historic dive for packin' in the food. any fan of the old-school american lunch will have a soft spot in their hearts for gus's. a small greek militia works their butts off behind the tiny counter serving up thousands of mini hot dogs 'n sauce, burgers 'n sauce, and sausage, peppers 'n sauce. the outdoor tables are fine for watching the world go by, but the real scene is inside if you can find an empty stool or miniature booth, and gaze in wonder at the mountain of frying onions, the dazzling disarray of hot dogs, and the overflowing pots of greek meat sauce. the entertainment is free, and thefoodis as close to free as you can get these days; at my most recent visit the dogs were still holding steady at 65 cents per, so five bucks should do you fine. bring more money and you'll overeat; it always seems like there's room for just one more.
