for of us went here on a weekend. place was 70% filled, only few tables were free. we chose the set menu.
we had high expectations, but sadly, this place fell short. nice concept of fusion food but faltered in execution. so i will give this one a 3 only, at best a 3.5. top marks for service, and for sophistication but the taste left a lot to be desired.
soup : himalayan clear soup was ok. it was served with a momo and was at the right temperature.
starters: starters were underwhelming, to say the least. nothing deserved a second serving. arbi galouti looked its part but hardly tasted like it. have had better veg galouti kebabs at many places. the broccoli wrap had no taste whatsoever. and the pazha dosa pops was just glorified appam. paneer tikka was okayish but again the verdict on it was divided.
i guess the intent was to elevate the chutney by compressing but that killed the chutney of substance. we tasted the chutney and were like did we just have something, or not ?
main course: the paneer lababdar lasagna was served cold and had some veggies thrown in aimlessly. it could have been better but if only.
millet khichdi was textbook but it would have been nicer with an accompaniment like sambar/ raita. the only redemption in maincourse was the kulcha and rajma. that was spot on and tasted lovely. asked for a second serving here.. not sure since when curd rice fritters qualified to be main course but im not complaining since that tasted ok too.
dessert : so they make a lemon poppy ice cream by your table with liquid nitrogen and stuff and it looks amazing. top marks for optics, but it tasted terrible. they sprinkled chilled rose petals for garnish but that did little more than making a mess of the table. dessert plate had a choco-rasagulla which didnt have any taste of chocolate at all. not sure what the chef was going for here, again. jamun cheesecake was just ok. biscotti tasted good. probably the best dessert was the complementary chocolate cake they gave for my sister's birthday.
i am not sure if this was an off-day. but seriously expected better from this place, since i picked this from the best of chennai list.
