“tapioca jackfruit chili” is the literal meaning of the name, and ‘feeling nostalgia’ is an understatement about this place. been here twice so far, and both times it was perfect. make sure you book a table, as this place can get packed on any evening.

food – 5/5: a rundown of our orders were syrian beef fry, squid fry, prawn kizhi, appam, mutton stew, mutton chaps, chicken puttu biriyani, thattum muttum, and seer fish fry. too many honorable mentions here, because each dish is delicious, and each bite takes you home to kerala. you don’t get the regular kerala parota or biriyani here, as they are far too commercial now. expect only authentic dishes that touch your heart. for desserts we had tender coconut pudding, khandari ice cream, payasam and unnakai. our drinks were absolute khandari (a spicy drink), tender coconut water and a lemon mint cooler.

ambience - 4/5: as you enter, you will notice tanks for selecting what seafood you want from their live options. seating is available for groups of various sizes, and they even have high seated tables. décor is minimal, however there are picture frames of kids playing in the water, maybe taking some of you on a nostalgic tour.

service – 5/5: splendid service, we were very happy. our original seating had water dripping from the ac, and we were immediately given an alternate seating. food was brought real quick. we had the opportunity of talking to 1 of their directors and learnt a brief and rich history of this outlet.

the cost is pretty reasonable for the quantity served, and taste-wise the experience is really worth it. valet parking is available, so that’s good. overall, the best place for realgoodkerala cuisine.

the thing that attracted me towards this place is the name 🤪 as it sounds something different so i was quite curious to pay a visit here. and then one fine day we opted this place for the dinner.
very lively ambiance, quite cosy and noisy. even they have open kitchen where u can peep in to see your food being cooked 😁
we started with ▪️mutton coconut fry. spicy and oily. small tender mutton pieces. not so dry with rings of onions on top of it alongwith coconut. that's wow!!!
next we had ▪️prawn puttu. for me something i had for the first time and i loved it. prawns were hidden inside the rice which was cooked in different style. too good.
▪️ ramapuram kozhi curry. not so spicy. very tasty gravy with flavour of coconut. it was paired with white rice..
▪️kappa vevichathu kudampuliyitta 🙄 though i was not able to pronounce the name properly to the staff but he made me understood what the dish is all about. tapioca cooked in different style. i didn't had much of it though.
▪️idiappam. it somewhat resembles chowmein 🤭 white coloured served in round patches.
▪️varal meen curry. this was the combo with idiappam which was been suggested by my friend. the meen (fish) curry was made awesome. fresh pieces of fish. a very tasty gravy 🤤🐟
next time for the desserts.
▪️kandahari icecream 😩 i never knew ice-cream can be so spicy 😂 fully different and beyond my imagination. had a different experience with this.
and then later i came to know about the meaning of kandahari (chilli 😂)
▪️payaru payasam. i am not a sweet person. so didn't had it much 🤪
so as a whole it was a greate team work to keep the customers happy and satisfied. from the food to the service till we left everything was nice. i liked the utensils they used. so antique!!
the portions they served were quite less compared to the price but the quality and taste of the food wasgoodenough to make u keep on ordering.
an authentic destination for kerela cuisine. highly recommended for a super food spread.

the food is very authentic,
the quantity could have been better ( the taste compensates it though )
the meat they serve is very soft just like the ones you get in kerala.

awesome place , great food.. prompt service. special mention -the person managing the parking does an amazing job.. he too is prompt.
ambience - you will stare at till you get the food then you'll forget everything else.
now coming to food-
everything is correctly portioned. even if it looks a bit less sometimes.
we ordered an amazingly melt in your mouth pathiri with beef curry , chicken pidi curry - rice balls soaked in a sauce which out of basic decency i didn't lick off the plate.
tender coconut pudding..(order one per person.) you won't want to share this;).
a chicken fry starter.. this is the real finger lickinggooddeal.
would love to return. we traveled an hour to reach here and it was a treat.
kids would love it.there's a fish tank with i think the days catch.
our neighbour looked a lot like gvm.. his food looked delicious too:d.

kappa chakka kandhari - if you looking for authentic kerala cuisine food in chennai ! kck is the place ♥️ we visited this restaurant for dinner.

the restaurant offers only set menu and there is no option for a la carte!

we tried ammachi special and toddy memories set menu. it was filled with non-veg starters like beef, clams, chicken, prawn and fish. the main course also comes with it. we also ordered one pot menu of appam mutton stew and appam egg roast. you can choose any single beverage and dessert which is free of cost. the food is reallygoodalso felt blast of authentic taste. the quality is top notch but less portion.

i would recommend to try their cloud pudding aka tender coconut pudding, fish curry, appam mutton stew & signature kandari icecream. the ambience is pleasant and crowd is fully filled with malayalees even staffs. this place reminds kerala nadhan food place!

first of all, i was eagerly waiting to eat here but it ended up with total disappointment:
1. set menu and pot meal was the major drawback.
2.never order grill prawns, as the picture says you will end up getting only one prawn which cost 350.
3.quantity of the food was very less.
4. not worth the money.
coming to thegoodpart:
1.coconut pudding was amazing.
2.appam was good.
3.beef was nice.
4. prawn satti sooru was okayish.

i will never recommend this place to anyone.

awesome food !!
we ordered from the set menu -vayanasala and toddy memories .

the portion size for starters was just right for a person and the variety that they offer was toogood.
each gravy/fry had its own unique taste and makes you go wow!
the main course was unlimited.

the highlight on the day was cloud pudding ( coconut soufflé ) - right consistency and right sweetness .
might go back again to try their other set menus .

post covid lockdown they have changed their menu. ala carte option has been removed, so we ended up choosing combo menu. i would say its definitely not worth the price.

for instance, 3pieces of idiyaappam with ulli theeyal costs 500+gst + service charge

1 beverage and 1 dessert is complimentary with any combo you choose.

i miss thegoodold kappa chakka kandhari where ala carte was still an option

one of the best south indian restaurants can go again and again to enjoy the food ! the price may look higher but the food quality and taste has always been best. select menu that has vattiappam. it looks like idly so soft and juicy with a little sweet taste that goes soooogoodwith all curries. the coconut pudding is must. prawn puttu is also one of their best.

aah, at last we went to this much hyped restaurant this july 2021. the food on a whole scale was fairly tasty, near authentic kerala cuisine and strictly for lovers of such. the restaurant tries to differ in terms of how the menu presents itself and how the food ought to be ordered. strictly a no-no for families looking to eat a hearty keralite meal as in other kerala restaurants and also they might feel the quantity served, the taste and the tricky presentation in the menu amounts to nothing but a veiled culinary extortion. but for individuals foreign to the cuisine or food bloggers or office groups or batch of friends looking to try something different, it makes for a startling discovery!
some of thegoodstuff among what we ordered was the small fish fry, mutton fry, the pineapple concoction, appam, duck mappas, prawn kizhi etc. the divine cloud pudding and the palada really were the stars! and the passion fruit juice and lemon mint cooler choices were very good. staff was courteous, ambience was underplayed but very clean.
but mind you, do get them to explain their menu to you first and be prepared for the miniscule quantities!

i had heard a lot about this place and it was on my bucket list for a while so went with huge expectations only to be thoroughly disappointed! it's an upscale restaurant but the service was the worst i experienced in recent times. they took forever to take the orders and an eternity to serve the food. and after testing our patience to the max, they eventually served us cold food! they fixed it for the main-course after my complain but the damage was already done.
i ordered jalarani set which is priced at 1475 plus taxes. it has limited starters and unlimited main course. it is way overpriced for the quality of food they serve.
coming to food, among the starters chicken peralan, and mutton weregoodbut prawn was overcooked and squid was so tough and chewy that it was inedible. all items were served cold! the beetroot sauce didn't make any sense as a dip as all the items were dry gravy types which don't need dip.
the karimeen polichathu was decent andgoodsize but not the best i had.
in main course, kappa meen curry and ramassery idly chicken curry were below average but the prawn moily gravy was exceptional and made an excellent combination with appam but the prawn were overcooked.
for desert, i had cloud pudding and it was easily the best dish i tasted here. if ever i go back, it will be only for this dessert!
also, don't think most of the meat served was fresh. i had an upset stomach the next day.
overall, i felt this place is overhyped and not value for money considering the poor service and mostly mediocre food especially when much better kerala cuisine options are available in chennai.
