this place rocks!!. the menu is substantial and dynamic, thefoodis great, and the ambiance is perfect if you like a good dive. the service is great too.

you can have a great outing just having the appetizers on the menu, but go deep on the main courses and just bring back the leftovers. they serve the best example of the bloody mary in town. perfect, perfect, perfect--and cheap, too.

normally i like dive bars, but this place was really horrible. thefoodwas particularly bad and the drinks expensive and weak.

not the same. we used to go to holmans almost every sunday for bloody marys and breakfast. the service hasn't been the same since mel left.the servings are smaller and i'm scared some of the dust hanging from the ceiling,fans and cords might fall into my food. looks like all the old staff has been replaced ( didn't recognize any of the servers) makes me wonder if there's new owners? thefoodis still good but don't think we'll return.

i seriously love this place for what it is, the service can be spotty or it can be good, thefoodis inconsistent (stick with the happy hour menu, the portion sizes will prevent a ill belly), but the crowd is casual, drinks are reasonable and the music is cute. it's basicly an old man bar with only one old man in it.

best late nightfoodin portland!. 2 years ago i came to portland on a weekend trip. i had been traveling all day and really wanted a burger and fries...but couldn't find anything. i noshed and nibbled but wasn't satisfied, late night i'm jonesin for a burger and fries. holman's! oh my god is all i have to say...go, you won't be sorry.
