iron monkey

just slightly better than average bar food.. the nj monthly review makes it sound like iron monkey is in the same category as light horse. that's is simply not the case. this is at best just slightly better than average bar food. if however that's what you're looking for then it's great. the first floor bar is a bit scummy to say the least. second floor dinning room and a roof deck bar give you three pretty distinct settings.

i went with the family and while 3 of the dishes were good to okay my ribs however were completely inedible. the sauce had promise, but i think they fished the meat out of a dumpster behind the bjs. they did seem genuinely interested in making amends though, so i'll give them credit for that.

i'd go back for a booze up with the guys and sit for dinner, but if it's with the family we'll keep walking the extra 2 blocks to light horse or one of the other great restaurants in the paulus hook neighborhood.

tater tots was simply awesome so is guac. our server samantha was polite and friendly. loved the draft i had. will go again for sure.

amazing place to hang out with friends and family, the place is amazing, the food is great and the staff is helpful. the beers are amazing and it's always crowded.

i met the love of my life, found my dream job, had three beautiful boys and had the vegetable lasagna at the iron monkey. i've had a great life so far!

great..i really like this place.the food is great, the staff are all really nice and the place is beautiful. they are also strong on the craft beers, which is a bonus. the food is delicious and, for the quality, inexpensive. good food and beer, comfortable place.

bartenders know nothing of the beers on the menu. while i had a full beer (had not had a sip), the bartender was pushing another beer on me and ignoring the people who needed drinks. i get hiring young women to tend bar, but spend the money train them on your menu and to carry on a simple conversation. moving on to the next bar. won't be back.

decent spot, but so crowded all the time. i like their food, but the place is always so crowded.
however, if you are looking for a place that always has a huge variety of micro brews, this is the place for you!

worst ever. terrible food, terrible service, really bad experience. they messed up a sandwich? had 5 people and everyones meal was horrible in some way. just read the zaggats review. top 10 worst places i have ever eaten at in my life!

going down hill. been a fan since 2001, but last two times the place has been poor. either the owner is not, paying attention or there is new owners.

i'll try agia, and hope ita a bad couple of times but not for a while.

nice surprise. after seeing a mixed bunch of reviews on this place i tried it myself. i found it to be very good. service was friendly and the atmosphere was very comfortable, and a little upscale without being stuffy at all. the food was good, and despite them being busy it didn't take too long. the beer list is very extensive and has some great uncommon options. we were in the dining room on the second floor, but the bar also looks like a decent place to grab some drinks. there are a few other places in jersey city with a very similar layout, but this is the only one which i really liked.
