second try paid off. after a less than impressive experience right after gck opened, we decided to go back and try it again. very glad we did.

got there around 6pm on friday evening and waited less than 5 minutes for a table. started with the chips, salsa, and a bowl ofgreenchile queso...these are excellent. we're pretty sure we could come back just for this and maybe dessert. she ordered thegreenchile chicken stew, i got a southwest salad with chicken and a couple different dressings, both good. stew was a tad spicy for us but so good, i am planning on ordering it next time. salad was fresh, chicken good, dressings creative and tasty. for dessert we orderedgreenchile apple pie & lemon custard pie, both delicious.

service was great. the only thing that needed a bit of improvement was paying attention to our water glasses. why don't more restaurants use bigger glasses? our waiter was plenty attentive and the food came out in a timely manner. the bartender even said hi and thanks when we were leaving, which is a huge improvement over the horrible excuse of a bartender who was working there right after opening (we had to sit at the bar the first time around, no service period, that was a bust).

good experience. will go back, probably soon.

i'm a little disappointed! it started out good...good margarita, good queso and salsa, but then things took a bad turn. it was late, so they were out of everything, but once we found something they did have it was underwhelming.greenchile was decent, but the black beans, rice, and chicken were flavorless! i do not salt my food after preparation, ever, but i had to poor it on here! salt and pepper people! it's cooking 101!

poor management, unorganized, waitstaff was rude, hostess was nice and very polite. she was a short little dark haired girl. just plain bad restaurant and i won't be back

lots of good potential. thegreenchili kitchen has a lot of potential. the young hostess with the dark hair was polite and very sweet. there was a wait but she tried hard not to make us wait long. the food was good but service needed some work . service was hit or miss but she was trying hard but it just was not her night. give it some time. they can only get better. the good was very good. loved the stuffed releno and the super nachos with extra chili.

it took us awhile to try this place out because of all of the negative reviews. tried it out today, busiest restaurant day of the year - mother's day, and it was unbelievably good. upon reading some of the other reviews on here, it's clear some people's taste buds have been "tastewashed" by overly salty foods you find at chili's or sonic. the ingredients here are fresh, organic, and local! obviously they are going to run out of things. they don't buy processed, chemical-laden junk to serve you. kudos to this family for doing it right. everything from the chips, salsa, and queso (withgreenchiles and local ground beef) to the watermelon agua fresca, to the entrees was superb. we will be back and will quickly become regulars. keep it up!!

"worst restaurant ever" ...(sarcasm intended). reading these negative reviews is confusing to me.
why are people so rotten and ready to be snotty online?
don't expect valet to park your limo or helicopter.... oh you don't have one?
your reviews sound like you do, mr./ms. fancy pants.
don't be expecting a super star chef to dazzle you for the low, low price of.... get over yourself.

it's a cozy small town restaurant.
the staff is friendly, professional, and usually on the ball.
clean bathrooms and dining room. that says a lot.

their pie and chicken dinners are out of this world. add meat to the queso!
my favorite is the homestyle chicken enchiladas. don't tell mom it's better than her southwest casserole.
almost everything is smothered ingreenchile. (what did you expect? wolf brand chili?)
if that's not your "thing", then don't bother.

if i had any complaints, they would be
"mccormicks is horrible in a margarita" (was still pretty nice)
and
"don't fold a hot tortilla into a triangle, it is not usable when pulled back apart."

like it. we went for cinco de mayo -- 2pm on a sunday. luckily we had missed the rush, as they close at 4pm sundays.
i want this place to do well, love the concept and the building, decor.
we ordered guac & the salsa trio - everything tastes fresh, bright & spicy. we shared the stacked enchiladas with no name ranch sliced beef. they put alot of cheese on them, but otherwise tasty. we do christmas style with both red &greenchile. we requested fried egg on top as that is the way we have them in southern nm ... they can't do this, even though the waitress said they have had several requests... why won't they accommodate this request?
"house made" sangria for $7 was a little disappointing. small wine glass, seemed like plain red wine or pre-made sangria mix with added slice of orange & lime. great prices on beers - pacifico only $3.25 so i changed to that. margaritas are good, but pricey at $8 for small jar.

christmas chile!. so excited to try this place! we absolutely love southern nm cuisine. the place was packed, even early bird on a friday night. drinks & food took way too long, but everyone was friendly and we hope that improves. most of us had the flat/stacked enchiladas -- was hoping could top with fried egg, but they are not familiar with this (as we always had this way in nm) ... i had mine "christmas" with bothgreen& red chile, but too much cheese on the enchiladas. i tried the calabacitas - sauteed vegetable side and they were too soft/overcooked, hopefully that will improve. great margaritas & decent beer selection. love the interior and can't wait to go back to try thegreenchile stew and posole and rotisserie chicken! we were too stuffed to have a sopapilla but the table had red chile honey and i need to save room for that next time!

the food at thegreenchile kitchen is excellent. however, the service is hit or miss. last two times we've been in, they've completely left something off the order, or ignored the table. i don't know if it's due to understaffing or the coverage, it just seems to have days (especially busy ones) where it isn't firing on all cylinders. the food is great though, we love everything on the menu. if you can be patient with the service, it's a great meal!!

was here last weekend with friends and gift certificate. we were greeted and immediately seated (next to the bar). drinks, chips and salsa were served promptly. i'm not a huge fan of "red" salsa, but this by far was the best i've had any restaurant here in oklahoma. drinks were constantly filled along with chips, fresh and warm. i was a little surprised you had to pay for queso, but it was worth it in the end. plenty for 4 hungry people and was pretty much well considered a "top-shelf" queso. it was a white queso topped with "hot"greenchile. we missed the small print to add beef. we all enjoyed dishes, but i will only write about mine. i could decide if i wanted chile rellenos or carne adovada. the waitress immediately asked if i liked cinnamon and chipotle. i took about a second or two to answer and she said, "hold on, i will be right back!". within a few seconds she brought me out a sample which i thoroughly enjoyed. as a matter of fact, i was able to share the sample with my party. so the carne adovada was my choice. it was fantastic. great smoky, sweet and spicy flavor. a very well balanced dish with black beans, spanish rice and jamaican slaw -which resembled some version of a tex-mex pico de gallo. i attempted to eat everything like everyone else, but we all wound-up getting a to-go box. i have no reason not to visit here again. i hope it's sooner than later.

peanut butter pie is great, service is too fast. the two of us went here on a thursday night recently. it was nearing the end of a picture perfect april day with warm temperatures and blue skies. it was almost nice enough to eat outside, but we decided to eat inside instead.

first, let's talk about the service. our server was friendly and took care of us well. however, after she delivered our entrees, she made several visits that were too close together in time. we felt that she was in a rush to get our table clear. this confused us because the restaurant had empty tables for the entire time that we were there. it was filling up, but it wasn't at capacity yet.

next, let's talk about the food. i got the flat chicken enchiladas with hotgreenchile sauce. wow, that sauce was spicy! it's about the same level of spiciness as what you would find in a store-bought bottle of "hot" salsa. i was glad to have some cheese inside the enchilada to help cool down my mouth. the chicken inside was clearly 100% tender, white meat. my side of refried beans was quite good. the side of rice was not much better or worse than rice at other mexican or tex-mex restaurants. the pico de gallo was also not remarkable.

she got the 1/2 chicken withgreenchile mashed potatoes and a house salad. she said that the salad was good but that the potatoes were only okay -- not muchgreenchile flavor in them. the same was said of hergreenchile lemonade. she thought it had more lime juice thangreenchiles in it.

for dessert, we shared a piece of their chocolate peanut butter pie. i loved it. you get a rich peanut butter filling in a chocolate cookie crust with chopped peanuts and whipped cream on top. i like more peanut butter than chocolate in a chocolate peanut butter pie, so this was fantastic.

great decor, pretty good food. first, the food was pretty good. i went here for lunch on a friday with a friend. both of our meals were served hot and the presentation on the plate was attractive. i got the lunch special with pork stew and a mixed greens salad with thegreenchile buttermilk dressing. the pork stew is simple -- little chunks of pork in a sea ofgreenchiles and a potato chunk here and there. the flour tortilla that comes with it is good for soaking up the broth. the salad was crisp and fresh tasting. there was just enough dressing in the serving cup to make the salad taste good without overwhelming it.

the service was better than some other urbanspoon reviewers have experienced. the only bad thing that happened is that when my bowl of pork stew was delivered to my table, it was quite full of stew. when the server put it in front of me, some of the broth spilled out onto my pants. he immediately went back to the kitchen, came back with a wet cloth, soaked up the broth, and offered his apologies. fortunately, i was not wearing particularly nice pants or pants that are difficult to clean. afterwards, our server struck a balance between asking how we were doing and not overwhelming us with questions.

it's worth another try for the posole to see how it compares with others i have eaten. however, as another reviewer said, i don't think i am going to make a special trip to yukon just to have a second visit.

standard tex mex food and rushed service. no thanks.. my fiance and i decided to stop here for dinner. i had heard/read about how this place was suppose to be unique due to the use ofgreenchilies in the majority of their dishes. i was expecting some unique creations usinggreenchilies but was sadden to see the standard tex-mex menu you see in any chain mexican restaurant. the only difference is some of the items claimed to featuregreenchilies in the sauces.

they started us out with chips and salsa. nothing special. i decided to try thegreenchili rubbed roasted chicken withgreenchile mashed potatoes andgreenchili mac and cheese. the chicken was moist but even with the rub it was bland. the mashed potatoes had an few small pieces ofgreenchili in them but not enough to taste their spice. the mac and cheese was a gooey cheesy mess again with only a few small pieces ofgreenchili. all the food required the use of salt and pepper. the only item i had that actually had somegreenchili flavor was mygreenchili lemonade.

the service here was ok. it felt like our server was rushing us though our meal. the food came out very fast. we had not even tasted out food and the server was back asking how we liked it. not even half way through our dinner, our server was asking if we wanted desert. we had not even touched our pie and the check was at the table. overall, now worth going out of your way.

great new mexicangreenchile. i'm an arizona transplant and i truly miss mexican food withgreenchili. i'm not a huge fan of tex-mex style, (tried them all, ted's, chellinos, abuleos, ricky's etc.) and they all lack the flavor i'm looking for. i had the steak burrito withgreenchili sauce at the gck and was quite happy and look forward to trying other menu items. the service was good, waitstaff pleasant and helpful. the chips and salsa were not an additional charge. their salsa has a chipotle chili flavor, very different from ok style salsa. i read the reviews of gck on both yelp and urbanspoon and think the negative reviews were based on the style vs. quality of food. if you love tex-mex food gck will be a bit out of the box for you. personally, i could putgreenchili on everything. i recommend giving gck a try. it is quite tasty.

greatgreenchile cooking--especially for oklahoma. i'm a bit puzzled by all the negative reviews. having lived in new mexico many years ago i gaugegreenchile cooking by how good of a job is done ongreenchile enchiladas. gck does them well--not as good as you find in many places in nm but good enough to suit me and bring back memories.

the salsa was good, the service was good--and friendly.   we did not have to wait for a table and the prices, while higher than most mexican places, are not terrible. i have no problem recommending this place to anyone who likesgreenchile cooking.
