grab a yabby is the pinnacle of social experiences. my friends and i were craving something new and happened to walk by this hidden restaurant in the back corner of an alleyway. greeted by the friendly staff we thought we might as well give this place a try. after being seat we were told that this concept restaurant is not quite like every other restaurant and oh boy we were in for a treat. specialising inseafoodwe ordered a bunch of their freshseafoodofferings, which did take a while to come out and when it did, it came with gloves which is something that i’ve yet to see. the succulent and juicy shellfish was something out of the freshly caughtseafoodmarket and their specialty sauces are 100% worth trying. eating freshseafoodwith gloves was a refreshing, fun and new experience, the whole time my friends and i were all talking, laughing and completely engaged in how fun it was to figure out how to eat each item of food without normal cutlery. that’s when it hit me that eating food can be fun and everything grab a yabby does perfectly encourages this. the slightly long wait for the food, the gloves instead of cutlery so phones can not be used, the little instructions given on how to eat the food, the extremely large sharing portions.. it is all to facilitate this wonderful, fresh and incredibly social experience. would definitely recommend!

we came here with a groupon for 2 which included a fishermans basket and two drinks for $45. the fishermans basket alone is normally $59 and contains clams, mussels, prawns, a morten bay bug, corn and potatoes in your choice of sauce and a serve of rice. we chose the grab-a-yabby special sauce which was a cajun style sauce. theseafoodcame out in a plastic bag and we were given bibs and plastic gloves. the sauce had a good kick to it and all theseafoodwas well cooked except for the bug which was a little over.

it made for a fun meal but it wasn't very filling. i could've definitely eaten one of those bags on my own. the service throughout the night was attentive and super friendly and the highlight of the night.

a lot of potential for thisseafoodrestaurant. great dishes and perfect for a family dining or gathering. we were very impressed with the servings and the delicious food.

grab a yabby is a hip and happeningseafoodbar on beaufort street, just at the back of block of shops near the iga. bright and airy, the menu consists of mainly seafood, but also some steak and ribs options. our waitress, rory was a delight – she made us feel welcome and explained the menu in detail to us.

i wish i took better and more photos! i’ve been dreaming of aseafoodboil up for years until i finally discovered this hidden little gem! i had the lobster, king crab legs and the prawn skewers. oh my gosh amazing. the meat was so tender, the sauces complimented everything perfectly. the staff were very friendly and accommodating as i’ve never eaten at a restaurant with bibs and gloves! i’ll definitely be coming back again and again! thank you for an amazing experience and amazing food!!!! also the long island ice tea was to die for :d

my husband took me to grab a yabby for dinner. i am from japan so i love my seafood. so i was not expecting much at first. but when i had the yabby in xo sauce, i was surprised that it tasted so good. the meat was so sweet! i also try the fried ice cream with lemon syrup, so delicious. i really recommend to anyseafoodlovers out there. it’s not the cheapest, but worth every dollar!

went there first time with my wife for a last minute date and we both loved it. different experience eating with a hammer and a pair of glove. theseafoodwas fresh and beautifully cooked but the rib is the star of the meal. most delicious rib ive had in perth for a reallly long time.

the beef ribs are my favourite they are so tender they fall off the bone, unfortunately i’m not aseafoodeater but there are so many other options steak, chicken it definitely is a place full of flavour with something to suit everyone’s taste! definitely 5 star!!

we popped in here for dinner on thursday night and were pleasantly surprised. limited selection but basically pick yourseafood- “market priced” - then choose from 4 sauces. i chose garlic butter which was a plenty. the service is fantastic but not hard given we were the only patrons. pretty sure we won’t go out of our way to visit again, but that’s a value for foment issue more than anything.

great freshseafoodcombined with a very "hands on" dining experience makes this a must try place, gloves and bibs provided at the door give some insight into what is to come. super friendly staff and amazing food, definitely worth a visit.

just want to say this place is one of the bestseafoodplaces i have been to in perth. great service, non pushy but knowledgeable. 10/10 would go back again :) the only thing i could suggest is maybe adding some budget friendly options.

great concept. you pick yourseafoodthen your sauce and then they cook and you eat. being in perth we are blessed with great seafood. but unfortunately the prices ofseafoodin perth is pricey at retail value. so this place has to be amazeballs for it to have a chance and theseafoodtaste was i would say above average not overly amazing. the dino ribs was more tasty and we enjoyed it. was a good experience but fell short of amazing..

we were hoping the actual dining experience would be an improvement on the booking service as both myself and my husband left two messages on the contact mobile number, and sent an email with a couple of questions and no one bothered to get back to us. someone finally answered the mobile on the third attempt and third day of trying. i don't understand how a business cannot return contact requests within 48 hours so wasn't too impressed but thankfully the actual  dining experience was a bit nicer. once our questions were answered i booked online for 6 people for sunday lunch. it was a lovely sunny winters day and the restaurant was quite stuffy and warm. we asked about some ac and was told it wasn't working. after about 10 minutes we asked if some of the sliding doors could be opened and the waiter went and checked with his manager and opened the doors which caused a lovely cool breeze to waft through. great now to order! we ordered crunchy ribs, calamari and oysters. we asked where they oysters were from but apparently no one knew. but my friends said they were tasty as i don't eat the slippery suckers. the calamari was good too but we never saw the ribs as the waiter told us there was only one batch left and they burnt it. so we ordered the crunchy wings instead and they were great! so few hiccups along the way but the one waiter on the floor handled it all so well, and always with a smile. he does that place proud. we then ordered bugs, prawns, yabbies and crawfish to share and were given mallets, bibs and plastic gloves etc. it was a different experience to use the table as your plate and smash your food to eat and peel but a lot of fun. the corn and potato that were included in theseafoodbags was tasty too. personally it's not a dining experience i want to do on a regular basis but it was definitely nice to give it a go. .

verdict: slow service, ribs were good,seafoodplatter a no-no. will i revisit? no, thanks.  ordered the pork ribs +seafoodplatter (groupon). the rating of 2.5 goes to pork ribs. i am rating '0" for service andseafoodplatter. there were only 3 occupied tables at that time and we had to wait 15mins before we get a menu and another 1.5hr for the food. that is freaking long!! prawns were not fresh at all, we even had 1 that went bad in the bag. the spicy sauce went well with the other seafood. fortunately, the pork ribs were good or this needs to be rated negative.
