jack's restaurant & bar

it's ok. not more! 7 of us went there for dinner. we found the food bland needing salt and pepper. nothing on the menu sounded good to us. the service was good. won't be back.

having heard so much about this place, we finally paid it a visit last week for dinner. we had to wait for a bit before we got a table since they run full most of the times. jack's has a really nice outdoor seating area but since i was a little cold, we decided to sit inside. the place was very well done up and the service was prompt.

coming to the food, i settled for the iced tea to begin with. the tea was perfectly chilled but wasn't strong enough for me.

the mediterranean sampler came in next for the appetizer. the greek sauce and the jalapeno hummus were good but the tabouli didn't really meet my expectations. it lacked some salt i guess and didn't have all the traditional veggies that it's supposed to have.

we also ordered for the garlic oregano fries but they were pretty disappointing. the fries were soggy and the garlic oregano flavor wasn't strong enough.

next came in the chicken asiago for main course and it was simply brilliant. the chicken had the perfect crust and a very lively-tasting marinara sauce. it was served with buttered rigatoni pasta and seasonal vegetables on the side which were just the right accompaniment to the dish.

a major letdown was the fact they stopped serving their famous veggie burger. not only this but they also did not have a vegetarian patty that could be substituted with the current non-vegetarian ones that they have on the menu.

the overall experience was good with a few hits and misses. if i do go back, it will definitely be for the chicken asiago. ;-)

came for lunch and found this place dirty with slow staff. food seems like it's from a frozen state. parking is always a challenge so be prepared to wait to find a space.

three of us had lunch at jacks. i had the gyro, a delightful combination of lamb and beef, cucumber, tomato, onion, tzatziki on warm pita bread. it was served with garlic - oregano fries. having a great daughter in law and having spent some time in greece, i can attest to how fresh, excellent and authentic it was. my wife had the house roasted turkey sandwich with homemade cranberry relish. my brother had a wonderful hamburger. all of the food was excellent as was the service.

my wife and i returned for dinner. i had the meatloaf with yukon gold mashed potatoes. it was probably the best meatloaf that i have eaten. my wife had the chicken asiago which was also excellent. i also had the classic mac and cheese, a blend of asiago mild cheddar, sharp white vermont cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. while i am usually disappointed in restaurant mac cheese, this dish was surprisingly outrageously good. the service was again, excellent. everybody was very friendly. even the busboy was very nice and interested in how we enjoyed our meal and our experience at the restaurant. the manager also stopped by and was very engaging. i cannot say enough about this fantastic restaurant.

passing thru from toronto and this place was the highlight of the trip. we had the pot roast and the meatloaf. simple fare, but also one that when done right, is a real treat. finished off with creme brule and the pear bread pudding. our server, cheyenne ,was fantastic. don't generally write these reviews, but from start to finish it was outstanding. can see why the high marks on zomato!

easy come, easy go. seated swiftly, waited for a friend. ordered a bloody mary. no complaints. the burger was killer, cooked well and super juicy. not a bad chain!

as a tourist, i was looking someplace to go that the east coast doesn't have. this good is amazing! i had the pot roast. try to get a reservation tho, it's busy!!!

great place. they have a truly awesome spaghetti & clams. my wife's mediterranean plate was great in her opinion. good beer and drink selection. service was good but not great.

great meatball sandwich, really good clam sauce spaghetti. excellent waiter. good to have a higher end restaurant in this area.

i've been a weekly regular at jack's since they opened 2 years ago. the owners and staff make me feel like family. i've tried mostly everything on the menu and everything is delicious. i can't decide between the pot roast, scampi, or chicken sandwich as my fav. great place for a burger too. for breakfast i always get the swedish pancakes. when i bring friends with me they always rave about the food and service. i don't make it to dessert too often, oh boy but when i do!! huge treats! the drinks from the bar are always served up quickly and strong. i love sipping a cucumber cocktail out on the patio with my pup. some nights they incorporate live music or a dj too. jack's is a treasure in pleasant hill.

it's ok. not the best service the bus boy just leaned over us to pick up plates not to professional. feels like a eat and kick ya out place
