not too bad, but not smoky enough for me.. my wife and i first tried a half order of the onion rings which was still a huge portion, wasn't greasy and tasted justgreatwith the hot sauce that came with it. we couldn't finish it all. i tried the two-meat dinner. the rubbed ribs were very meaty but not the best that i've tasted. what really helped was the add-on sauce. i tried the one labeled "hot" and it was hot and very good. a relative mentioned that the smoked turkey was good, so i tried it and i thought it was only so-so. for the sides, i loved the baked been dish and the potato salad was just ok. the ribs lacked that really robust smoky flavor that i crave, but they were meaty and the portion size was adequate. my wife tried the sauce-less pulled pork and wasn't too crazy about it; but then again, she's not a bbq kind of gal. the service was a little slow at first, and then it was more attentive. the prices are fair for the value received.

excellent food! we were traveling thru des moines and found this gem. greatbar-be-que. it was a bit noisy for my husband but i thought it was just right.

#1 wings, #1 bbq, #1 food. been here many, many times - loves every one! always a go-to when deciding where to eat. reliably good food and reliablygreatservice!

this is the og in the jethros empire. i really like all of the locations but there is something special about this one. the food isgreat(wings and ribs are my favs) but i really like the feel of this location. it has the magical local business vibe that i really dig. booya

stopped on the way thru town for a bite. i had breakfast "nachos" - waffle fries, white cheddar sauce, eggs, shredded cheddar, & my choice of meat (brisket). it came w/excellent sides of pico, guacamole, & sour cream. hubby had bbq dinner - one meat of choice (brisket) 2 sides (beans/potato salad) & cornbread. kids had mac & cheese & applesauce, both homemade. that plus 4 drinks was $40 + tip. i was pretty excited by my dish - every component was good & worked well together. hubby wasn't as enthusiastic, felt bbq & sides were just ok. kids liked their meal. service wasgreat& super speedy.

breakfast at jethro's is good!. open for breakfast starting at 9:30am on saturday and sunday you can find something to fill your hunger. the breakfast plates here are large and for the most part have a bbq twist. i chose the game day breakfast which included sausage gravy and biscuits, 3 made to order eggs, and hash browns covered in chili and cheese. the combination of chili cheese covered hash browns and sausage gravy really did not work for me. the tastes on their own weregreatthough. overall the food here is always empty plate good, the service has been great, and value is right on. i would strongly recommend that you check this any one of the 3 locations for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. it's good.

overall, the barbecue at jethro's was good, above average good. the meats were tasty and moist, but the sides were a little less than desirable. the combination of the two sweet and hot sauces was agreatcompliment to the meat giving it a nice "zippy" taste quality. while i wouldn't put it on par with somegreatbarbecue joints i've eaten at in st. louis or kansas city, it's still very good.

wings on tuesday are amazing! highly recommend the garlic wings. service was passable nothing to brag. this place is all sports bar/grill. don't expect super fancy decor or service but do expect amazing wings! the outdoor patio isgreatto eat outside and see everyone you know walk or drive by.

great bbq at a reasonable price!. heard about this place before i moved to dm and i have had it on my places to visit for a while. boy was i missing out!!

i ordered the full rack of rib with waffle fries (see photo) and i was completely blown away. these were the best ribs i have ever tasted. they had a dry-rub on them and were smoked. they were also served without sauce on them but the table had 6 different sauces bottles on them to choose from. i like the hot bbq but the orginal jethro's bbq wasgreatas well. the ribs were so tender there was no need to use a knife to cut the bones apart (just the way ribs should be!) the waffle fries were well seasoned and piled high. so much food i had to take some home.

the price was pretty standard i thought and it was definitely worth it! i will be visiting this place quite often.

worth a stop. this is more of a dining experience than a place to getgreatbbq. the meats aren't bad, but just aren't anything spectacular. the man vs. food hype alone makes this place worth checking out - like most joints like this, i recommend a sampler to get a real taste for what jethro's bbq has to offer.

looking for fun - head to jethros. i really enjoyed date night with my husband, too bad the cyclones lost big because we had to watch it surrounded by a dozen big screen hd tv's! anyway, we ordered ghost wings, because who doesn't like a little burn? ok, a lot of burn! the fried cheese was the food highlight - they use white cheddar instead of mozzerela and i swear it wasgreat(assuming my taste buds hadn't been totally fried out of my head from the ghost wings! - there is that fun again!!!) the pork sandwhich was lack luster, but the atmosphere was great. head to jethors if you are looking for a fun evening, if you are looking for amazing bbq- head elsewhere.

great prices,greatportions, delicious food, speedy and good service, and kid friendly- even when we came during lunch. the wings, mac-n-cheese, club sandwich, wrap, waffle fries, and bbq sauces are all good.greatplace!
