i love this place and it's sushi. great every time i go and never had a complaint. the only reason i don't go there all the time is because it's a teeny bit pricey. the food is so worth it though. they have a great teriyaki prime rib that they cut upsushistyle. even the appetizer salads are good. the miso soup is good. the chef roll and dynamite salmon roll are my favorite rolls. lovely music and atmosphere and fast friendly service. they do take out too.

heaven in a strip mall. it's in a strip mall and the interior is depressingly bare. but you know what? we've been there a million times. certainly the bestsushiin albany. maybe the best in corvallis if you take price into consideration. better than most in portland, price being considered. even their non-sushi entrees are great.

great food--bestsushifor miles. we have eaten lunches and dinner there for years.
the food has always been the same, delicious and hot.
they will amend the dish a bit if you ask.
lunches are a slightly better value but the prices are moderate for dinnner too.

noticed the comment about slow service. that has never been our case; perhaps it depends on how busy they are at the time you order.

so you wanna have some great sushi?. well ginza is the place for you! my father and i visit ginza at least one a month for theirsushicombo plate. thesushiis fresh, thick cut pieces of fish on some of the best sticky rice i have ever tasted. the decor is absolutely charming and the owners are wonderful. my dad and i always joke that if we won the lottery we would pay thesushichef to be our personalsushichef and body guard. great place to eat but be warned, it is a little costly at night so i recommend going during lunch to save yourself some coin.

splendid lunching. had a business meeting in albany today, so grabbed the chance to have lunch at ginza.

at 1:30pm, every table, booth and stool were filled and a line stood at the counter. as a nod to the speed with which everything happens in there, within three minutes five folks waiting for their take-out had cleared off and i grabbed a spot at the 4-seatsushibar.

not usually a fan of rolls, but had to try the sun roll and the albany roll after watching "andy," the koreansushichef/owner, cut fish. something magical about his soft, deceptively simple movements and the gleaming resultant cuts that said, "this guy's really good."

ordered the hamachi and albacore nigirizushi, too. splendid! big cuts -- the rice was so good, and the fish succulent with their distinct flavors atop a nice strong smear of wasabi.

the rolls changed my view of 'rolls.' beautiful and delicious. amid the lunch hour rush, each item was created without haste, waste, or sloppiness. the sun roll was especially surprising: fresh little creamy scallops wrapped in nori, surrounded by rice dolloped with a light, spicy cocktail sauce, then more nori, and the entire thing coated with tempura batter and briefly deep-fried. it's a danged delight. i'm coming back for dinner!

if you're not familiar with albany, save yourself lots of squinting and looping around on the speedy cross-thoroughfares and just look for the huge-o bi-mart at santiam hwy & clay... scoot right in there and keep to your right. you'll see this little jewel with the arched windows and cheery sign at the far end of the parking lot.

oh, and they have drive-through service! so even if you have no time to come in and sit (or stand), you're set!

sushi is amazing. i've had a lot of good sushi, bad sushi, and in-between sushi. ginza'ssushiis amazing. expertly prepped and well-presented, it's worth every penny (and the wait). the chicken teriyaki comes steaming hot and with just the right amount of veggies.

favie. i love this place. they make thesushifresh and use good ingredients, unlike a newersushichain in town which uses crab mix and other poor ingredients. this family works very hard and they provide good food at reasonable prices.

i highly recommend it.

love this place. i'd go here everyday if i didn't work so much. great, fresh and consistent food every time. they brought me asushibirthday cake that was one of the coolest piece ofsushii've ever seen. quit complaining about the service time and enjoy life. stupid america always has to be in and out as quick as possible.

had to check it out.. i had heard good things about ginza. they were mostly true. it has nice crisp decor. the counter person and thesushichef were appropriately dizened in haori kimono jackets (i think). i ordered the spicy chicken plate with yakisoba noodles rather than rice. (50 cents extra) when my meal came it looked and smelled great. there was a slight spiciness to the noodles, but none discernable in the chicken! fortunately they had sweet chili sauce on the condiment table, so i fixed that. one must wonder though, why they call it a "spicy chicken" plate. all in all, it was a very good meal.

two other asides: they do not accept american express and there is no coat hook in the men's room. the latter, a small thing perhaps, but one appreciated by anyone who wears a jacket or suit coat.

good food, slow service. ginza is not a restaurant to choose if you are in a hurry. the staff are very nice and friendly, but the service is slow. it's one of those things you just have to plan for.

thesushichef, who i believe is the owner, does a great job. everything is nicely presented, and the ingredients are all high-quality. it's a little annoying that substitutions are not allowed (for example, the roll combo is a great deal, but you can't substitute regular tuna rolls for spicy tuna rolls -- so you're stuck with the spicy ones if you order the combo). but that's a minor complaint, really.

the other japanese dishes that i have tried (gyozu pot stickers, edamame, tonkatsu) are also good.

prices are moderate; dinner for two (without alcoholic beverages) will cost $30 to $40.

albany now has twosushirestaurants; i definitely prefer ginza. thesushiat momiji tasted ok, but not as good as ginza's.
