gorgeous modern japanese aesthetic. we popped in randomly on a chilly winters night in search of ramen. almost got distracted by the amazing menu, and did add 2 small bites, howgoodare edamame when they’ve been charred a bit? yum. asahi in tap is a big winner too. loved the ramen. keen to return to try more.

myself and partner headed here on a saturday night and got there about 6:45 - they said and hour wait so we headed to kegs n brews and waited, headed back after an hour and no call so just asked and she had us sat in five minutes. we had the gyoza and karrage to start and that was delicious, not drop dead amazing - but delicious. matt had the chili ramen and he was crying through out the meal, but he assured megoodtears and the ramen was not for the faint of heart. my kogashi ramen was other worldly and was unlike anything i’ve had - liquified burnt fat - i was skeptical but my goodness it was great! i would go again for the ramen, but make a booking! i’ll be back!

been meaning to try this place for so long and finally scored a booking, this is more of a high end ramen joint so i do recommend booking or else you’d have to wait quite abit for walk ins as they are quite busy on the weekend.
love the ambience and service was exceptional!! i got the charred miso ramen and my partner ordered the chilli shoyu, and we started with salmon sashimi and wagyu tataki was to die for, definitely recommend ordering the wagyu.

the charred miso on the other hand is not for the faint hearted, flavours are super bold and you can definitely taste the “charred” flavour, unfortunately not my cup of tea i probably prefer the original tonkotsu ramen more.
my partner did enjoy his chilli shoyu ramen, and let me tell you it definitely chilli!

overall experience was lovely, service wasgoodand the restaurant did have a lovely ambience, there is also a small wine & cocktail list, definitely suitable for a social night out with friends or family as well!

and indeed, this was nothing like i’d ever had before. despite the intimidating appearance, the flavour profile of the soup was surprisingly smooth and mellow. the combination of miso and charred pork fat combined to form a deep, earthy sweetness, rather than the bitterness you might imagine. the soup was also incredibly viscous, which meant that it was notgoodfor drinking, but did ensure that there was soup clinging to every bite of the taut, straight noodles. as for the toppings, the charshu was tender and the egg gooey, but it’s hard for anything to make much of an impression when they have the charred miso broth to compete with.

the best ramen in sydney hands down. when it’s winter, i live for the veggie soba.
the spring rolls and sushi are always agoodtime too. i tend to go with my best friend, slurping is not cute.

after hearing so manygoodratings about the kogashi miso ramen and being recommended it my friends, i finally got around to trying it. unfortunately i was quite disappointed to find that i did not like the charred flavouring at all. the side dishes however were nice (gyoza and chicken).

i really enjoyed gogyo, the service was prompt and the food came quickly. the wagyu spring roll and the crackling piggy roll were amazing 4.5/5! would highly recommend. the rock potatoes were crispy and the mayo on top was agoodmix. the nasu dengaku was super crispy on the outside but succulent on the inside. the wagyu was so tender and the mushrooms were flavored so well. the only thing i didn’t like was the ramen we ordered. it was ok but nothing like the other dishes. we tried the kagashi miso as recommended by the waiter but it was mainly just noodles with 2 pieces of pork. overall a great place and i will be back!

it was a busy little place when we visited after work on a monday night. the ambience is casual with a nice bar layout. the staff were polite and prompt. they took our number and told us it was a 30 mins wait.

we ordered the burnt miso ramen with gyoza and chicken karage. the ramen came out firm and chewy just like how we liked it. the thinly sliced pork was delicious and really well seasoned! the miso broth was interesting with a slight burnt aftertaste. it was salty and slightly oily. we enjoyed this as it was quite unlike any other miso ramen we’ve tasted. the gyoza was tasty but nothing special. the only disappointment was the chicken karage which was over fried with burnt bits.

overall it was agoodmeal and certainly worth the 30 mins wait!

we wanted to try this place because we had suchgoodmemories of gogyo in kyoto with the 'burnt' ramen. this place in surry hills has a modern, stylish look with light wood and dim lights, and service was very efficient.  we ordered the kogashi miso and kogashi shoyu, not knowing whether the 'charred' description was the same as the 'burnt' ones we had in kyoto. there were no sign of flames from torching the soup from the kitchen. the flavours were quite strong, especially the kogashi miso, but did not seem to be the same as kyoto version from memory. the standard portions are about the same as ippudo. it was still tasty, and i'd go back for a strong-brothed ramen fix, but with extras next time!

word can’t describe howgoodthe dishes are!
the ladyboss cocktail! not to sweet not to bitter (lemon mix) but nice and light go well with ramen.
1. crackling piggy roll. the meat is so juicy and tender so gooooood!goodfor starter!
2. grilled scampi. small portion~ the sauce is the highlight of the dish.
3. kogashi miso. yes to this ramen! recommended~ so flavourful, tasty, creamy just sooooooooo good🤤 a perfection in a bowl.
4. edamame : unusual edamame which they kind of grilled it? but sooooooooooo good! like legit good.
5. fried rock potato: just potato hehehe nothing more but still good.
6. shio soba: so light~ the soup is not heavy at all. really nice for hot weather! :)
