my first sauced ribs. i came in to katie's with my hubby all the way from illinois and we stopped for a local meal (we love home cooked meals)
i am in love. i am allergic to tomatoes so i never get to have them with sauce. most bbq sauces are tomato bases. so upon talking to morgan and scotty (the chef) he made a special glaze for my ribs. exquisite. thank you!! i consider them family. i cried a bit and hugs. i highly recommend you get to katie's asap. thank you so very much the staff made my trip perfect.

a must when in new orleans...the yellowfin tuna was amazing. we all had different dishes and they were all delicious. i recommend saving room for the daily doberge cake.

well worth the streetcar ride.. yummy!!!! i asked a friend who used to live here for recommendations for good restaurants and she said this place is not to be missed. it was loud, but that added to the experience. we could have split the cowboy burger as it was that big. i had the grilled oyster po boy and it was great. we had to leave room for the cake. superb. the staff was friendly, and the owner, steve, made sure we had everything we needed. a recommendation for any of my friends who visit here.

crap. tried to eat at katie's on a sunday. they were very busy, and we were told there was a 45 minute wait. no big deal, i'll have a drink while i wait. after waiting by the bar for over 10 minutes not a single person had acknowledged us even standing there. the bar was full of patrons sitting and eating but no one else was waiting to order a drink. so we left. strike one.

i decided to give katie's another try because everyone has off days, right? we were sat in a timely manner, and the appetizer came out with little wait, but the entrees took almost 30 minutes (after the appetizer). also, the food was definitely not worth the wait. the eggplant fries appetizer was nothing more than ok, kind of mushy and the eggplant themselves had no flavor, the side marinara was absolutely necessary to salvage the dish.
the fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade sandwich was the worst i have ever eaten, even after i took everything off the french bread because at first all i tasted was the bread. stick to liuzza's and ruby slipper for this dish.

definitely will not be giving katie's a third chance. two strikes, you're out.

everything is very rich.... ... and oily at katie's. some people like that, but for me it was too heavy. the grilled oysters were swimming in butter and their pasta dishes have like 2000 calories. i had a greasy sandwich. it's kinda pricy too for not being awesome.

easily one of the best brunches in new orleans. and even though you might wait 15 to 30 minutes it's way worth it. unlimited mimosas?? yes please. breakfast pizza? yum! incredible brunch chargrilled oysters? get out! and all the eggs benedict dishes are delicious. i suggest the crab cakes

2nd try, so-so.. surprised to be disappointed last time, gave it a second shot. pizza (wife & her mother), crust so thin in the middle that all it was was cheese, heavy. sandwiches are big bread, dry, unadorned. i had the cuban, a smattering of pork, well seasoned, but dry, dry, on dry bread. very plain. wife's dad had similar with another sandwich. no winners here. no winners last time. 0 for 6. try the breakfast? not sure.

wanted to give it a 5.. heard a great deal of good. hit is on a friday night. atmosphere 5, service 5, warm and friendly. great grilled oysters, close to a 5, but a bit over-rich and need a touch of something. a review and my wife enticed me to try the softshell crab poboy (i have fond memories but most softshells are overfried crispiness with nothing inside). it was pretty close t that on undressed but good bread. a grave disappointment, but a 3. wife's quesadillas were decent but over-cheesy & underflavorful. none of it bad, but little of it up to expectations. will try again, perhaps we made bad choices.

amazing food, close to perfect service, and sitting in the spacious upstairs was a treat after being crammed in french quarter restaurants all week. honestly, we ended up here because liuzza's was closed, but happy we did. the cochon de lait and bbq shrimp was one of the best foods i have eaten in a long time.

we got a recommended list of brunch spots around new orleans and we choose katie's. we were so glad we did. we had the crabby eggs and shrimp frittata . both were excellent - wish i lived closer as i would be a regular.

very good roasted pork. the cochon de lait po-boy was very tender, and the bread was very crisp. this is one of the rare joints serving up well made traditional new orleans food, and a terrific spot to hang out.
