the best!. we had dinner at greekislesand were thrilled with the food and the gracious host/owner. he served us personally and catered to our every need. offered us tastes of different things. we had the sampler and the combinations of meats were outstanding. and the greek salad was the best i have ever had. they allow you to dress your own salad, so you do not get soggy lettuce. we will be back!

greek food better than in greece!. i was taking the family to greece, so my wife and i wanted to introduce the kids to greek food before we left. having been to the greekisles(restaurant) many times before, we took the kids here for some great food. as we were talking to the owner, it was brought up that were were going there. the owner took time out of her busy day to come over and talk to my kids about greece, its food, culture, etc. it wasn't expected, but it was very welcome. she runs an amazing restaurant. not only is the service excellent, but it is extremely clean and well decorated. the men's bathroom has to be the nicest looking public restroom i've even seen. most importantly though is the food. it is incredible, and i have to admit that i have an even greater appreciation for it now that i've been to athens and santorini. when i was there i had some great meals, but to be honest, the greekisleswere better than most places we ate at. yes, i used tripadvisor to find the restaurants in greece. they were very good, but the greekislesis not only very authentic, but it could easily stand as one of the better greek restaurants in athens or santorini.

if you like authentic greek food, head to the greekislesin west chester. it's a lot cheaper than going to greece, and tastes just as good if not better!

fantastic spot, so glad we found it!. we live in oxford and have traveled to west chester to try a few other gyro shops in town. we just happened to drive by greekislesand wanted to give it a try. i am so glad we did! the decor is true to theme and beautifully hand done. you can really tell the owners went into great time and detail, which i appreciate. the variety and quality of the food is unmatched to what i've ever seen before. i told my husband, this is not a "gyro shop," it really is a fine greek restaurant.
friendly service, great atmosphere, delicious food. we will be back! thank you!

great food, great atmosphere. we were very happy with our choice of greekislesas "where to eat tonight". the food was authentic, very tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced. the owner was incredibly attentive, showed obvious pride in his food, as well an obvious love for his restaurant and its patrons. check it out - we will certainly be back.

authentic greek food and hospitality. if you've visited greece (i've been twice), then you know just how disappointing greek restaurants in the us can be. greekislesis different. if you want authentic greek food, if you want gyros that actually cook on that "spinning thing," and if you want that greek experience where the owner treats you like family, then eat here and eat here often. while you're at it, buy a bottle of salad dressing to take home with you.

simply the best!. hands down this is the best greek restaurant in the city. maybe in the state or beyond.
the owners and the staff are so friendly and cater to your needs and likes. if you want something a little different please don't be afraid to ask.
their pork souvlaki and hero's are simply the best my wife and i have ever had. we've tried others before and since having them at the greekislesothers disappoint and don't match up to taste or quality. the personal service from beginning to the end in just outstanding.

fantastic service. traveling to blue ash, ohio for a quick visit, we discovered the greekislesvia the internet. we decided to check it out, and it was indeed a "find". the service was great and the food outstanding. the owner was very attentive and wanted to make sure we were pleased with our orders. it was a very relaxing atmosphere where you could just take it easy and be pampered!

kosta and his food. my family recently visited greekislesfor mother's day, the second time for my wife and i, and the first time for my two daughters. the food is amazing, with a home-made taste and presentation, and consistently so. kosta is a very endearing host, with stories and recommendations provided in plenty despite his long and busy day. he gave us a piece of chocolate cake when we left, which we enjoyed immensely. we had to move away from cincinnati, and will miss greek isles, which has become our gold standard for greek food and hospitality. thank you so much for what you provide.

greekislesis excellent-a new family favorite!. my husband and i dined at greekisleslast night (a friday night) and we could not be more happier with the food and service! the greek food was excellent, very flavorful, very fresh, and worth every penny. i'm so excited and impressed with greek isles, the owner and the personal and warm welcome and service we received from him and his talented team. there is a nice variety of menu items (without having too many overwhelming choices) and also at very nice price points. there are menu dinner prices in the $12 and up range and the very delicious gyros for under $7. something for everyone!
the spicy red pepper feta dip is excellent (not too spicy at all) as is the yummy, homemade tzatziki dip and sauce. i can't say enough good things about greek isles, and will highly recommend this awesome family restaurant to everyone!

dear susie.. in response to your review of my restaurant. the help wanted sign is there because 2 of my employees graduated from college and moved on to further there professional careers. employees i have had since july 14, 2007. there is no clue as you eluded to. furthermore, the restaurant business like no other is always unpredictable. there is no telling what a day of business will create. thus i am happy we were busy, especially in this economic crunch. as for the combo price, it is not $14. and never has been. i designed our menu, our price points and the way the restaurant operates. this includes not having servers to pay, thus keeping costs down, increasing the savings to our customers. if the food was to your liking, and the restaurant was clean, i thank you for the compliment. our service is always customer oriented. we pride ourselves on that. we are the only greek restaurant in the top 100 of all 1,397 restaurants in the greater cincinnati region. as a stand alone, non franchise concept in a conservative demographic, i am proud of what my wife and i created, 4 years running. beating the odds. so if you decide to dine with us again, please identify yourself to either my wife or myself. we appreciate you review.

response to mr smithson. mr. smithson,

my initial reaction to your review was puzzled, however, after reading your comments a couple of times i recognized that your review was generated by anger. initially i was not going to take the time to respond to your comments, however, i feel that i have an obligation to my customers and to my 11yr old son who after reading your comments said;" mom you are not a rude person and why is this man lying? "

i consider myself fortunate to live in a country that gives us so many freedoms and allows us the freedom to express our opinions and thoughts. a luxury that many of us take for granted and sometimes ignore. our country is made of up of a melting pot of people from different cultures. i am part of that melting pot and consider it an honor to be able to represent my culture, its cuisine and to have the ability to share it with everyone that walks in our restaurant.

i'll address your comments in the sequence of which you wrote.

upon your first visit, you wrote that my employee took a pizza, you assumed was your son's to the shop next door to be baked. when you inquired about your son's meal my employee did indicate to you that your son's pizza was in our oven and should be ready in a few minutes. you were also informed that the pizza taken next door was a carry out lunch for another customer; however you omitted that from your comments.

next you claim our food is mediocre and the ambiance is tacky. i stand behind the freshness and rich flavors of everything we prepare. as well as the authenticity to our greek cuisine. our menu is well thought out and offers a variety to choose from. my kitchen is open for a reason. there is nothing mediocre about the dishes we prepare. we serve hundreds of people weekly. with a vast majority dining with us on a regular basis. our food reflects our culture. when you call our restaurant tacky, understand that you are mocking my culture and what it represents. i designed the greekislesutilizing our national colors and its architecture.

on your second visit, if you recall, our restaurant was packed with customers. there was a line of people waiting patiently to order and be seated of which you and your family were a part of. we wait on and serve customers in the order of which they entered our restaurant. your family and no one else were ignored and never have been at the greek isles. we pride ourselves on customer satisfaction. once your order was taken, and you were seated, a mistake was in fact made by us. your ticket order was placed out of sequence in the manner of which food was being prepared. when that was realized, we attempted to apologize to you and rectify the situation; however, your judgment was clouded by your hostility and anger. you ripped your gift certificate in pieces and threw it at me in a hostile manner. i wonder what your reaction would have been had a male was at other side of the counter and waiting on you.

consequently, you were not mistreated, ignored, or treated poorly by any member of my restaurant. you have your right to express the sequence of events as you recollect and i have a right to comment as to my recollection of the events. fortunately, my recollections are supported by our restaurant video surveillance and also costumers that witnessed your behavior and apologized for your behavior. however, i do want to take this opportunity to apologize to you for not getting your food out on time.

at the end of the day sir, i know that i work very hard to provide for my family and also work hard to share a little part of my culture with my customers thru my cuisine. i recognize that your comments were anger motivated and your judgment clouded by anger as well.

may god bless you and your family

hello cabkag. my friend, thank you for your kind words and support. i am also glad you enjoy eating at eretis location, she is cousins with my wife. as far as the menu is concerned, i have added to it. we now serve rack of lamb with rice, as well as filet mingon. i am expanding a healthe low cal selection. still staying within the greek cuisine. but i also realize that i cant be everything to everyone. sauteed peppers in a tomato and garlic saice has been tried with success. but not so much stuffed cabbage. i am growing though. thank you again for the ideas. god bless

dear alexsmom. i have grown up in the restaurant industry. my parents owned greek restaurants in greece, new york and cleveland. both my borther-in laws are chefs owners of restaurants. my wifes family owns restaurants themselves. so i guess i have some experience in the restaurant field. now not only have i lived in greek neihborhoods like others have claimed, i am 100% greek. my mother, grandmother, aunts and so on only cooked greek food. what i am saying is i have experience in the field. so when i vote against another, it may be beacuse they deviate from greek cuisine so much that there food can not be called greek. besides i have known food critics to vote against successful restaurants only because the restroom mirrors were not dusted to their liking. if you choose to experience our restaurant, plese let me know it is you and i would discuss this further if you wish. god bless.

madiline. madaline,

in the event you wish to return to the greek isles, pls allow me to serve you personally. our menu is very greek, being greek myself, i should know. our portion sizes is beyond resonable compared to the price. and we do have great atmosphere. dont be a hater.

worse experience ever!. unfortunately, i've been to greekislestwice. the good news is that i'll never be tempted to go back. my introduction to the place was courtesy of one of the local radio station's gift certificate promotions.

first visit: went for lunch during a weekday afternoon. let's just say that i was less than impressed. we were particularly alarmed when the cashier/cook/waiter took my son's pizza out the front door to have baked next door. the food was mediocre and the ambience was tacky.

given that i had purchased 2 $25 certificates, we went back for dinner recently. i can summarize our experience as the worst restaurant experience in my entire life. first, we stood at the cash register for approximately 5 minutes waiting to order while the help ignored us. after placing our order, we waited over 1/2 hour while others who arrived after us were served their meals. given that we were in the middle of the 10-12 tables in the place and that i had 2 restless children with me, it shouldn't have been difficult for the staff to recognize that something was wrong.

well, when i finally raised the issue with the "management," her reply was "mistakes happen!" not, "i'm sorry" or "what can i do to make things better", but "mistakes happen". i found her to be quite rude.

let's just say i wouldn't have gone back a second time if not for the $25 coupon i possessed. save your time... go to mcdonalds instead. greek isle is terrible.
