 10 minutes before a server came to take our drink order, and then it was delay after delay from there. i'm a big fan of a leasurely dinner, but 20 minutes to get a drink is not acceptable. i'd definitely go back though, as the food was worth it. once the service issues are solved, kingfish will be a great restaurant.

while the food (especially the appetizers) was delicious, the service was terrible. we were there for a late bachelorette dinner and looking to continue our good time. the bad service and time it took to get our food out unfortunately left us feeling exceptionally unacommodated, and we probably won't be back.

with chef greg sonnier in the kitchen, you can count on solid, well-executed meals with some interesting twists. the management and waitstaff are pros, too. the negative comments must be due to off nights or more likely, inexperienced diners or people with an axe to grind.

down here on vacation for the weekend and never heard of this place before but i passed by it, and it looked nice and looked like a nice new orleans place to eat. was so glad to come!

the food was fantastic. i got the crispy fried chicken. it had a huge piece of fried chicken on top of some collards all in a buttery, creamy hot sauce. i'm not sure what all was in the spicy sauce, but it was fantastic. it added a layer of heat without overpowering the dish. the collards were very tasty and the chicken was crispy and fried to perfection.

the bill was very reasonable and most items are $15-$20. the portion was well worth the price. the service was great. the atmosphere was very modern and sleek. had no complaints. just wish i could experience this place again before leaving, but i'm not sure i'll get the chance. will definitely stop back by whenever i come back to nola, as i'm sure their whole menu is amazing.

we came here while on a walking food tour in town. a lovely bar with half price on selected beers, wine and small plates from 14:00 to 19:00. central location, friendly service, good food and wine. try the gumbo

great happy hour selection compared to the usual 2 for 1 s offered all round the quarters. instead of a plastic cup one sits in a classy surrounding in a historical building. the drinks came pretty fast after some confusion of our seating.

the happy hour was extensive in bottled beers, talking craft not typical budweiser...eeek

cocktails there are six to choose from had about four southerns so excuse my spelling and grammar. they were $6!

bit of jazz of blues would have topped it off the venue was too quite.

kingfish is a popular restaurant and cocktail bar in the french quarter, that tips its hat to the huey p. long era. the kingfish menu embodies new louisiana cuisine, with traditional options and fun new twist.  during dinner, there may even be a pianist playing classic new orleans tunes. overall, nice atmosphere and excellent happy hour.

great with fancy cocktails. great food. had the jambalaya, gumbo, and salad as a group and everyone was happy with the food. portions were smaller than usually accustomed too but the experience and atmosphere were worth it.

had a delicious brunch at kingfish. i've been to no plenty of times but never tried this place. i'm glad we stumbled on it. we tried the gumbo as an appetizer and it was amazing! it probably could have been a leap for one person. also, i had the steak and eggs and my wife had the jambalaya risotto. both were unreal! the risotto was so creamy and cheesy but still had a "jambalaya" taste. highly recommend that dish. also try it with the grilled chicken. we also got a side of collard greens which were very interesting. they had a slightly spicy and sweet taste. different but good.

place is quite busy and popular. lots of new orleans inspired food on the menu. we tried a selection of the starters and ended up being so full we had to cancel the mains. the waitress was super friendly and helpful. cannot remember exactly what we had but the food was excellent and the portions huge.

i'll start by saying i will return to try more. the menu had more than just a couple of thing on it i wanted to try. our meal was very good with fresh fish and meats. the greens were the best side and probably the best greens i have ever had. the kitchen catered to the kids with pasta and fried chicken not on the menu. enjoy!

for the sake of honesty in reporting, this type of place is not where i normally eat. i guess you can call it fancy casual. apparently it's impressive to serve water from a large bottle on the table, in a glass with no ice. ( same thing happened later at palace cafe) that being said, i had an excellent meal. chicken and dumplings with a seafood gumbo. i'm not a huge seafood fan, but decided to try this out since i am in new orleans. fantastic flavor. my chicken and dumplings was very good as well, even if it did seem to take forever to come out. again, this not somewhere i would normally hang out as $25 lunches (after tip) are not my thing. but, it was a great meal.
