mywife and i had a grand dinner on friday night. total cost: $8.40. great food, 1950's atmosphere and quite a clientele.

if you want a quick meal for a super affordable price, stop by gus's. hot dog or hamburger, you'll be happy you stopped at a local mom and pop shop.

hot dogs in the capital region seems to be a hot topic - everyone has their favorite. i do as well, and these aren't it.  i can't deny that i stop by a few times a year, but i tend to eat the burgers. and whatever you do, stay outside.  other reviewers seem to think there is some kind of show inside - well, i've been there and think that you're better off not seeing the interior.  just take a seat outside on the picnic benches, which are considerably more inviting anyway, and munch your dogs.

eaten here once. there will not be a second time. while i am a fan of mini hot dogs, i do not know from whence their meat sauce comes. i would rather be forced to watch roseanne barr dance naked while at the same time i am forced to orally copulate a rabid porcupine than eat here. the staff has all the charm and warmth of a kgb interrogation.

historic dive for packin' in the food. any fan of the old-school american lunch will have a soft spot in their hearts for gus's. a small greek militia works their butts off behind the tiny counter serving up thousands of mini hot dogs 'n sauce, burgers 'n sauce, and sausage, peppers 'n sauce. the outdoor tables are fine for watching the world go by, but the real scene is inside if you can find an empty stool or miniature booth, and gaze in wonder at the mountain of frying onions, the dazzling disarray of hot dogs, and the overflowing pots of greek meat sauce. the entertainment is free, and the food is as close to free as you can get these days; at my most recent visit the dogs were still holding steady at 65 cents per, so five bucks should do you fine. bring more money and you'll overeat; it always seems like there's room for just one more.

not impressed. all our friends love gus's. we went expecting a great local dive, and ended up hating al the food (its inexpesive enough that we tried everything). maybe its something you have to grow up eating, but we won't be going back.

this place is awesome. i love to sit at the picnic tables and watch the characters go by. btw i actually like their burgers better than the dogs!

the hot dog taste test. i grew up with charlie's hot dogs and famous lunch so i decide to do a taste test on the three most popular. here is how i rated them i am sure not all will agree. first place: famous lunch ( great sauce)
second place: charlie's hot dogs ( very good sauce)
third place : gus's hotdogs ( the sauce was kinda bland)
thats how i rated each but i still would go to all three depending on where i am at, at the time i feel like having a hot dog.
