out of the ball park vegan meal!. we had dinner at jd's last evening. our friends called in advance for a vegan no oil meal.chefbrian hit the ball out of the ball park! we had a four course meal. started with a delicious salad with a variety of lettuces, then we had an asian soup with crimini mushrooms that was so flavorful. our entree was bbq! yes, we had bbq baked beans, a tomatoe stuffed with a tangy coleslaw, corn on the cob and yellow squash charcoal grilled and drizzled in a lemon sauce. so many flavors to enjoy without the oil...we were totally plant struck bychefbrian's genius!! i highly recommend jd's, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, live jazz music playing and a very gracious staff.

vegans, you can eat here!. this is an amazing restaurant- don't let the days inn sign or the location through you off. you will be pleasantly surprised. it gives the best restaurants in punta gorda a run for their money. the wait staff, the manager, the chef, are over the top. they have music almost every night and the entertainment is the best in the area, including punta gorda and north port. i'm a vegan with a carnivore husband and friends. make your reservations the prior day, and thechefwill make sure you have a culinary experience as a vegan. bryant, the chef, has a wonderful spirit and attitude, for him nothing is too difficult. he appreciates a challenge and understands cooking vegan. give them a try- it's the best restaurant in port charlotte, north port for sure.

just what this area needed. am shocked that this place exists here in this sleepy town full of casual restaurants. ate there for the 5th time a couple nights ago. the place just keeps getting better. outstanding food, knowledgeable and helpful staff, beautiful up-scale atmosphere, and some of the most refined jazz i've heard in years. this place provides metropolitan sophistication on every level without being stuffy. whoever their newchefis has brought them the trifecta of great food, great service, and great music. no need to go on about the menu items except to say you must try the scallop blt appetizer....a smartly composed dish that will surprise you.

great food & wine!!. we have been to jd's on several occasions and have never been disappointed with the food or service.chefbob, as we like to call him, brought a wonderful ruby port to our table to sample on one occasion when my wife and i where finishing dinner and i will tell you this.....i have never been a huge fan of wine or port but this was absolutely the perfect end to the perfect evening!

just what port charlotte needed!. jd's bistro and grille is simply just right! for the warm welcome, to the great relaxed color scheme, the friendly, very informative waitstaff, the absolutely delicious menu options, (which have smaller or larger portions - its your choice).
it is the place to entertain guest with an absolute certainty that everyone will find something.
full bar and wine list - great prices, and they even have a reserved chef's wine list, that is just great for those of us that have wine fever!!
we went there at first for just a night out and have been back several times with friends just to share the great experience with!!
oh, and if you are lucky thechefwill come out and chat and share his idea and suggestions with you...great touch! you can tell he loves what he does.

lunch meetings and many dinners, all fantastic. we had our first dinner shortly after they opened with friends, professional and friendly service.chefvisited us, and we learned more about the menu. they update and change the menu, and listened to our feedback. we kept returning, found ourselves addicted to the warm bread and their dipping sauce. it has a flair to it beyond olive oil. its just fantastic. every meal is fresh, made to order, served with pride, and the wine and drink specials are one of a kind. we have fallen in during live music nights, and looking forward to a titantic dinner theme night. if you want a romantic restaurant, something that's not ordinary, that's going to start conversation as you try to figure out what makes this dish so much better than any other you have had...this is the place. if you want exactly what every chain offers in a slightly different package, well, you would still love this place.

we visited so often, and when asking when they would be open for lunch they explained they had private functions and breakfast, lunch or early dinner private meetings/meals.
we have not been able to book one yet, however we want to find an excuse to have one!

don't let the high quality of the decor scare you off, if you see pictures. while they maintain upscale service, i've seen men in shorts that fit right in. it's not about how we dress when we go there, its about how we are treated. they don't expect anything from us but our appetite and we appreciate it!

huh? great food!!!. i have been to this restaurant a dozen times thechefis amazing he comes out asks how everything is if there is a problem they correct it? house smoked salmon...the best!!!

i have never had a bad meal there. bread?... he bakes his own and the the portions are perfect if you order a queen your told its half the size 4 - 5 ounces steak. great for older people or thoose who have had surgery. i think the queen steak is 11.99 it includes bread and salad!. its fresh made.

there is nowwhere in port charlotte you can get fresh made daily products with the care and love that thischefputs forth. the wines are very affordable the bottle beer is priced less than local chains.most by a dollar!

this sounds more like a discruntled employee to me than someone who actually ate at the restaurant? great job tochefbob and his staff!! we'll be back!!! maybe this other person should stay eating mcdonalds.
