gudee pizza & cafe

there is always a place that you always want to go to when thinking of eating out, just because the atmosphere is good and the food is great. to me gudee pizza & cafe is one of those places in abu dhabi. i have been enjoying eating there ever since my firsttimeand always take my friends there.

the food is always well prepared and the sweets are just as delicious. i love to start with their delicious ash soup then start with a generous portion of gudees salad then have chicken tikka or lamb tikka and end it with a nice bread pudding or their lovely prepared kunafa. i have tried most of their menu but i tend to stick to the afghani dishes they serve and always love trying their new desserts. below are some of the pictures of the dishes that i enjoy at gudees.

the restaurant has expanded with now has a new interior decoration. in addition to new menu items that were delicious such as the cardamom chicken, saffron chicken, and the cheese gnocchi.

دائماً هناك أماكن نحب نروح لها عشان نأكل ونستمتع بالوقت، مطعم قودي هو احد هذه المطاعم بالنسبة لي. من عرفت المطعم وانا دائماً امر عندهم حق غدا ولا حق عشاء والاكل دائماً طازج ولذيذ. وتعودت دائماً اخذ أصدقائي هناك واحب اقترح المكان على اللي يسألني عن بعض المطاعم المفضلة عندي.

الاكل دائماً يكون محضر طازجا والحلويات عندهم لذيذة. أحب أبدا بشوربة الاش اللذيذة وعقبها أبدا بالسلطة وحق الطبق الرئيسي اخذ تكا الدجاج او اللحم واخلص بحلاوة الكنافة او البودنق بالحليب.

المطعم توسع وصار اكبر وشرح اكثر والديكور تغير وصار احلا من قبل. بالاضافة انهم رادو عدة أطباق في المينيو الجديد منها الدجاج بالهيل والدجاج بالزعفران وباستا النوكي بالجبن. تحت بتحصلون بعض الاطباق والصور من المطعم.

unique food but extremely slow service. we had gone there for breakfast. we ordered 3 dishes for each of us and they arrived at different intervals. each had a gap of 20 mins so while one was eating the rest were either already done or were waiting to be served. we lost our patience by thetimethe 3rd dish arrived and left.
although it's worth mentioning that the cuisine is unique. if they are better staffed it's worth giving a try.

i got to know about goodies cafe from one of our fellow foodies on zomato who enticed me with a pic of their kinder pancake. besides their menu seemed really interesting, so i thought i'd visit them with some like minded friends of mine.

goodies is on al dhafra opposite sofra istanbul. securing a parking spot can be a nightmare especially during a late visit as most of the parking in the area are reserved for residents. the cafe is small with limited seating and i was surprised to see that it was almost full even on a weekday till about closingtimecause that was when we left. the ambience is nice and the walls are real artsy with some having graffiti and others catchy hand drawings. the service was slightly slow but we weren't really bothered as we were waiting on a friend. they have an exhaustive list of drinks to offer, right from healthy smoothies and fresh fruit nd veggie drinks to different variations of tea and coffee. their breakfast menu is sound, salads are decent and there's a make your own bowl option which i went for. you also have pizza and pasta to choose from and their special afghani options that complete the mains.

i ordered the classic detox drink in which i felt the ginger was slightly overpowering but was refreshing nonetheless. i had to tailor my salad fromtimetotimeas my server returned on 2 occasions to tell me that some ingredients were not available (not impressed). we also ordered the special pizzas (butter chicken and oman chips pizzas) which were quite good. the highlight of our visit was desserts. the kinder pancake is a great idea and what sets this apart from others is the taste the melted white chocolate adds to the chocolate sauce. the choco lava cake was also amazing and worth the try.

final verdict: some unique offerings that make it worth a visit. some items on the menu are pricey but innovative nonetheless. will be back for sure.

considering the price of their food, you’ll expect an above average experience may it be taste or presentation, but there isn’t anything spectacular, lol. too dimly lit place and it took longertimethan expected for the food to arrive. the food’s okay, they have complimentary tea cake that tastes good but overall def not worth the price. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

gudee's is seriously all about that comfort food, comfort atmosphere and friendly staff

-famous for their organic chicken biryani,

-chicken chips oman sliders

-halwa puri breakfast (my favorite) with saffron chai karak

"i just listed my favorite items" but their whole menu is fascinating, afghani + american infusions and some emarati touches over the menu

hands down one of the best places to have varieties of dessert if you aren't into heavy comfort food.

they've got so much to choose from not once have i been disappointed in their dessert selection
- zafran milk cake
-lotus cheesecake
-sticky date pudding
- my alltimeaward winner "kinder crepe rolls" to drool for

shout out to the extremely welcoming staff, specially omar and rohit (and everyone else who comes and talks to me in french and makes sure i still remember my forgotten french language) whom also never seize to recommend new items on the menu and have already learned how my palates work and make sure i'm always satisfied.

we ordered pizza and salad, although we of course came for their famous dessert. we arrived and the only 2 free tables still had food from the customers before on it. nobody bothered to welcome us or clean the table so we could sit for 10 minutes.... just awkwardly standing around. the pizza arrived filled with super processed meat which was tasteless. by thetimemy friend finished his pizza and we asked for my salad three times the salad arrived. when we asked why it took so long they said because they are busy. so it takes 40 minutes to make a salad but only 25 for a pizza. soggy, drenched in oil and only about 3 pieces of avocado. canned beets and oranges and the lettuce was old, some of it yellow already. really didn't feel like desert.

the quality of ingredients is low which does not justify their prices at all
food is completely over priced
service is ridiculously slow
food is unhygienic (this has been reported to the authorities)

have been to gudee a handful number of times. finally decided to review this amazing restaurant. it’s got very warm and cozy ambiance simply perfect for any occasion. their cakes and desserts in general are to die for. they are perfect! plenty of options. freshly prepared with love.
thistimearound i was blown away by their coffee! ordered the flat white and i must say it’s the smoothest flat white i have ever tried. to complement it, i got the dates cake as recommended by the staff and it was so satisfying.

i have been a regular at gudee’s for a longtimenow. they have been serving quality food with great consistency over the past few years. my absolute favourites are there mantu dumplings and their kabuli pulav. the staff has always been courteous and conduct the dining with utmost elegance. it is a must try place and highly recommended for anyone looking to treat themselves with an absolute culinary delight.

this is my secondtimetrying an afghan-cuisine, i think this type of food is gone be on my top list dished. the decor of the place the welcoming of the arabic “laban”, the comfortable chairs, the variety of the food menu. all of this were combined and did a great job in anticipating my next visit. the only thing that bug me a bit are the prices i believe they were a bit high.
for appetizers tried the samosa really yummy. i have ordered a 3 mix pizza; chips oman, margarita and buffalo, the first kind become an alltimefavorite of mine the crust of the pizza was so light that encourage you to eat more with that drizzle of olive oil in top, just perfect. highly recommend it for a change with a huge group to have a bite of all their goodies.

very slow service. appetizers took very long and its now 1:10 p.m the waitress said the delay is because its breakfast timing! lasttimeto go. bad experience!

i went there yesterday and the service was beyond horrible, everytimei go there i have to ask more than once for them to bring me my drink. yesterday, when i was eating my pasta, something hurt my mouth and it ended up being a herb that was not cut up properly. and then when i asked for the manager to come over so that i could explain to her what had happened they told me she was somewhere up stairs or busy. after they gave us the bill we saw that it was more than what they had to give us but we just thought that they gave us a refund for the pasta so we didn’t really think about it. as i was going to get into my car that guy ran and told me that they gave us the wrong bill. so when the guy came back with the right bill he said that the manager would come out but i told him we had waited too long and had to leave because it was late. the service was horrible, their food is not well prepared, they messed up with our bill and the manger didn’t seem to even care until we were about to leave. this used to be one of my favorite restaurants but now it just is not anymore.

i’ve tried multiple pizzas especially their wacky ones that has hot cheetos as a topping and oman chips. in my opinion they were good for a firsttimebut i don’t think i’ll ever get them again. mainly because there wasn’t much flavor in them. i love their saffron milk cake.that is a must to try there!!

since the firsttimei have visited guddee i can see the difference. my firsttimewas in a very longtime!! can’t even remember( before renovation) now it is convenient to be dinning in and there are more seating options. i was satisfied with all what i have ordered. the pink sauce risotto was so good ! the beetroot salad was the same also and two appetizers were also satisfying.
وايد فرق عن اخر مرة ييت ( من زمااااان، قبل التعديل) الحين شي مجال الواحد يقعد، صار اوسع و أفضل .. جربت كذا نوع و كل شي كان يستاهل .. اخس شي فالمكان انه ماشي باركنات..

the place has a very good food and delicious. however i've never went happy out from this restaurant. the service is very bad, everytimethere must be a mistake in my order, and a delay in the food. having a great taste of food with a bad service is worst. i had a talk with the managers but there is no difference. ive been going to the same place since 3 years and i always hope for a better service, but my hopes never reached satisfaction.

i would say when going to a restaurant you should enjoy the whole experience rather than just the food. the food in this restaurant is good and creative in some part, however the service is really bad. i've been in there for more than 4 times and everytimei go there i face the same problem with the service. the food takes longtimeand i the wrong order several times.
