update: very disappointed.. what happened?!?!? update. update 1-19 -15 : in being fair, i wanted to update this post. i was contacted by the owner, sabine, she was very pleasant and apologetic for our experience. we discussed some of the difficulties she, as a small business owner are experiencing. she told me she and her husband read the feedback and make an honest effort to right bad experiences and as a gesture, sabine refunded our entire bill. they have just opened a second restaurant and based on our conversation and her genuineness of her response, we are definitely going to give it a try! thank you sabine for taking the time to discuss our experience and making it right.
it had been about a year since we had eaten here and our experience was disappointing. previous experiences were always positive. the only "complaint" was the small dining room. this visit, we sat in the new expanded dining room, we spent $100 for three of us and the meal was just disappointing. i had the veal cordon bleu which was tough, tasteless and about the size of a boneless chicken breast. the red cabbage was served in small plastic cups, something i wouldn't expect to find on a $18 plate. the pan fried potatoes (fried at some point) tasted warmed over and soggy. on the upside, the draft beer was cold and tasty, the best part of the meal along with the noodles and gravy (at least they were served in a ceramic dessert cup). overall, the food was overpriced and mediocre at best. service was fair. i found the schnitzel ranch was much better value. it will take much convincing before we go back.
