great local place, service that connects. real people at a great local place. they go out of your way to make your dining experience great. it was not surprising to read other reviews after our experiences there, talking about thetimethe owner took to talk about greece and an upcoming trip. in our case, the owner heard we wanted juice for our daughter and went out of his way to meet our needs. this type of service has been exemplified everytimewe have been there in some way.

greek food better than in greece!. i was taking the family to greece, so my wife and i wanted to introduce the kids to greek food before we left. having been to the greek isles (restaurant) many times before, we took the kids here for some great food. as we were talking to the owner, it was brought up that were were going there. the owner tooktimeout of her busy day to come over and talk to my kids about greece, its food, culture, etc. it wasn't expected, but it was very welcome. she runs an amazing restaurant. not only is the service excellent, but it is extremely clean and well decorated. the men's bathroom has to be the nicest looking public restroom i've even seen. most importantly though is the food. it is incredible, and i have to admit that i have an even greater appreciation for it now that i've been to athens and santorini. when i was there i had some great meals, but to be honest, the greek isles were better than most places we ate at. yes, i used tripadvisor to find the restaurants in greece. they were very good, but the greek isles is not only very authentic, but it could easily stand as one of the better greek restaurants in athens or santorini.

if you like authentic greek food, head to the greek isles in west chester. it's a lot cheaper than going to greece, and tastes just as good if not better!

everything you want in a fabulous greek restaurant! incredible food, warm greek style atmosphere with family pictures adorning the walls and the best service you could ask for. the owner found out it was our firsttimeto visit the restaurant and went out of his way to welcome us, asked where we were from and gave us samples - have the baklava it's the perfect amount of sweetness, not too much, not too little. the food was delish - we'll definitely be returning!

fantastic spot, so glad we found it!. we live in oxford and have traveled to west chester to try a few other gyro shops in town. we just happened to drive by greek isles and wanted to give it a try. i am so glad we did! the decor is true to theme and beautifully hand done. you can really tell the owners went into greattimeand detail, which i appreciate. the variety and quality of the food is unmatched to what i've ever seen before. i told my husband, this is not a "gyro shop," it really is a fine greek restaurant.
friendly service, great atmosphere, delicious food. we will be back! thank you!

great greek food and other interesting dishes. my wife and i took the two hour drive to go the west chester's ikea yesterday and we knew we'd have to stop here and eat. so when i looked up on urbanspoon what the best restaurant was in this city, i was a little bit surprised it was a greek place. even more surprisingly, it was located in a very ordinary strip mall building. the reviews that this place has made me even more suspicious because they seem to be too good to be true.

but i believe that this place does have a lot going for it after our meal was done. first of all, the place is slathered from top to bottom in the traditional greek blue that you find in most restaurants. there was only one lady working the entiretimewe were there, and only at the very end did two more workers come in. but she practically had a full restaurant of 7-8 tables! i thought to myself that we were going to be waiting forever for our food but surprisingly, we did not. she brought out our kids french fries and chicken strips first. the french fries were the standard kind that i have found served at virtually all greek/german food places. they are normally extremely bland but this place put a special seasoning on them which i thought had a very large resemblance to old bay seasoning. whatever it was, was awesome.

my wife's chicken shwarma was fantastic with the tzatziki sauce blowing her away. "best tzatziki sauce i've ever had" she proclaimed at the end of the meal. but she did feel her chicken was over-seasoned. that's not a word in my vocabulary though.

my hercules burger was ridiculous. this thing was a monster that needed to be held together with a steak knife. imagine a perfectly grilled burger patty topped with crispy bacon and gyro meat, then add lettuce, tomato and a special sauce with chunks of feta cheese slathered on. this bad boy had to be eaten fast because the bun was practically falling apart, but i was much obliged. we also got two pieces of spanikopita which were somewhat unremarkable. but for a price of right around $30, we couldn't complain as it fed our family very well and we all left happy. overall, we were really happy we could find this place off the highway and we'd come back to it again.

best flavor ever. my wife and i moved to the area a year ago and a co-worker and my cousin both highly recommended greek isles. as soon as we walked through the door, we felt at home, and we're no where near greek. coming from california to texas and now to ohio, kosta and his family put together some of the best flavors that i have ever eaten in my life. on top of that, kosta always spendstimewith his customers and makes us feel like family. sometimes, we don't even order, kosta just tells us to just grab a seat and he will take care of us. if you like great food and a warm atmosphere, come to greek isles... often!!!

very enjoyable. i stumbled across this restaurant this weekend with my family, and we were pleasantly surprised! the owner greeted us warmly, and gave even us a free appetizer (greek chips- the best pita chips i have ever had, paired with a delicious vegetarian feta dip)

for the meal, we ordered dolmades, spanakópita, and gyros. the dolmades were some of the best i've ever tasted (try them warm). the spanakópita and gyros were pretty standard, but still very enjoyable.

the service was excellent. prompt and very friendly!

i will definitely be returning the nexttimei am in the area.

to tfgreek. our business is just fine. nohing disgusting about it, our food and the service. funny, i dont recall anyone such as you in my place yesterday.i cooked everything myself, and wasnt rude to anyone. i am not that way. everyones order was taken ontimeand made fresh. and as far as me being a surgeon, you are right. i am not, and never claimed to be. i dont misrepresent myself, my ego doesnt require it. i am a cardiac perfusionist for 23 years. i keep people on artificial life support during the surgical procedure.by replacing the functions of their heart and lungs while keeping them flat lined, in a highly technical way, so if you wish to discuss anything else, do it face to face in the open. dont hide behind the internet. why dont you donate ur body to science, maybe they can discover how crap comes out of your mouth as well as your ass.

best greek food ever. if you are ever randomly in this area you must try this place!!! i live in san francisco and like to think that i have good taste in food considering how many gems of mediterranean food restaurants there are in san francisco. the staff is very friendly and accommodating. you walk up to a counter and order and they bring you the food. my favorite is the zak attack.... this is a gyro with sausage and lamb and it is spicy! yum! i am craving it again as i write this. the pita is fresh and soft and served warm. very great prices as well. they serve wine and beer also if you prefer. try it out.

kosta and his food. my family recently visited greek isles for mother's day, the secondtimefor my wife and i, and the firsttimefor my two daughters. the food is amazing, with a home-made taste and presentation, and consistently so. kosta is a very endearing host, with stories and recommendations provided in plenty despite his long and busy day. he gave us a piece of chocolate cake when we left, which we enjoyed immensely. we had to move away from cincinnati, and will miss greek isles, which has become our gold standard for greek food and hospitality. thank you so much for what you provide.

dear susie.. in response to your review of my restaurant. the help wanted sign is there because 2 of my employees graduated from college and moved on to further there professional careers. employees i have had since july 14, 2007. there is no clue as you eluded to. furthermore, the restaurant business like no other is always unpredictable. there is no telling what a day of business will create. thus i am happy we were busy, especially in this economic crunch. as for the combo price, it is not $14. and never has been. i designed our menu, our price points and the way the restaurant operates. this includes not having servers to pay, thus keeping costs down, increasing the savings to our customers. if the food was to your liking, and the restaurant was clean, i thank you for the compliment. our service is always customer oriented. we pride ourselves on that. we are the only greek restaurant in the top 100 of all 1,397 restaurants in the greater cincinnati region. as a stand alone, non franchise concept in a conservative demographic, i am proud of what my wife and i created, 4 years running. beating the odds. so if you decide to dine with us again, please identify yourself to either my wife or myself. we appreciate you review.

response to mr smithson. mr. smithson,

my initial reaction to your review was puzzled, however, after reading your comments a couple of times i recognized that your review was generated by anger. initially i was not going to take thetimeto respond to your comments, however, i feel that i have an obligation to my customers and to my 11yr old son who after reading your comments said;" mom you are not a rude person and why is this man lying? "

i consider myself fortunate to live in a country that gives us so many freedoms and allows us the freedom to express our opinions and thoughts. a luxury that many of us take for granted and sometimes ignore. our country is made of up of a melting pot of people from different cultures. i am part of that melting pot and consider it an honor to be able to represent my culture, its cuisine and to have the ability to share it with everyone that walks in our restaurant.

i'll address your comments in the sequence of which you wrote.

upon your first visit, you wrote that my employee took a pizza, you assumed was your son's to the shop next door to be baked. when you inquired about your son's meal my employee did indicate to you that your son's pizza was in our oven and should be ready in a few minutes. you were also informed that the pizza taken next door was a carry out lunch for another customer; however you omitted that from your comments.

next you claim our food is mediocre and the ambiance is tacky. i stand behind the freshness and rich flavors of everything we prepare. as well as the authenticity to our greek cuisine. our menu is well thought out and offers a variety to choose from. my kitchen is open for a reason. there is nothing mediocre about the dishes we prepare. we serve hundreds of people weekly. with a vast majority dining with us on a regular basis. our food reflects our culture. when you call our restaurant tacky, understand that you are mocking my culture and what it represents. i designed the greek isles utilizing our national colors and its architecture.

on your second visit, if you recall, our restaurant was packed with customers. there was a line of people waiting patiently to order and be seated of which you and your family were a part of. we wait on and serve customers in the order of which they entered our restaurant. your family and no one else were ignored and never have been at the greek isles. we pride ourselves on customer satisfaction. once your order was taken, and you were seated, a mistake was in fact made by us. your ticket order was placed out of sequence in the manner of which food was being prepared. when that was realized, we attempted to apologize to you and rectify the situation; however, your judgment was clouded by your hostility and anger. you ripped your gift certificate in pieces and threw it at me in a hostile manner. i wonder what your reaction would have been had a male was at other side of the counter and waiting on you.

consequently, you were not mistreated, ignored, or treated poorly by any member of my restaurant. you have your right to express the sequence of events as you recollect and i have a right to comment as to my recollection of the events. fortunately, my recollections are supported by our restaurant video surveillance and also costumers that witnessed your behavior and apologized for your behavior. however, i do want to take this opportunity to apologize to you for not getting your food out on time.

at the end of the day sir, i know that i work very hard to provide for my family and also work hard to share a little part of my culture with my customers thru my cuisine. i recognize that your comments were anger motivated and your judgment clouded by anger as well.

may god bless you and your family

hello cabkag. my friend, thank you for your kind words and support. i am also glad you enjoy eating at eretis location, she is cousins with my wife. as far as the menu is concerned, i have added to it. we now serve rack of lamb with rice, as well as filet mingon. i am expanding a healthe low cal selection. still staying within the greek cuisine. but i also realize that i cant be everything to everyone. sauteed peppers in a tomato and garlic saice has been tried with success. but not so much stuffed cabbage. i am growing though. thank you again for the ideas. god bless

dear alexsmom. i have grown up in the restaurant industry. my parents owned greek restaurants in greece, new york and cleveland. both my borther-in laws are chefs owners of restaurants. my wifes family owns restaurants themselves. so i guess i have some experience in the restaurant field. now not only have i lived in greek neihborhoods like others have claimed, i am 100% greek. my mother, grandmother, aunts and so on only cooked greek food. what i am saying is i have experience in the field. so when i vote against another, it may be beacuse they deviate from greek cuisine so much that there food can not be called greek. besides i have known food critics to vote against successful restaurants only because the restroom mirrors were not dusted to their liking. if you choose to experience our restaurant, plese let me know it is you and i would discuss this further if you wish. god bless.
