a nice little neighborhood bar. the service was great since i was one of the few people there. most people in the area were most likely at the capitol building at the memorial day concert. door came out fast and very hot. i think the fish was slightly over cooked. you can see how dark it is in the picture but the flavor was still good. fries were seasoned with course salt and pepper. good taste. the the beer was perfect after a long day site seeing.

we went for lunch as a group of four. we were promptly seated and we'll taken care of by our server. we ate various sandwiches and everyone enjoyed them. corned beef and pastrami were both great. i really liked the onion rings. standard bar/pub atmosphere. i thought it was a pretty reasonable price, ace to enjoy a casual lunch.

ordered the hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. it was served on a small, stale hamburger bun. disgusting, congealed gravy out of a can. if you enjoyed eating paste back in kindergarten you would love their mashed potatoes. i can't believe they were not embarrassed to serve this.

dark, dank and dirty. first time i was served corona in a can with a lime wedge sitting on the can.

speaking of cans, the bathroom in the movie trainspotting is only slightly worse than the one at kelly's.

appallingly bad.

if you love terrible service then this is the place for you. tonight we're in dc for vacation and we were staying at the hyatt. we were looking to order food late at night and found this resturant on urban spoon. the menu looked great and so did the prices. i decided to call to make sure i could order take out. he indicated that they were only offering a limited menu but i could order the wigs i saw on the menu (12 wings for $8.50). he seemed nice enough and said it would take 5-10mins. we walked to this location and it had a dive bar feel, wasn't very hip but no problem. two men were behind the bar and we stood right in front of them as they ignored us in order to finish their conversation before greeting us. rude. i could have interrupted them but i wanted to see how long they would seriously continue w/ new patrons right in front of them. they clearly lacked absolutely any basic customer service skills. so once they took the time to finish their convo, i indicated i was the person that called for the wings and 1 of the guys went to the kitchen to grab the order. he came back with the order and i took a quick peek at the wings and everything seemed in order until i was given a receipt for $11.00. i let the bartender know i had placed this order with the expectation of paying the price listed on their website. he didn't apologize for the inconsistencies just said he could fix that but the menu online was 3-4 years old and some things are on the menu and some are absent... ok? not my problem, stop being lazy and update your menu online! so he adjusted the price to $8.80 not $8.50 but i was tired of arguing about it and left w/o leaving a tip. we get back to our hotel and at that point i actually took the time to count the wings, 9 in the container next to some welted lettuce. we call back and ask how many wings should be in an order and was told 12. immediately let him know we just left and only got 9, at that point he gave some ludicrous excuse that complety contradicted what he just said. we asked for our money back or the 3 additional wings we were shorted. i guess they made 3 more wings that went to waste because we aren't bothering to go back!

disrespectful. i pre ordered some wings, went to pick them up and the bar tenders talked amongst themselves for 15 seconds before realizing i was standing right in front of them. they over priced the wings and when i told him the difference of the price on the website he proceeded to give me the lower price. fine, but when i realized that the cook shorted me 3 wings i called and the bar tender told me that it comes with 12 i told him i received only 9 he then told me that if the wings are big you get fewer than expected! horrible service

of the three places i've tried on the block (one being the irish place next door to kelly's) this was the best but didn't blow us away. again, no kids menu, definitely more of a bar atmosphere. good place for adults/couples without kids. food was pretty good, service ok. but considering that you can pay a lot more for a lot less around here, it's a better value than most. if you're trying to decide between kelly's and dubliner i'd recommend kelly's.

the service is extremely poor. i waited 20 minutes in a mostly empty bar and was ignored by two bartenders. several other patrons were ignored as well. go next door to the dubliner, much better.

if you come in expecting the stuffiness of the dubliner next door, you wont like the irish times.
its building is 100 years old & the best experience is it's lunch crowd; office workers ,old american white haired irishmen quietly sip they're whiskys & beers and talk amongst themselves.
at night; college aged drinkers, locals, everybody, and a skelton crew of wait staff with not much tolerances for people who expect the dubliner style of ambiance.
lunch time; however you'll meet "kevin" (when he's there) a wonderfully friendly bartender, who's old world (american) irishness and charm are a blessing to a weary working stiff like myself at times, the owners have had the place since the 70s, the bar is that; a bar(pub) it shows sports and its lunch regulars love to talk sports, lite local poltics,& the redskins, caps, and the nats.
if your a traveler thats wants a nice well drawn guinness & to catch up on your team or watch some golf, while your wife & kids shop @ union station, this the place to wet your whistle.
formal atmosphere & or taking out the boss or your parents next door @ the dubliner for sure!

really watered down guiness (almost unrecognizable) and when we said something, he got a major attitude...so we went next door to the dubliner!

dirty, but a good place to grab a few beers!. i have been here a handful of times... small little bar, never tried any food but was always here to drink. the bartender was actually waisted the last time i went, i guess it was his first day and everyone was buying him shots, anyways he got rather sloppy and the service went downhill. i have seen port-a-potty's that were cleaner inside in comparison to their bathrooms. they have a jukebox and a few arcade machines. some outdoor seating...
