great food, nice atmosphere,goodservice. this was my fourth visit to this restaurant. as always, it was a very enjoyable evening. the menu satisfied the highly varied tastes of my family. the food and service have always been excellent and the prices reasonable. i highly recommend john j. jeffries. the ability to make a reservation (and modify it to add a person) through urban spoon made reservations simple and added to the enjoyment.

best restaurant ever!!. hands down this is our favorite restaurant! the food is always amazing. i love it that when i leave i feelgoodand not bogged down like other places. the staff is always formal and friendly. i appreciate that they serve only local foods and fair trade coffees.

my daughter and i dined here to celebrate her 21 birthday. the service was friendly and attentive. the pork belly appetizer is worth the experience. the creme brûlée was perfect. our choices of entrees were not as impressive. the vege empanadas were dry. overall a definitegoodchoice for dining in lancaster amongst a growing number of high end establishments

this is hands down one of "go to" places in lancaster. great food and you know where it comes from and how it's grown!! the jim bim bop is sogoodas well as the tartar small plate or the more daring try "the truth." it's their large plate of tartar with a raw egg on top. don't be scared it is from free range grass fed happy chickens so endulge. nice microbeer selections that rotate and great cocktails. order the broomstreet, a traditional whiskey sour from chef cavanaughs grandmothers recipe. depending what is in season the pastry chef brian burton will be creating sweet treats and home made ice creams. the pumpkin creme brûlée in the fall is amazing and he also does a lavendar version when it is in bloom outside on their terrace. menu is always changing as it should be to use what's in season. i highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone! keep up the excellent work sean and michael!!

who knew?!. my husband and i were blown away by lancaster. we went expecting quiet, serene countryside with quaint restaurants and shops along the roadways. this existed, but was trumped by the downtown areas. after reading their online menu, our first night in town led us to john j. jeffries. we arrived, and couldn't even find a spot at the bar, it was so full! despite that, the bartender saw us and attended to us quickly and without a problem. we were seated at our reservation time, and subsequently had 2 fantastic servers. we ordered 2 of the small plates as appetizers, the pork belly and mac and cheese, and the "surf n' turf." check out their menu for great descriptions that really are asgoodas they sound. we collectively agreed that the pork belly was the single best "appetizer" we'd ever had. delicious. we were treated to an amuse of goat cheese and mushroom custard, which is just such a great gesture at any restaurant, and moved onto our entrees. i had the scallops and butternut squash risotto, and my husband had the pork confit. both were delicious, though we were already so satisfied from our appetizers, we could have probably done with another small plate to share. the chef came to our table, and spent some time talking about their philosophy of cooking and restaurant ownership, which really, is a pure example of farm to table. almost all of their ingredients are sourced locally, and if not, are sourced in a sustainable manner. we finished with the ice cream sampler, which had a homemade vanilla bean icecream, a stout icecream, and a maple bacon icecream. that, plus the french press of coffee made for a great finish to an already awesome meal. the chef even went so far as to pour us a complimentary glass of dessert ice wine in celebration of our anniversary. all in all, this restaurant gave us a different picture of "amish country" than we'd even expected. 5 stars and many thanks.
