this is for a series of posts for a 2014 chicago trip including alinea ,giordano's, bottlefork , bub city, portillo's hot dogs, doubletree hilton: magnificent mile, and garrett popcorn shops .  regular readers know that despite being a new yorker, i've got a soft spot for chicago deep dish. and despite the competitors, giordano'sreigns supreme to me, though it's likely due to having a location in evanston, where i went to school. so when i recently returned to chicago, i knew i had to make a pit stop.  i was showing off the sights of chicago to the gf and her folks so during the requisite walk down the magnificent mile, we decided to grab dinner at the rush street location. be warned, this location is packed. there are no reservations here so plan ahead. by that, i mean plan to do some shopping after you drop off your name and number with the hostess. or grab a drink at a nearby bar. why not a drink at giordano's? its bar will likely be packed as well.  in fact, we were told 'only' 45 minutes, but the wait was actually twice as long. that left a bad taste in my mouth, but i knew the taste of chicago deep dish would likely satiate both my appetite and annoyance. ripe tomato bruschetta with mozzarella [$7.50] diced tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil, garlic toast, balsamic glaze, fresh mozzarella   and with a yelp check-in, we received a free appetizer. so we opted for the bruschetta to whet our appetites. it was a bit cumbersome to eat because the toppings simply slid off the

it's my first visit to the windy city and we took a rather early plane, was there just in time for lunch after dropping off our luggage at the hotel. the first thing we had to try was the infamous chicago deep dish pizza. we decided to head togiordano'srestaurant & pizzeria ( @giordanospizza ) which is a chain and have 14 location in chicago alone.  love the bar area...giordano'shouse salad - starter $3.95 ~ spring lettuce mix, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, arugula, escarole, radicchio lettuces and fresh fennel tossed in a light lemon vinaigrette and topped w/ shaved parmesan cheese   since we knew that the deep dish pizza will be super heavy and filling, we decided to at least have something healthy... this was nothing fancy but love the mostly lemonvinaigrette which was super light and refreshing.   chicken wings "vesuvio" $8.95 ~ jumbo chicken wings baked with garlic, oregano, lemon, chile flakes, white wine and olive oil  we both actually liked this, it wasn't the super crispy fri

is there something more that needs to be said about the highly ravedgiordano'sdeep dish pizza?

adding to the great reviews of giordano's, i tried their garlic bread this time as there was a wait for my deep dish pizza for about 30mins. the garlic bread was no less than the pizza, it was just melting in the mouth with every bite.

with enough things said about the deep dish pizza, it is just outstanding, every bite of deep dish pizza is an experience. i would definitely recommendgiordano'sto anyone visiting chicago.

back when i was in high school, about 12 or 13 years ago, my family took a weekend trip from minnesota to chicago, illinois. while there, we explored various parts of the city, including shops, museums, and many different eateries. among the many places we chose to dine, one of my favorites was giordano's.giordano'sis an italian pizza restaurant, with various locations throughout chicago. when we arrived, we were immediately greeted by warm and friendly faces, and treated as if we were family. we came as part of a large group, and were very well accommodated. the atmosphere was enjoyable, and not overly crowded. after ordering, we received our food fairly quickly and with no disappointments. the deep dish we ordered was absolutely delicious! so much so, that i made point to visitgiordano'sonce again, as i traveled through chicago by bus, just a few years later.

giordano's was my first chicago deep-dish pizza experience, and, oh how much i enjoyed it! the pizza has lots and lots of cheese (yummm!) and is super delicious. it's very filling though - we finished one pizza between two people and i didn't have room in my stomach for anything else for the rest of the day. if you're in chicago, do visitgiordano's:)

chicago is the home of deep dish pizza andgiordano'sbakes the best. i tried this place twice. the first time was a takeaway experience on the first eve i arrived chicago and i made sure that the second time has to be a dine in experience for our last meal in chicago. i fell in love with their deep dish pizza. wow !!! loaded with cheese stuffed in and topped with a tasty tomato sauce with all the fresh toppings you order. i have never tasted something like that before. the waiters are friendly and helpful. the pizza takes 45 minutes to be baked and ready to be served. the portions are really huge. on my first experience i ordered a medium one with meatballs in it and boy it was huge !!! it can easily feed four people. on our second visit we had the small vegetarian one and it was more than enough for me, my wife and our little daughter. the prices are very reasonable. this place is so recommended for pizza lovers.

best pizza in chicago and best stuffed/deep dish pizza i've ever eaten.  i discoveredgiordano'sby chance in florida of all places, but it was love at first bite.  whenever i hit chicago i eat atgiordano'sseveral times - often to the detriment of my waistline.  the stuffed deep dish is loaded with toppings and is so dense and delicious.  i also love the thin crust pizza - all the wonderful toppings on a thin, delicious crust that i can eat more of.  my favorite pie is a combination of pepperoni, bacon and ground beef.  i'm salivating just thinking about this.  they also ship their pizzas all over the us, but not to australia...

i was toldgiordano'swas a "must try" when i was in chicago. i forwent the deep dish pizza and ordered an italian roast beef sandwich. apparently topping roast beef sandwiches with spicy giardiniera is a chicago "thing" and, i have to admit, it is genius. what a good combo. really enjoyed my sandwich.

the pizzas are so deep that i found my self lost in the cheese!!! well it's not a joke but a fact that they have the best in the world deep dish pizzas! it was my first time atgiordano'swhile my trip to chicago and man what a feast it was! the place is usually crowded so better to plan for a weekday or early over a weekend! luckily we got a good spot to sit and enjoy the pizza! earlier in the day i did hear a lot about this place from one of the shop assistant in a mall and i did not think then that the pizza would actually turn out to be so amazing! service was little slow like it took 25-30 minutes for them to have it served. price is also decent for the quality and experience although i think they can have some promotions but why would they as they are already doing so great in there. i would love to seegiordano'sgoing global and may be come to dubai soon some day!@

not worth the wait, cold pizza. i love pizza, chicago has some great pies and maybegiordano'scan deliver - tonight they did not. i'm ok with a wait if the product on the other end is worth it. this wasn't. from door to pie it was a 1.5 hour wait. when the pie arrived it was stone cold and not cooked. the server took it back and heated it, it was luke warm when presented again at the table shortly after being whisked away. the pie still wasn"t cooked, it was doughy and cold in the centre. the server told us that's the way it is supposed to be because of the sauce. bs. awful delivery, awful pie, full stop. don't waste your time.
