stumbled upon this hidden gem of yakima and have not been able to stop coming back! thefoodis dangerously good with the friendliest of service. the menu is filled with authentic korean dishes that leave you satisfied and full everytime! there is a variety of korean bbq style meats that come out sizzling to the table, and plenty of broths and soups that can awaken the taste buds. everything comes out in a timely fashion so that you can either stop in on your lunch break, or have a nice dinner with your family. i can't say enough about this place. have yet to try anything on the menu i haven't liked! thefoodwill have you addicted!

the pleasence of joy garden. my friend introduced me to joy garden, and told me she had discovered it after a bad break up, and that thefoodalways made her feel better. after eating there up to 6 times, and most of those visits being consecutive every week, a big deal because i have to drive from ellensburg if i want to go, i can say she is right. when i leave this restaurant i have an absolute sense of well being. thefoodis all amazing, my favorite is the pork bulgogi, and it is all reasonably priced which is a big deal because i am a college student. i love this place! this is the only place i have ever been to, where i am not afraid to order something new!

the worst service. came on a saturday night. took over 25 minutes to take our order. a waitress came over and would ask us if we wanted to order or want water and then walk away. they were all running around like no one knew what was going on. when ourfoodarrived our fried rice tasted like a salt lick and our beef was over cooked. even the kids said never again!!!!

best asianfoodin yakima!. i have found myself working my way down the menu.
thefoodnever has tasted bad. i always found myself driving away happy. the owners are very kind and even remembered my name after 3 months from my last visit. also, the side dishes are the best!

if you like korean food, quality service, and reasonable prices--- try this stop on your next big date.

the joy garden is a long way from korea. the joy garden is truly a joy to eat at. unlike chinese or generic asian restaurants, the joy garden is very authentic korean food, made by koreans. i haven’t had the chance to sample all of the menu items, but those items i’ve had have all been excellent.

one of the first items i had there was the bul go gi, which is a popular and typical korean dish. basically grilled bbq beef, it is both savory with a little bit of sweetness and some spice. most dishes are served with a number of relishes and kimchis and korean style sticky rice (which tends to be sticker than regular steamed rice). all the dishes i’ve had and seen come out of the kitchen appear to be made fresh. the general nature of authentic korean cuisine lends itself to the use of very fresh ingredients and very few if any prepared components.

within the past few months they have upgraded their dining room to also support korean bbq. you order a platter of raw, marinated meats and then cook them at your table. again, i wasn’t disappointed; the meats were all juicy and oozing with savory flavors after they came off the grill. also included with your raw meats is onion and mushrooms that are also to be grilled with the meats. one platter meant to 2 could easily serve 3 or possibly 4.

portions are generous, both for bbq and for kitchen prepared dishes. prices are very competitive. the atmosphere is very basic, but withfoodas good as they serve and at the prices they charge i’m not complaining.

soooo gooood!!!. i was introduced to korean bbq years ago in tacoma and fell in love immediately! my lady friend is korean and has a keen palate for authentic korean food. this place is great and has recently gotten so much better with their addition of in-table grills. everything is good, but my advice is to get the in-table bbq experience. so many great sides...such delicious meat. so much fun to grab thefoodyour self. doooo it!!!

negative advise. (don't believe the first thing you hear). we (wife and i) have driven past this place many times and thought korean and bbq must be an oximoron; i never could be more wrong. my wife noticed this place and wanted to check it out. my past experience that ma and pa hole in the wall restaurants have proven to be individually distinctive, and this place exceeded the rule. my wife had a salmon steak with a salad. i tasted the salad and was amazed.....i have never tasted anything like it. i ordered the pork bulgogi. bbq yes but with a twist. it was very spicy without being so obnoxiously hot. if i have any complaint at all it would be that a spicyfoodshould also be served with an opposite non spicy compliment. (ok i had to spice up the white rice....shoot me). definitely i will be back with my friends,

there was some negative statements somewhere on this web page stating this restaurant was closed and out of business. to that....don't believe everything you read; a phone call verified this to be false. secondly this very afternoon i ate there and cleaned my plate regretfully---there was nothing left to take home for dinner :(

real korean and really good. i spent 2.5 years in korea in the military, and enjoyed koreanfooda lot for the last 1.5 yearsof it (once i started to explore the country).
i crave authentic koreanfoodand enjoy a few places in seattle when i get over there. this restaurant is very pleasant and fills a big gap in my dining out life here. the owner is very friendly and i enjoyed chatting.

the spicy tofu soup was awsome! just like in korea. i don't even know if it is on the menu, i just asked for it.

the soup comes in an earthenware bowl, bubbling and boiling. i said yes to the egg on top. i just broke it up a little to let it cook in the hot soup. the sides were authentic and the owner brought some fish cake for me as i had mentioned it while talking about the dokbokee.

try getting some rice in the spoon and then dipping in the soup to get some broth, tofu and rice in the same bite. your mouth will thank you for days.

finally--koreanfoodin yakima. what a find--especially for yakima! i only come up to this part of the country once a year at christmas to visit my family and was lucky that my sister had heard about this recently opened korean restaurant up on tieton dr. in yakima. it's great to see that there are now good options for ethnic cuisine (thai, vietnamese, indian, and now korean), which were non-existent when i grew up there in the 1980s-1990s.

the menu had a good variety of classic korean dishes, including bulgogi and bibimbap. the portions are large, fairly priced, and of high quality. fresh shitake mushrooms, pickled daikon, well-spiced kimchee, and roasted barley tea--the flavors are authentic and the chef takes no shortcuts.

the owners are a friendly couple who relocated to yakima from the washington, d.c. area. both stopped by our table to personally ensure that we were enjoying our meals.

i wish i had more time to go back and sample some of the other menu options. don't miss this place!
