if you leave thisplacehungry, the problem is you, not the place. the servings are generous and it taste great. i had the waffle special that comes with waffle, two eggs and lots of bacon. the waffle was moist and has good flavor. i chose the blueberry pie filling and it goes great. boyfriend has the fajita omelette and it was big. so u thought there'd be left over. nope. he finished it all coz it's so good. that omelette was a true meaning of brunch. it was enough to get you going to last through the day.

we got to thisplaceat 11:30 am to avoid any lunch rush. only four other customers, all together at the same table. we both ordered an omelet an a pancake. when the waitress sat the food on the table my first thought was damn, the pancakes are nearly burned. and the underside were burned black. i couldn't believe that she actually served them. we did peel the crust away and tried to eat some of them. not good at all. the omelets were okay on the top side but the undersides were burned black. how do people expect to stay in business serving burned up food!
as we got up to leave we couldn't help to notice two things. theplacewas nasty. food scattered around on the floor around uncleaned tables from previous customers, and only two lunch customers had come in.

service is non-existent. i tried toplacea call-in order and was asked to hold. then whoever answered the phone(voice of a younger girl) must have put the phone in her apron because i could hear several conversations as they walked thru the restaurant. i waited 20 minutes before i drove to over while still on my cell phone. once i arrived i walked in and stood at the counter for 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged i was there. it was a guy trying to seat me. i told him i was the one trying toplacea call in order. he told a waitress i was there and went away. once someone actually stopped long enough to ask what i needed. i told them i was the one that had been on the phone in someones pocket listening to everything in there for 20 minutes before driving in. said sorry but was too busy to stop and take an order. she asked another waitress if they could take the order but they told her they were also too busy. told me she would be with me in a minute. i left. i have been going to this restaurant for years but have noticed that jackie doesn't come in anymore. i think she needs to come in and see what this has turned into. the good food and service is getting worse every time i come in. so, i'm done. too many other places to eat now that offer better. was much different when there weren't many other choices. too bad. the mighty have fallen..... so sorry, i just read that jackie passed in 2007. that would explain why this isn't the same as it was. need to take her name off of it. it does her an injustice.

poooor service...big food not the biggest flavor. service is horrible. tried toplacean order by phone and was forgotten about by margaret each time. was placed on hold and waited 35 mins while she had a conversation with someone that i heard entirely. i went in and she didn't care and offered no apology and arrogantly asked what i wanted. the customer even apologized! neither the service is nor food is consistent. sorta gotta cross your fingers that you could get watery grits or a weird tasting waffle. i went a few times because it was close and i work from home but its now a wrap for me. go ahead and go. just cross your fingers.

cold food/poor service. went into thisplacebecause we are new to the area. i will not be going back. we was never greeted walking in and when the server came we didn't understand him and he didn't understand us. order french toast and an omelet. french toast was good, but the eggs was cold like they had been sitting out for like 6 minutes.my husband food was good. service was ok but should have been better.

wowser in tx!. big servings of delicious pancakes, biscuits, gravy, omlets, etc. hobo b'fast my fav. i'm told thisplacewas founded and run by a former holocaust survivor and having nearly starved to death she vowed to make feeding people plenty of food her life mission. really good food, nick nack atmosphere. crowded saturday mornings especially. hang out for dallas cowboy players.

large meals. my kids took me out for breakfast here while visiting, i was not prepared for the size of the portions, when i got my order, it was the first time that i could ever remember not being able to eat everything on my plate. the food was excellent, service was good, and theplacehad that 70s feel to it, which i enjoyed. i will be back, only next time i might skip a day of eating beforehand.

it really is bigger in tx at ham & eggs!. we should have taken a picture of the plates. the pancakes were huge - most folks left 3/4 of their stack on the plate when they left. my son's mission was to finish his two 12" (at least) buckwheat cakes and he came close. the biscuits are about the size of large grapefruits and are pretty tasty to be so big - you get 2 with your biscuit and gravy order. i had eggs with bacon, home fries, and a biscuit and gravy. all of it was good. there are 'normal' sized offerings, as well, for those of us who choose not to leave in misery. the owner & staff were very friendly - we enjoyed thisplaceand will return next time we're in town.

my first impression of thisplacewas not a good one. the floors were dirty, and it smelled weird. there was no gravy... and they serve breakfast all day! gravy is not hard to make... the coffee that was brought to our table was warm, if not cool. but... when they brought out the massive pancakes, i decided they tasted above average. they had that cast-iron, burnt good pancake flavor. so, it's worth going. but the entire experience was not amazing.

awesome breakfast, but not the same without jackie!. i'm so glad thisplaceis still open after jackie passed away in 2007. it's not the same without her, though. by the way, to all you sobs who did not attend her funeral - shame on you. i was out of town when it all happened, but i ran into my friend dale wamstad at dfw airport, and we talked about her, and he told me he saw only a small handful of people at the service. she was legendary, and again, shame on the dfw restaurant community and those who did not show up at her memorial service, and thank you dale wamstad, a great friend of jackie's and mine, who did attend the service. god bless you, dale!

there was just something about eating those delicious, enormous pancakes or colossal biscuits and gravy, and then going over to say hello to her. she was a pistol!
i highly recommend the breakfast potatoes with the biscuits and gravy. the pancakes are amazing as well, and so are the ham 'n eggs! you will not leave on an empty stomach - guaranteed! the portions could feed 2-3 people.
