great pizza. had the make your own pizza and despite it missing one of my toppings it tasted great! lovely light and thin base and great flavour. the restaurant was pretty busy which is great but there was lots of kids and generally pretty basic but a greatplaceif you just want feeding and not an experience

po boy pizza!. this is my favorie pizza spot. we are from the community and have dined in and also had delivery. my favorite pizzas are their po boy, shrimp scamp, and pepperoni.i especially love how they support other businesses, such as my favorite sandwichplace(papa roux). papa roux makes the sauce for jockamo's po boy pizza. we love the atmosphere of jockamos and happy to have them in our community!

add jockamo to the list of pizza that i will never waste money on again! "indy's best"? i feel sorry for indy! i've heard about thisplacefor a couple years and chose a couple simple pies for a thanksgiving eve meal - sausage and pepperoni. how could a pizzaplacemess that one up?

i opened the carton on the kitchen counter with anticipation, and my first visual impression was 'not impressed'.

the ingredients were topped with a healthy layer of cheese, which was a good sign, but it lacked a certain 'lumpyness' that i was hoping for. i reserved judgement for the first bite. nothing impressive. the crust was like a saltine cracker - without the salt- dry, lifeless, flavorless. my sister mentioned that she liked the 'crumbly' sausage better than the 'chunk' here or there, and i lifted the cheese to have a look. 'what sausage'? i saw none on this piece! and the pepperone was 'hit or miss' also. so making up for an unspectacular crust with a healthy dose of toppings was off the list, too!

i did take the leftovers (more than expected) home with me. stepdad didn't want any. i will 'doctor them up' with some more toppings of my own and see if i can rescue them.

i had talked a picky stepfather into trying jockamo's over his personal local favorite and had to apologize to him afterward. i let the family down!
i'll just stick with a 'totino's' and my own toppings'!

i still can't give this pizzaplaceenough credit! the only reason i didn't give it 5 was because i'm from chicago and i love deep dish, which they don't have. my all time favorite is the cheese louise! lots of different cheeses (ricotta! yum!) bacon and red onion! my partner likes the slaughterhouse five, which is a meat lovers wet dream. great bread sticks, get the parmesan dip! i also like the thai pizza!

i love the flavors of pizza they offer. the uniqueness is awesome. however they need wheat crust. how can a pizzaplaceso unique and awesome not have wheat crust. i am forced to go to hotbox pizza because of this. i know if they can do it, you can too. and let the servers and staff know that gluten free crust is not the same please. i would give this a 5 star if there was wheat crust. so if you do not require wheat crust then this is going to be a great pizza experience most likely.

great pizza & service. wife and i hadn't been back here for quite sometime. decided to meet up with a close family friend to have a bite. she started out with the "simple salad" and loved it. everything was extremely fresh looking and tasting. we opted for the "slaughterhouse five" pizza as our main course. simply can't beat this pie. only one close to it is one we've had from mother bear's down in bloomington (a favorite). also had ordered a "pepperoni, sausage, and bacon" pizza for the rest of the family and they loved it! we'll not wait as long to revisit this place. pics included. updated the menu photos too. enjoy!

pizza let us down a little along with breadstick dipping sauce...!. i've really liked thisplacefor sometime and have continually rallied for the hearts and minds as a good soldier in favor of jockamo upper crust pizza for the local jockamo vs bazbeau battle.

just recently, my family and i decided to treat my visiting sister and son's girlfriend to a visit here after much bragging. it was a busy friday evening with an expected 40 minute wait. after only a 20 minute wait, we were gladly and cordially seated.

breadsticks & sauces -

believe it or not, during past visits, we'd never ordered the breadsticks. we finally decided to order them and for our dipping sauces, we opted for the nacho cheese sauce (double order), pizza sauce, and alfredo sauce. the breadsticks were very good on their own but the sauces were served cold! regardless, most of the sauces were good, albeit better if at least warm, with exception to the alfredo dipping sauce. this italian masterpiece had the consistency of mayonnaise with roughly shredded parmesan cheese mixed in and unfortunately tasted that way without even a hint of the expected buttery taste. the alfredo dipping sauce was a complete let down, and as a whole for all the sauces being served cold it totaled up to be a complete major appetizer foul!

ordered 2 pizzas.

pizza #1 - slaughter house five specialty pizza - 16".

our typical favorite and popular pizza we always order is the "pepperoni & sausage" at everyplacewe visit. thisplacehas been no exception in that regard and found it to always be extremely good!. this time the wife and i decided to try the "slaughter house five" specialty pizza to satisfy our recently new found love of all meat pizzas. all was good except two things. what happened to covering the entire pizza crust with toppings? at least 1-2 inches of crust around the edges with not so much as a hint of tomato sauce, much less a witness mark of accidentally dropped toppings in that area! secondly, we've never acquired the taste of mushrooms on our pizza. one of the ingredients of this specialty pizza is italian beef. i swear this beef has a look, consistency, taste, and texture of finely chopped mushrooms but upon extreme scrutiny, it is in fact beef. regardless, it took away from our experience. for our own psychological benefit, we will order this pizza without the italian beef. in summary, aside from these two issues, the pizza was satisfactory. we will order the "pepperoni & sausage" classical favorite next time and add bacon!

son & his girlfriend wanted to try their own pizza combination.

pizza #2 - 1/2 spicy cajun sausage, jalapeno, bacon, pineapple & 1/2 pepperoni & sausage.

this ill created combo by young ones in love was delivered to our table wrong. it came even more in error with banana peppers. told our server and she graciously compensated with a 12" of the corrected ingredients (spicy cajun, etc.)... we got to keep the original good 1/2 of pepperoni & sausage.

not sure how the corrected pizza tasted. wouldn't try it even on a bet. however the 1/2 pepperoni & sausage was fantastic as expected and experienced in the past!

our server kept our drinks topped off and checked on us from time to time albeit they were quite busy.

hopefully i'm wrong, but there may be a developing crack in the alliance in regards to the battle of jockamo vs bazbeaux. or maybe it was just a busy quirky night we visited. until our next visit, i am downgrading from favorite status to like.

hopefully just a quirky visit. we'll be back to confirm.

excellent tasting pizza... should be ranked in indy's top 3.... we've tried thisplacetwice. we would definitely visit more often but is across town from us. thisplaceshould be consistently ranked higher than bazbeaux's. great crust, sauce and fresh toppings. great little hole-in-the-wall pizza joint.

good, but not great. great atmosphere, but the pizza itself didn't match the hype. i'd heard word-of-mouth this was the best pizza in indianapolis, and while it was good, it didn't rise to great. the crust was dry and lacking; good crust should add to the overall experience but this crust detracted a bit. more positively, the spinach/artichoke bread was delicious, soft and tasty and a great way to start the meal. i'd recommend thisplacefor sure, but i wouldn't call it the best pizza in town. (see: bazbeaux.)

i was really pleased with jockamo upper crust pizza. the flavors are original, the crust crispy and chewy, and the people watching made this a greatplaceto visit for a meal. i’m looking forward to my next visit when i can order a 16-inch half meatball pizza and half sausage and mushroom with banana peppers topped with smoked gouda and feta cheese.

fantastic. i was so glad when jockamo's opened in irvington, and i'm so glad its become the juggernaut and catalyst for other great spots in the area. the pizza is consistent and made with fresh ingredients. the breadsticks are hot and delicious and come with amazing dipping sauces. and the little things you wouldn't expect from a pizzaplacelike great carrot cake or a watermelon salad with goat cheese and balsamic reduction are the reasons why its a constant favorite of the locals. keep it up, guys and gals.

if it wasn't the onlyplaceto go. to take your family for a meal on the near east side i'm not sure jockamo would/could sustain. i want small family owned places to open, thrive and improve our neighborhoods. so this review is hard. but this is the third time in so many months (evidence there are too few options!) that we have had poor quality product, extraordinary wait with contradictory rushed table service, filthy/greasy tables, seats and dishes.

we were seated at the table at the end of the runway (geez only 15 other tables were cleaned and ready and set, but obviously that was the table closest to the bathroom walkway, bus/dishpans, kitchen door, and cash register, since we got there at 8:00 we wouldn't want to make anyone take too many extra steps.) the table had grease munge all over it, the cheese shaker looked like a toddler had licked the container and re-rolled it in the parm, and the bench seat was covered in missed-the-hole bite scraps that my son (yes, my 18 year old son even) had to wipe off.

our waiter asked if we were ready after he handed us the menu and before we opened it and returned three times within approximately three minutes of being seated after we had been waiting over thirty with empty tables throughout. when taking our drink order i asked about the local taps and after i ordered the fountain square pilsner he (at the ripe old age of 21?) asked "do you know what a pilsner is?" to which i replied, "um, yes, like--budweiser?" at that he turned and brought back my lipstick schmeared pint.

a variety of near east side teenagers are the primary workers who are delightful (as are my own) but they are far too interested in one another to be flagged down for a fork. they are also pretty interested in getting their evening wrapped up to get on to the friday night festivities so they interrupt table conversation to ask you every ten seconds if they can take every paper/scrap/spare plastic container/plate/bowl away. i started to count how many times we would be interrupted and twice tried to stop two different bus boys/girls for another “pilsner” during their interruptions before they turned to walk away and they didn't bother to stop. i was never asked if i wanted a second even though i was finished with the first while i was waiting for the pizza.

there was an odd cash register receipt debacle that made us really uncomfortable. we actually paid for someone other than ours’ food and drink bill! he left us with a tab and rambled something about not to worry and didn’t let us get a word in edgewise. he assured us we had “come out better” and that “he would eat the difference because it was his mistake” but i can’t imagine how he would eat the difference if the other people never actually got a bill and we paid for theirs and ours was never rang through?

now for the reason why we actually go out to dine--the food. the pizza was originally an amazing change of pace and served in an eclectic uber-hip for near east side venue with one of "our own kids" managing the place. having local people serving locally crafted noms using locally purveyed vendor choices (smoking goose and papa roux--also our own kids) is amazing. however, if you produce an inferior product with their superior ingredients it's sort of embarrassing. if i were them, i would be concerned. the pizza toppings/ingredients are now scanty, lumped dead center, and the crust is consistently soggy these days due to running the pizzas through too fast.

yes--friday is big night out--you're busy--so is everyone else in the metro area but they figure it out.

clean up your act, literally--yuck. hire a room mom at the very least to keep the kidlings in check with some manners and get some order back in that place.

i'm a proud east side mom. you're disappointing me. you may be a cash-cow now because you're the only gig around but for pity's sake, put some pride back in it kids--we're all counting on you!

no excuse to come back. i do not need an excuse to come back to this great pizza restaraunt. love the lunch pizza special. it was a nice change of pace. and i have been tryhing to get family to join me for dinner some evening at jockamo. they really did a nice job remodeling it from it being a country buffet. the old county buffet didn't care if you enjoyed your meal or not. but jockamo server really made our group feel welcome and knew the menu well. i was early and the manage offered me a drink so give thisplacea try you won't be sorry.

good...but no bazbeauxs. we ate here and the pizza was decent but had four cheese knockoff of the quattro and left me yearning for more...think it was the ricotta that was not as good. clean and trendyplacebut can't justify return when pass bazbeaux to get there

excellent.. i visited at 7pm on a sunday night. upon walking to the host stand we were almost immediately seated and had our drink orders taken. my friend and i had good conversation going so the waitress lydia was courteous and gave us time to look over the menu. our glasses were constantly being refilled in a timely manner even being seated outside. our orders took a bit long to come out, but it's pizza not a burger and fries. it was also a sunday night and theplacewas at least half full. the alfredo broccoli and chicken pizza was excellent. the chicken wasn't dry and the veggies were crisp, nothing was burned. it was good. the service was very conscientious and the food was great. very satisfied and will recommend to others.

undercooked mess. went with a friend for lunch sat noon. hostess originally seated us at one of worst tables for two (they were not full and she put us close to kitchen where you could see dishes, etc). we moved and they were accommondating. ordered thai chicken pizza to split. had too much sauce on it and was a mess. also seemed undecooked (crust still a bit doughy etc). maybe it was just this pizza, but was a big disappointment. i had been looking forward to trying thisplacefor some time but will will likely stick with some guys, bazbeaux, others. not feeling that great tonight and wondering if this is the cause. ick.
