the place has a dream-like quality, or maybe that's just the wine talking. it seems deliberately designed to be discovered without announcimg itself. despite the hidden entrance, everyone knows this place. sexy, informed staff. good music. great wine geekeru.

good, but......... stopped by after our dinner at grimaldi's, for a drink. music is too loud and drowns out your conversation.

quite possibly one of the worst restaurants/ bars , ever . rude bartender and embarrassingly awful food. the pork ribblette was congealed bacon grease (literally) toast,jam and pickled onions. gross . also, an understocked bar. don't waste your time. too many other really great choices in old town.

i don't normally take the time to write a review but i feel this is necessary. the wine selection would be just okay of it were a run of the mill restaurant but for a place that sells itself as a wine bar is far below par.

when asked for a dry, earthy, tanin heavy wine the waitress immediately recommended the most expensive wine on the menu. both of the wines served were dry but not at all earthy or heavy in tannins.

when food was ordered is was acceptably priced but very disappointing, it was quite bland. for $10 a plate by no means was the food bad but with so many other fantastic options nearby it's a bit unjustifiable.

the decor is unfortunately lacking as well, while there are a number of what i would describe as cheap features a representative example is a fake fireplace made of the same fake stone the interior walls are coated with

in summary this establishment is far overpriced for what you get and it's fairly cheap.

the truth is inside. in my opinion, this is the best place for late night jazz in arizona. it's a classy wine bar with a large selection of wines. i love the atmosphere inside as it comes to life after you pass through it's doors (if you can find it). comfy sofas, dark corners and candlelights give it a feel of a hidden wine cave. they serve up small plates of food from the neighboring cowboy ciao.

what a hidden delight! the hunt to find this unmarked speakeasy was just the beginning of a great night. killer dj (mantis claw?), nice wine, cool cellar ambiance, fun crowd and chorizo & manchego served with caper berries, gherkins, baguette and cranberries.

try the basque flatbread!. it's pricey for what it is - 2 glasses of wine, 3 cheeses & 1 flatbread came to $80. however, the basque flatbread was delicious and wine choices limited, but good. don't bother with the cheese plate.

this place would have been really cool if it wasn't for the absolutely horrible servicedon't be tricked into thinking that by getting a private table, you will get better service. we had a party of ten and while waiting at the bar, were asked if we would prefer a private table top get out drinks faster. wow!...what a scam! the server took out drink orders, only brought out the most expensive drinks and it took 3 more requests before everyone else received their orders. it was only after being rude about it that she made a point of bringing our order. our designated driver had to ask for a water 5 times and wait over 60 minutes before the waitress finally brought it out. too bad because this could have been a new regular hangout. instead, we will never come back.

for a great wine bar / live music experience, i recommend kazimierz wine bar (impressive wine selection – i had a white port over ice (!), great atmosphere and awesome jazz).

do yourself a fact and order the cheese plate!

loved it. finding the door can be tough, but worth it for this speakeasy!

my one caution: order food one at a time. i ordered a 'starter' and a grilled cheese sandwich and both arrived at the same time. this is apparently normal. just order serially and you'll be fine.

one of my favorites. i love everything about this place. from the hidden back entrance, cozy velvety sofas, to the extensive wine lists and wonderful cheese platters. this is how a wine bar should be. everytime we are in scottsdale this is always one of our destinations.

incredible wine selection. a binder bursting with excellent wine selections from all over the world. we also had the fresh parm pizza, which was awesome.
