out of the ball park vegan meal!. we had dinner at jd's last evening. our friends called in advance for a vegan no oil meal. chef brian hit the ball out of the ball park! we had a four course meal. started with a delicious salad with a variety of lettuces, then we had an asian soup with crimini mushrooms that was so flavorful. our entree was bbq! yes, we had bbq baked beans, a tomatoe stuffed with a tangy coleslaw, corn on the cob and yellow squash charcoal grilled and drizzled in a lemon sauce. so many flavors to enjoy without the oil...we were totally plant struck by chef brian's genius!! i highly recommend jd's, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, live jazz music playing and a very gracious staff.

vegans, you can eat here!. this is an amazing restaurant- don't let the days inn sign or the location through you off. you will be pleasantly surprised. it gives the best restaurants in punta gorda a run for their money. the wait staff, the manager, the chef, are over the top. they have music almost every night and the entertainment is the best in the area, including punta gorda and north port. i'm a vegan with a carnivore husband and friends. make your reservations the prior day, and the chef will make sure you have a culinary experience as a vegan. bryant, the chef, has a wonderful spirit and attitude, for him nothing is too difficult. he appreciates a challenge and understands cooking vegan. give them a try- it's the best restaurant in port charlotte, north port for sure.

they keep changing owners and performers. the last time i was there mid march 2017 they had some older drunk or high woman singer grinding on the chair on stage, i couldn't understand one word she was singing/saying/slurring. this place used to be so classy with real jazz and standards.  miss the old atmosphere. it was romantic and elegant. so very few places left like that and change has always been for the worst in recent years. i don't know why these restaurant owners and managers think "modern approach" is better. for whom? they just lose the loyal crowd and the regulars. snowbirds leave and you have "us the regulars", without us you would lose your businesses. wake up.

food and atmosphere are great! when you see a grand piano, you know there is serious jazz on tap. we live in pittsburgh and i'm a jazz singer. this place has both great music and food. i nice, moderately priced wine list as well. we were there this past saturday and came in later in the evening. the music stopped at 10pm and we wish it would have lasted longer. then i realized we were in port charlotte and not miami!

hidden gem - great food and entertainment!. jd's bistro is a hidden gem right in port charlotte. you may miss it when driving down us41 in port charlotte. our second visit to the restaurant was even better than the first. the atmosphere is pleasant, the music was perfect for the setting and the food alone is worth the visit. put all together and your night could not get better. service was top notch. my steak was cooked to perfection. wife wife's seafood plate was out of this world. the live entertainment made for a great night. we did not want to leave at the conclusion of our meal and we didn't! lovely experience and we will be back!

fantastic!. we had a party of four last night and it was our first time there. the ambiance was beautiful. our server danny was smart, funny and efficient. great service. we all had appetizers, salads and calamari which were great. we all ordered the chateaubriand which was the special. it came with mashed potatoes and carrots. it was amazing! cooked to perfection. the presentation of all the food was creative and pleasing. they had a jazz band playing. they were also very good. we could hear and enjoy them while still conversing without having to yell. overall great experience and we will definately return! love, love, love!

i have been dining at jd's since they opened. saying that, i have to say they contantly out do themselves. the food, service, music and decore is the best charlotte county has to offer. i highly recomend for a special occasion, date night or just feel like a nice night out.

just what this area needed. am shocked that this place exists here in this sleepy town full of casual restaurants. ate there for the 5th time a couple nights ago. the place just keeps getting better. outstanding food, knowledgeable and helpful staff, beautiful up-scale atmosphere, and some of the most refined jazz i've heard in years. this place provides metropolitan sophistication on every level without being stuffy. whoever their new chef is has brought them the trifecta of great food, great service, and great music. no need to go on about the menu items except to say you must try the scallop blt appetizer....a smartly composed dish that will surprise you.

great food poor service. visited jd's twice this week...enjoyed wonderful food...pricey, but worth it. for an 'elegant' restaurant, the service was closer to a fast food restaurant. .. for example: we needed to ask for water and re fills, dirty plates left on our table, wine spilled while poured, wrong drink delivered...overall sloppy. we hope the restaurant does a service face lift because the food and music are worth the trip!

wow!!! is this port charlotte first 5 star restaurant? great food and a wide range of dinner options. entertainment is outstanding any day of the week. it's never overcrowded because they take reservations only, no walk ins. prices are fair for the value of a wonderful dinner experience. thanks! see ya again!

out of the ordinary early bird special. checked out dj's the other day at the beginning of their dinner service and was impressed by their diverse menu. the day i went they had an early bird special lamb stew that sounded divine, but they were sold out already. i ended up trying the lump crab cake appetizer. the crab cake itself was good but i didn't really like the fried green tomato they had paired with it. i would consider going back when i am in the port charlotte, florida area again specially if it is a friday or saturday night when they have live jazz music!
