huong vietnamese restaurant

very nice vietnamese food in columbus, ohio. huong was on my very long wish list. we were guests tonight of chinese friends. seven of us enjoyed the excellent salad rolls with peanut dipping sauce followed by the very good pho. i was impressed with the fresh herbs, bean sprouts, jalapeño and lemon wedges that accompany the pho. the service was wonderful. i am looking forward to returning. cây ô r

this place is pretty old school. we were driving through columbus and wanted something healthy and simple, so why not pho?. we came across this place and entered a time warp back to the 70's. look at the calendar on the wall, i seem to remember my parents having something like that, only reads 2013. even the decor. having said that we would be back because the food was good and i was tired of eating greasy burgers again. the pho was fresh and hot, it was just as good as my pho in toronto and vancouver canada. it was tasty.

worthy.. there were seven of us. two locals and five chinese. we all had pho. we all enjoyed it. the service was good. the pho was very good. we will happily return.

those of us "cowtown" long-timers who remember and loved the saigon palace in downtown "cowtown" on front street, have a dandy replacement in the northland area.

huong's is the place!.

pros: pork & shrimp egg rolls, (try them with the peanut sauce), "goi du du tom thit" (ya baby) = papaya salad with fish sauce, peanuts, basil, shrimp, & pork.

pho tum (shrimp), pho ga (chicken), pho ca basa ( basa fish fillet). all the pho comes with fresh basil, cilantro, jalapenos, limes, & bean sprouts. che dau trang (hot white beans, sweet rice and coconut milk). all of the above is almost heavenly, especially on a cold "cowtown" night.

more pros: the chintzy decor, the crappy 80's videos on the tv, the service (quick & efficient).

even more pros: it's in northland the most ethnically diverse neighborhood in columbus. it's cheap. it's really, really good.

the fetching mrs. rat was reluctant to order as she was jonesin' for some good old merican chinese orange chicken. man was she glad we didn't head to the local, happygoldengardenhouseofbrownsauce. she was happy, i was happy, the debit card was happy. all is good.

my first pho experience was here, and everywhere i have been since has paled in comparison. bahn mi is to die for, vermicelli salads (especially with the shrimp rolls) is amazing, and omg the iced coffee. they also have a nice selection of bizarre desserts that have all been great so far. nice people, great service, carryout is also good if you are in a hurry. love this place and the quirky atmosphere that goes with it but i continue to be blown away by the amazing food.

the real deal!!!!!!!! the bahn mi is super.. like over a fucking foot long... yum grilled pork / pate on a seriously all out french roll with all the trimmings. the shrimp vermicelli noodle salad is spot on. all noodle bowls are precise.. and the wings!!! the wings, the wings, the wings are killer!!!!! plus they rotate a sweet set of 70's and 80's classic good sound videos on a 12 inch moniter in the dining and pipe all them great songs through their audio sys. price is good too. i beg you.. do not go here and blow up this diamond kept secret on the north end of c bus.

vietnamese cuisine has become one of our go-to comfort foods. (well, that and ethiopian food… and chinese… and indian… and japanese. you see the pattern.) and of the many good vietnamese restaurants around columbus, we count huong as the best.

great pho!!. i love pho and vietnamese cuisine, so i tried this based on the reviews (just moved here). it lives up to the reviews for pho! it is rich, savory and they do not skimp on ingredients. i've been there 3 times for pho and have never been disappointed. also tried the pork and shrimp spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce. very well done and tasty! some day i will get something different, but that will be hard to do as the pho is terrific.

grilled pork vermicelli bowl wasn't the best i've had, but it was solid. lots of fish sauce and flavorful meat. grabbed a pork bao to go, but i can't recommend it. will be back to try the pho.

best in columbus. aside from the pho, don't miss the pork chops, chicken wings and especially the vietnamese crepe. this place knows how to cook!

public tv travel host. yep, this is it. this is my family's go-to lunch or dinner when we're visiting columbus. we're a well-traveled family, and my 13 year old daughter is disappointed if we don't stop at huong for bun or pho. considering how many good restaurants there are in columbus (there are plenty!), this is high praise. stay at it, huong!

best pho in columbus, hands down. only thing if you dine in you may be waiting a little longer than expected but it's well worth the wait. their pho always puts me in a better mood when it's grey outside.

saw this was #1 pho joint according to crave, and it was good. takeout only took about 3 minutes (awesome!). large serving size w lots of meat at a great price. now that's a great pho-king deal!

i did not like it. it is my least favorite vietnamese place. the service was so friendly but the beef bun was very disappointing. the beef was seasoned so heavily with garlic that it overpowered the dish, and i love garlic.

good first experience. first experience with vietnamese cuisine. i had the combination pho which included tendon and tripe, which didn't taste bad but i didn't like the chewy texture. the other meats were very tender. our server explained how the dish is eaten, with the garnishes and condiments. price was very reasonable and service was excellent. i will return to try other menu items.
