loved this restaurant. from my experience as a hotel sales director this was the best gumbo i have ever had. very busy and busting out the seems for its small size. got agoodlaugh from prior review. waiting a year to post a review. and seriously this hater show some respect about the two planes crashing in hallway. we just got over the anniversary of 9-11. love your site. thanks

as a person who went to lsu and spent 5 years in louisiana this place was below average. not trying to say you can only havegoodfood in louisiana, i've had plenty of great new orleans/cajun style food outside of louisiana, just was not impressed with this one. not sure why it gets such a high rating.

great fried oysters. rice and beans were a little disappointing. my wife and i split a two item platter and it was agoodsize lunch for us.

fishin boat captain. this place rocks...rivals nawlins cookin but with lowcountry seafood and flare. let kenny and laverne show you agoodtime. everything is awesome

very casual, authentic new orleans. order at the counter and food is then delivered to your table. everything from jambalaya to po' boys, even beingets.goodquality and reasonably priced.

literally a hole in the wall. the food was great. and this place is within walking distance of coligny beach. i only tried this place because of urbanspoon and i am so glad i tried it. i had the shrimp poboy, the muffuletta, red beans and rice and the gumbo. allgoodpicks. can't wait to go back. also, very economical.

the food here is amazing. the shrimp and grits are sogoodthat i cannot eat that dish any place else. kids meals are served out of dog bowls which is a big hit with the kids. all the cajun food is delicious. we come here every time we visit hilton head.

cleanliness. my daughter and i visited kenny bs this morning for beignets . the beignets were very tasty and the lady behind the counter was friendly. however, the cleaniness of the place was dismal. the floors in front of the counters were filthy and the outside sittng area had not been swept. also, the area behind the counter that was visable to me looked extremely disorganized, shelves with papers and other junk piled high. the place just seemed sloppy and not very clean. i believe cleaniness is equal togoodtasting food andgoodservice.

this is the real deal.... i spent a few years in louisiana, which set quite a high bar for cajun food. in many ways, this is it. i did a walk-around and it appears that they do it right on the majors -- etouffees, gumbo, jambalaya, boudin, red beans and rice. i actually took a to-go menu to plan my next meal there! hubbie had crawfish etouffee, giant portion served with crusty french bread. kid meals were served in doggie bowls (cute!) fresh hot beignets for dessert were asgoodas they sound. next time i'd try a combo meal so i could try multiple items because it all looked fantastic. there is also a cooler with a few cold salads and delicious-looking desserts. definitely kind of divy, and located in a strip mall beside a grocery store -- not fine dining, justgoodfood at a decent price from nice people.

good but they don't believe in air conditioning!??. the food here is actually prettygoodbut our experience was ruined as our entire party practically suffocated while sitting in the restaurant. we were all sweating as the temperature felt like a roasty 85 degrees. we had to scarf everything down just to hurry up and get the heck out of there! if the owners ever read this my only advice would be to turn on the air conditioning! otherwise everyone in our party of 7 enjoyed our meals - new orleans food at it's best!

great deal, delicious food. this is a fun restaurant and prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food, especially for a place to eat on hilton head island. when we pulled up there weren't many people in here but by the time we left it was almost full (we did have dinner at 5pm on the first sunny day after a few days of rain so we figure most people were still at the beach.) you order and pay at the counter, then you sit down and the owner and/or one of his sons brings you your food. the owner is very chatty and will gladly talk with you while you wait so long as there isn't a long line of customers waiting.

we started off sharing an appetizer of gumbo. it was enough for a small meal by itself so i'm glad we shared. the gumbo was served with a pile of rice on top to mix in. it hadgoodflavor and there was plenty of seafood including shrimp in it. it would have needed to be more spicy to really be cajun gumbo but i figure they tone it down for the people who don't expect the heat. no worries though, there were four types of hot sauce on the table so you could add the heat if you wanted. the gumbo was also served with a hunk of fresh multigrain bread to dip. i had to restrain myself from filling up on bread before my meal came.

my sister ordered the fried shrimp po boy which came out on that same fresh multigrain bread; it was served with a spicy sauce that didn't kick in until my sister was halfway through her sandwich. i tried some of her sandwich and the shrimp were fresh and lightly fried, not greasy and they had too much flavor to be frozen. score a point for not using frozen fried shrimp in the po boy!

i ordered crawfish etoufee and it came out in a huge bowl served over white rice with a side of another hunk of the yummy fresh multigrain bread for dipping. i was only able to get through half before i was completely full. but i had to try out their beignets! i made the mistake of ordering 4 beignets which came out the size of footballs (okay softballs) covered in powered sugar. my sister had been slowed down by the spice of her po boy but when she saw the beignets she magically had room for more. they aren't new orleans-style beignets the way i am used to them but they hadgoodflavor and were a great end to the meal.

we powered through two of the beignets and then packed up our leftovers (half the po boy, half the crawfish etoufee, and two beignets.) the leftover main entrees were a yummy snack later that evening before bed and my sister devoured the beignets the next morning for breakfast.

p.s. the decor is cool and there are tons of things to look at while you wait and while you eat. also, they serve kids meals in dogs bowls for the georgia bulldogs (the owner is a fan and there is a lot of bulldog memorabilia around the restaurant.)

really cluttered, pretty dirty (especially in the back), and half of the breakfast buffet was probably from the freezer aisle and was just sitting there getting overlooked. some of it was just bad and i feel a little sick now. i really wish i could have some of their actual specialties but the food at brunch was really sucky. nothing went wring but the customer service was basically two kids walking around picking up dishes and the owner talking about college football for an hour. if you can't make breakfastgoodit makes me concerned for the rest of their operation. the point is that the place is really junky, feels dirty, and the breakfast buffet is okay at best.
