have always enjoyed my meals here. nice food cooked after you select what you want. go back as often as you like to get more. so different thing's can be tried.
desserts are pancakes you can use whatever sauce you want on them which is great. there's also fruit to have in or on pancakes now as well.
really enjoyable and fun place to visit. had meal on 16 may really nice, good selection of food and seafood, pancakes were beautiful and light. it seems the new circular hot plate makes things quicker to have meal cooked too.

we thought we'd try it...wow!
the best meal we've had after 11 years in nz.
a fantastic meal, it couldn't have been fresher and more delicious, cooked to your own taste, you create your own cooking sauce (helpful tips on the back board), and it's cooked immediately right in front of you.
freshly cooked pancakes to finish, with selection of ice creams and sauces.
staff were friendly and efficient, without being intrusive.
great price, very highly recommended.

good if you're really hungry- the best way to get value for money. it's also good for young groups as it has an entertainment factor build into it.

taste wise, everything ends up having the same taste regardless of what ingredients or oils you use.

in terms of a buffet it is kind of interesting, but if you are looking for a great-tasting meal, your money is better spent elsewhere.

fantastic night out - the food was amazing - so nice to see your fresh food cooked right in front of you.

great value - especially seen as you can keep going back to get more.

loved the pancakes for dessert - we will definitely be going back here again!! totally recommend!!!

i completely agree with the previous reviews, delicious food at a reasonable price and a large selection to choose from.the staff were smiley and helpful and the place has an excellent ambiance. could go there every night of the week!

very disappointed, we had been wanting to try these guys for months. we were seated in the front of the restaurant even though there were heaps of tables down the back where it was warm. i had to wear my jacket the whole night and was still cold, my daughter whose 16th birthday it was, was freezing. we come from a hospo background and know you are only as good as your last good day. it seems these guys think they can do no wrong and happy customers don't matter, this attitude is normally the start of the slippery slope into mediocrity. we won't be going back that's for sure. it was our daughter's 16th birthday and the service really put a damper on her big night.

i love gengy's! especially the pancakes for dessert. watching them make your food is always fun. i just don't quite like knowing that the food is all cooked on the same plate but i guess that's the fun of it! the chefs are so talented and lovely!

what an experience, a whole new way to eat your food with so many options for such a good price! we went on a friday night, started off pretty quiet but quickly got busier after we had got our main meals! i would try to avoid this place if there are lots of children present as i was banged into at least 10 times whilst grabbing my food.

really enjoy coming to this place, great food and customer service every time. the thing that will keep bringing me back is the experience, if you’ve been to gengys, you’ll know!

was quite disappointed with my experience. i had dinner here with my partner and was seated very far from the food (next to the main door), although there were a lot of seats left. i told the waitress if we could be seated closer, but she rudely told me that they were all booked (clearly they weren't as the tables had no reservation signs). food was not too great. ive been to better ones in epsom (auckland) and rotorua.

not worth the constantly rising prices. i mean, it is a make your own so from now on i'll make my own at home. not worth it at all. won't be going back.

literally this place is the first thing we do every time we are in hamilton. the staff are friendly, food is good, a lot of fun. nice cocktail menu to boot.

absolutely delicious every time i go here. the mongolian food is so heart warming to the body and you get your money’s worth. i would suggest that these guys can maybe edit the decor and atmosphere with some music too.

ok experience.lines were a bit long.the staff did not look happy or excited to cook your food.the novelty of making your own dishes wears off after the 2nd dish and i wish they would change up the condiments,it gets a bit boring.

been coming for years and years. always enjoy the combinations of food you can create . good value for amount that gets eaten . if you haven’t been to gengys your probably not alive
