we joined friends for a meal at thehowong last week. this was our first visit for many years to a restaurant which was always a favourite of ours when we lived in glasgow. we enjoyed excellent cuisine and swift, professional service. one of the very best cantonese restaurants in scotland

had lunch with several friends who enjoyed their first visit to thehowong but it was tempered by the outrageous price of £9 for a single glass of red wine ..

excellent. thehowong is simply the best chinese restraunt in scotland, the staff are wonderful, and nothing is ever a problem,very nice family run establishment.

we have been using thehowong almost since it opened in the 1980's, and have never had a bad meal. the food is easily the best in the city, and is always well served, fresh and tasty. i've been taken through to see the kitchens and they were immaculate. tony is now one of my best friends but i'm sure he and his staff offer everyone the same level of service. tony - well done and keep up the good work. see you soon, david clunie 10/10

quality. as a family we have dined in thehowong for several years and it is consistantly good. food and luxury the best cantonese in glasgow.
perhaps the only negative can be the over attention of the staff.

plush. i like the upholstered coziness ofhowong but it says a lot about the quality of chinese food in glasgow that this is considered one of the best. i found the food good but you couldn't mistake it for a chinese meal prepared in, say, hong kong. it's missing a lightness and fragrance. still - lovely dim lighting and great service.

this isn't cheap chinese food but it's served with flair and is of good quality. a real mix of customers enjoy the elegant surroundings of thehowong restaurant. it's a bit of an establishment in glasgow and has never allowed it's standards to slip. you will enjoy a fantastic meal here. the only downside is the desserts, but usually after the first two courses you won't have space. great staff!
