disapointed to say the least. rode down to calgary the other day to visit some family and my younger cousin suggested we meet up at jamesons for a beer...... my initial impression of this place was good, nice new building, looked fairly busy. after about 10 mins inside the place all the illusions were shattered, the service was horrible. the food below par and even a bit on the cold side. as i waited for my drink i started to look around and realized they had half the bar closed off just giving the illusion that it was a busy and popular place.

after this visit i wont be returning, and if it wasn't for the fact its close to his house i don't think my cousin would ether

veggie burger is delicious!. just tried the veggie burger last night....it was a bit hard to eat because the burger was so loaded, but it was delicious. so nice to have a fresh, tasty veggie burger at a pub - usually they just taste like frozen weirdness.

it works for me. whenever my friends want to grab a few beers and get some wings, we always find ourselves at jamesons. beers and wings are what we normally only go for. we've never tried the other food there so i can't comment on that. besides the long wait to get in sometimes, we've never had a bad experience. our orders came in good time and the waitresses who've served us have all been really sweet. we'll probably be here many more times in the future.

ok at best and would not run back. so we went to 17th ave on the first nice day and it was packed. we walked down the street to see where we could get in and ended up here. it was not that busy (compared to most) but the waitress took forever to come by. once she noticed us we got service until we asked for the bill which took forever! food was ok and drinks the same - very average with very average service.

fun atmosphere but terrible bar tenders!. i've been to this jamesons quiet a few times and i always have a great time! however, my recent visit and experience with the bartenders was the last straw! the bartenders are always so slow, snobby and really pick-and-chose who they want to serve. it's really frustrating!
this place is great if you're looking for an alternative to a club, but the terrible serving staff behind the bar always leaves a damper on the night.

went there yesterday for a beer on the patio. once i sat down it took my server 15 minutes before she came and asked me what i would like to drink (she proceeded to take her sweet time for the duration of my visit and never came back to check on me once my food came). i asked for 3 of my favorites beers and was denied all of them because they didn't have any in stock. the beer i ended up having was a stella and it tasted like the bottom of the keg..flat and stale. i ordered the boneless pork bites because they were on special and was told their daily specials don't start until 4. first time i've been to a pub where the specials don't start at 2. i paid full price for the ribs which was a waste of $12, there was barely any sauce on them and they were dry and gross. service was bad, food was even worse and i will not return. i've been to the location on 17th ave and it is a million times better then this garbage! i suggest they hire servers who know what good customer service is instead of hiring based on looks and they get someone in the kitchen who know how to deliver quality food that's worth the price. major disappointment, save your money!

not very irish. i was there this last tuesday night and tried their dry ribs on special. all they are are tiny cut up pieces of regular porkchop tossed in various flavors that their wings are. kind of dry to be honest. the service was friendly but wow, the -seriously- loud dance and rap music that was being played was awful. on a tuesday night it was strange and i felt bad for all the poor people over the age of 30 there that didn't look too impressed by it either. the owner wants it to be a night club obviously..for 18 yr olds with bad music taste...it has a beautiful interior but still not a comfortable place to have a beer and chat with friends.

overall i wasn't disappointed at all, having low expectations helped.. the food was good and service was similar. if you're looking for a spot to get trade at and have some drunken eats... this is the place for you!!
on the other hand; if you're looking for some genuine dinner and talks, not so much... our conversation was drowned out by blasted out tv and cheering drunks. again it was expected.

don't bother going for brunch, this place is a joke. rude waitresses, unfriendly managers. they seem to hate the fact you order the cheap brunch and no beer. just stick with a real diner with real.food.

a group of us (male/female) went in today for lunch. the food was good but the only topic at the table was how short the servers skirts were. it was hard not to stare when you could clearly see the bottom cheeks of one server in particular. we came in for food not a free show. it seems like the dress code standard is the shorter the better.

calling this place irish is like putting lip stick on a pig. there is nothing irish about it. the food is bad and the service is worse. go across the parking lot and go to kilkenny's.

jamesons on urbanspoon overall, jamesons is fine for what it is; an “irish pub” that follows the same as all the rest of them (seanachie, kilkenny, etc.) i’d still rather hit it than half the douche-attracting spots along 17th, so it’s a good option for that.

the annual 10 days of stampede eating is usually written about food on the calgary stampede grounds, but today we’ll make an exception.  we were lucky enough to be invited to the roadhouse nightclub this afternoon for their first annual beef on a bun contest which was also in support of the calgary food bank.  each beef on a bun was only $1, what a smokin’ deal.  watch for this event next year, it’s one you don’t want to miss.  today there were 5 calgary eateries that participated in this challenge, the main dish, dobson’s, spolumbo’s, jameson’s pub, and big d’s smokehouse.  what a great venue for this competition, out on the patio, under a stampede tent, stocked bars, beer tubs, and food.  i can’t wait to see more restaurants entering next year, perhaps yyc’s best eats can compete! the first bun we started with was the main dish’s creation.  8 hour slow roasted beef with h

we waited 10 minutes after being seated for a waitress to come by and take our drink order before getting fed up and leaving after a waitress dropped off a meal beside us and walked by without acknowledging us.
