jackie's ham & eggs

large meals. my kids took me out for breakfast here while visiting, i was not prepared for the size of the portions, when i got my order, it was the first time that i could ever remember not being able to eat everything on my plate. the food was excellent, service was good, and the place had that 70s feel to it, which i enjoyed. i will be back, only next time i might skip a day of eating beforehand.

it really is bigger in tx at ham & eggs!. we should have taken a picture of the plates. the pancakes were huge - most folks left 3/4 of their stack on the plate when they left. my son's mission was to finish his two 12" (at least) buckwheat cakes and he came close. the biscuits are about the size of large grapefruits and are pretty tasty to be so big - you get 2 with your biscuit and gravy order. i had eggs with bacon, home fries, and a biscuit and gravy. all of it was good. there are 'normal' sized offerings, as well, for those of us who choose not to leave in misery. the owner & staff were very friendly - we enjoyed this place and will return next time we're in town.

not worth a trip. although the portions are still texas-sized, the food quality has declined to so-so. after eating some of the pancakes, we discovered that the bottom was burnt. of course, that side was down when served.the cream gravy lacked flavor and tasted like a powdered mix. previously, this was a great breakfast stop. now, it's not worth the trip. we will never go back.

links sucked. eggs sucked. potatoes had no spice what so ever. sucked. my wife didn't come close to finishing her plate. i tasted her bacon. sucked.

best breakfast around. huge pancakes too.

my first impression of this place was not a good one. the floors were dirty, and it smelled weird. there was no gravy... and they serve breakfast all day! gravy is not hard to make... the coffee that was brought to our table was warm, if not cool. but... when they brought out the massive pancakes, i decided they tasted above average. they had that cast-iron, burnt good pancake flavor. so, it's worth going. but the entire experience was not amazing.

did not need to eat again til late. i'm a big fan of pancakes/flapjacks and when my order arrived i was amazed.
lucky for my digestive system i decided on not ordering as much as i might do since what i had did me in for most of the rest of the day. if i'd not given any thought to it i may have had the cakes and biscuits with gravy, a combination that may have left me immobile for some time.
the staff were scary in how well they handled the customers and they treated me very well despite the fact i'm 340lbs and was dressed in black leather.
the pancakes were quite good and the potatoes were tasty.

not too bad.... my husband and i went to breakfast at ham and eggs and were shocked by the size of the pancakes. between the two of us we ate only 1/4 of it! we weren't too impressed with the taste of the pancake...they seemed to focus on the wow factor of the gigantic size over the taste of the actual pancake.

i liked it the portions are huge i can get a biskets and gravey and the bisket is the size of my head =] the home fries are amazing!!!!! over all 5 stars=]

not for light eaters.. atmosphere - the usual "hole in the wall" setup, which works very well for ham & eggs. coming in and taking a seat *or finding one on weekends*, brings about comforting thoughts. even though the dining room is well-traveled, everything is kept up and clean. 9 out of 10

service - waitstaff is hardworking, accurate with orders, and very kind. i get the feeling that they don't ask twice about orders too often. incredible given their volume. 10 out of 10.

food - portion control is a foreign concept here, be prepared to bring food home. quality couldn't be higher. pancakes are fluffy and flavorful, omelettes are an abundance of things besides eggs and cheese *a rarity in most breakfast spots*. don't ever expect to go hungry here. 10 out of 10.

value - not inexpensive compared to chains, but given the amount of food you receive and the quality of said food, you won't feel ripped off. they take cash or the standard mastercard/visa. please tip your waitstaff for quality service. 8.5 out of 10

overall - if you are sick of ihop and denny's, haven't eaten in a week, or simply want very good breakfast food in large portions, then i highly recommend ham & eggs to you.

just solid food, great service and fun. my boss and i took our wives one saturday and we all enjoyed the food. stick with the eggs and ham. we eat here at least once a week. our office frequents ham & eggs for lunch. thumbs up. the people are as kind as can be.

come hungry....big portions and always busy.

awesome breakfast, but not the same without jackie!. i'm so glad this place is still open after jackie passed away in 2007. it's not the same without her, though. by the way, to all you sobs who did not attend her funeral - shame on you. i was out of town when it all happened, but i ran into my friend dale wamstad at dfw airport, and we talked about her, and he told me he saw only a small handful of people at the service. she was legendary, and again, shame on the dfw restaurant community and those who did not show up at her memorial service, and thank you dale wamstad, a great friend of jackie's and mine, who did attend the service. god bless you, dale!

there was just something about eating those delicious, enormous pancakes or colossal biscuits and gravy, and then going over to say hello to her. she was a pistol!
i highly recommend the breakfast potatoes with the biscuits and gravy. the pancakes are amazing as well, and so are the ham 'n eggs! you will not leave on an empty stomach - guaranteed! the portions could feed 2-3 people.

huge portions. i was visiting my father in dallas one weekend and he brought me here. i got the waffle which was pretty good, he ordered the pancakes. the pancakes were huge bigger than the plate they were served on. i don't think my father ate more than 1/8 of what they served him and he was stuffed.

gargantuan panckaes. everything is scratch made, and food is great...kind of spot that guy fieri would visit on ddd. mugs are donated and washed/shared, so get over it. service might be a bit moody or sharp, but its always good and fast.

the biscuits are as big as the plate, and are great with the gravy...haven't had anything here that wasn't good and left me looking for a wheelbarrow for my gut on the way out.
