***warning*** i visited by myself one monday afternoon. i sat at the bar and was the only customer there and had a very inattentive bartender. upon closing out i paid with my card and the bartender added an additional tip to my tab. i called the manager, who did not give me his name, and was told i would be hearing from the owner who has yet to call.

you've never had a dish like this anywhere else, and that's a shame because the crawfish beignets are a meal in themselves, are not sweet like their cousins across town and are worth the trip all by themselves. this dish will have me coming back -

awful. my wife and i dropped in for lunch on a monday after reading all of the positive reviews. it turns out... it was terrible. my wife ordered the red beans & rice with cornbread and andouille sausage, the beans were flavorless, the rice undercooked, the cornbread incredibly dry, and the sausage...if you could call it that... was a patty that had the same consistency as the cornbread....

i ordered "the legend" a stuffed po' boy stuffed with grilled shrimp and pork and fries. it was slightly better... the 8 fries it was served with were soggy and cold, and the sandwich was dripping with grease. with all of the great food options in nola this place should be avoided.

great little gem. lunch today. beautiful weather so we were able to sit out side. our waiter, murphy, was great. attentive but not lingering. food was great-fried eggplant strips with some of the best marinara sauce i've ever had. hubby had a bleu cheese burger with onion rings. very good altho the bottom bun got a little soggy with all the juiciness of the burger. i bit the bullet along with southern manners and had their baby back ribs with blackberry and jalapeño bbq sauce. it was sooo good. was even licking my fingers. definitely some of the best ribs i've ever had.
good wine list and great ambience. would highly recommend.

hostess on the morning of november 1st, 2014 was extremely rude and unpleasant. probably a reason she's sitting tables instead of serving, has a terrible attitude. we walked in and said we wanted to go wish our friend who was seated in the restaurant a happy birthday, and she starts yelling after us "they don't have room at their table" which we are all clearly aware of, we have all worked in restaurants before and are not incompetent. so we got back up to the front and she ignores us and seats another table who was walking in while we were standing there. she tells us there would be a wait, that's perfectly fine. until she rudely says to us "this is a walkway. you need to move" instead of just politely asking. terrible attitude which caused us to leave because if the service is anything like the hostess treated us we did not want to stay. tell your hostess that she is the first impression of the restaurant and that it caused customers to be driven away. she should clearly not be working with the public.

the food wasn't worth the money. the service was so horrible. we asked out waiter what would he prefer and he said i don't know about three seperate times. also the "bottomless" drinks were extremely watered down. right when he brought them you could clearly see that. really really disappointed considering i've only heard good things about the restaurant.

great!. excellent food, the barge with no mayo or oysters and the addition of bacon is what we usually get and split. it is longer than the table, and every bit as good as it is big.

katie's is good. really good. it's getting harder and harder to find decent food with a chef who actually cares. short order cooks, and old creole ladies aside, it's tough to find a person cooking who actually cooks to make things taste good. all too often it's an attempt to be overly creative, and while some things are you unique, it's mostly something you'll eat once and never consider ordering again. katie's isn't like that. the food is good. and feta on fries is a stroke of genius. while paper thin pizza isn't my thing, they even do that well.

we drive in 120 miles from grosse tete monthly to get a bite there. prices are very reasonable, and food is outstanding.

last night two of us split "the barge" expecting a big, but mediocre, sandwich. 15 minutes of deliciousness later, it was another testament to katie's. a giant sandwich that was awesome and 15$ a person. our waiter kicked ass too, even with the table of 10 tools next to us he had to baby.

in short, worth the trip.

katie's restaurant & bar is a cute neighborhood restaurant. the atmosphere was nice. prices were reasonable. the staff needs to work on being friendlier and more efficient though.

just finished eating lunch here and had to immediately write a review. the boudreaux pizza is killer! pulled pork and garlic? yes please! advice if you order: ask for a side of bbq sauce. makes what's already a delicious meal out of this world. and the fried green tomatoes are a must get. highly recommend this cozy place

overpowering taste. we came here after noting it on an episode of triple d. we had our dinner at the bar beginning with shrimp and corn soup for my husband. it was thick and very good. my main dish was the st. louie po'boy - fresh fried la oysters topped with melted provel cheese and bacon with a side salad. i was really looking forward to trying this. it was a nice sandwich but i found the taste of bacon overpowering and as a result wasn't able to taste the seafood. my husband's meal -- seafood platter - piles of shrimp, crawfish, catfish, and oysters fried to perfection, served with some onions rings and fries was huge. he was disappointed with the meal, the batter on the seafood was very thick and salty, so much so that he couldn't taste the seafood. the place was busy so it must be popular. i wouldn't dissuade anyone from trying it however we won't be back.
