just as anji mentioned before, not many choices there, even the sauces are much more than the dishes oh my....but still recommend it because i think the dishes are basically enough, they have even got pancake and ice cream which makes you feel satisfied as deserts are so nice. most importantly, really enjoy the experience in which you can pick up the materials u like, and then just wait for the creative dish which can be totally different from the last one u have made. and, enjoy watching nice guys cooking around the stone stove, which was warm and enjoyable

nice inviting atmosphere but the cues were to long and the food bars were crammed like u were in a line for a justin bieber ticket or something. how ever the food was really yum the host and waitress good job,   disapointing part was the young european man cooking the food sneezing and sparying all over the food and wiping his runny nose on his clothing........ hamilton gengys this is..... really upset and wanted money back but was too pissed of so just up and left....we dined here on the 15/11/17... not sure if we shall return. this was our first time taking the kids out on a dining expereince and we feel we paid for a disapointment due to not the gengys it self but this youngs man lack of respect and hygeine....not to mention  the guys dinner he dropped on the floor yes maybe a accidentbut no apology was given

not much of a selection gengy's manukau has loads more to choose from, place felt a little grimy and dark. veges were cut very large and meat tasted old and was burnt after cooking.. staff were nice otherwise would have rated 1.. nearly forgot sauces had a weird ring in jars like sauces were very old and sitting for a while.. :- /

a.m.a.z.i.n.g is all i can say. talk about value for money! not to mention the variety is absolutely brilliant. the staff are very pleasant, you're most definitely well looked after. it is an experience and a half, i highly recommend going with a big group of people. i had a wonderful evening and went home with a more than full belly! a++

good taste and warm service. you can make your own dishes with many choices. it s the best food i had during my two days trip in new plymouth.

does anyone knows if they do birthday special at this restaurant ? , since i'm brinqinq my dad here for his birthday and what are the prices ? , there be 2adult &'d 2children .

was rather dissapointed with the service tonight! we went early to avoid the crowds. firstly i asked the waiter if they have a house wine. she didnt know and just stood there and askedme what i would like to drink. how do you do that without a wine list? secondly asked lamb to be coocked medium rare..... it was well done and very tough. we also had to go to the counter to order drinks, why do they ask once and then just leave you. dont think ill go back. the service 3 months ago was great, today was very dissapointing.

this being my first time at gengy's, i thoroughly enjoyed my experience!
i wasn't expecting that much considering the reviews that seemed bad but i don't think it's as bad as people make it sound to be.
we were a big group and it was just a spot on place to be!
i enjoyed the diy nachos and the fries were perfectly crisp!
however their potato, mushroom and bacon soup tasted as if msg and flavoring powder were the only ingredients! definitely not a nice soup..
i enjoyed their huge selection of meat, veges, sauces and spices. it was beyond expectations!
i don't think it deserves the rating it has, definitely better!
as a drink i ordered the spider which is a mix of rasberry, cola and ice cream, was an interesting experience but overall, i loved my visit!

when we arrived at gengys, the restaurant was thriving. two waitresses who greeted myself and my partner were lovely. because we'd never dined there before one of them gave us the low down of how you make a meal. the service was great however not once did they come to our table to offer us any drinks, not even water. other than that, great food!

decent array of meat and seafood, paired with a wide range of sauces and seasoning, and cooked right in front of you on a sizzling hot plate. the marinated beef and lamb especially was delicious, and you can ask the chefs to cook them rare if you prefer. the side dish of kumara and orange was surprisingly good as well, and the pancakes with ice cream for dessert was a nice indulgence.

my main gripe for the night was that we were asked to pay before we ate - we did not mind this at first, but that was before we noticed that almost everyone else was paying on the way out. if you are concerned about people leaving without paying, then you should apply consistent operating procedures across the board, not single out a few customers. left a bad taste in the mouth, which was a pity.

to start with,i was surprised when i was told that i had to choose the ingredients and how much of each i wanted,and the chef would just cook it for me . well if i wanted to do that, i could have stayed home. since i am not frequent in the kitchen, i wasn't sure how much spice was enough and combination of which would give a good taste. ended up having a bland plate do of noodles. i couldn't see any special sauces or spices other than the usual chillis and soys.. not very authentic mongolian i should say...disappointed...but in the expensive too...

been to several in the group in auckland for large work dos and have to say i wasn't expecting much (they are very tired locations up there).  np was utterly different.
the location is new and it looked great. hope they keep it that way.  great for large groups and the only one you can complain to if you don't like the taste is yourself lol.
lovely fresh veges and raw meat to mix and match with oils and sauces to then have it cooked in front of you in moments.  great experience for kids to watch as well as adults.
basic tables/chairs, basic decor, but nicely done and comfortable.  like that they have suggestions of combinations of food for certain tastes on the wall too.
great service by friendly people and handled the split bill extremely easily.
one thing though - the top of the servery needs a daily wipedown - even if that means you need to re-write the names of the ingredients on it daily also, it was a little greasy which detracted from the fab fresh food.

gengys is very reasonably priced for the delicious food on offer. staff were exceptionally friendly. a great idea to have pancakes, syrups and ice-creams for dessert! will be back - soon!

well.. friendly service, nice wall arts... but unfortunately the food was not good. it's quite risky way of serving buffet because customer actually a chef there. so cook at home yourself is better. exept those painting on the wall you dont really get what is mongolian food. not much choices. and not really fresh. quite disappointed. however it's improve-able. good luck.

the food was fresh and the freshly cooked pancakes and ice cream were a real treat.best buffet place ive been so far, friendly staff, good environment, great experience, mean dinner.
