burger deserves a 4.5 but the chicken wings only deserve a 2 so i'm giving an overall 3.5

the burger was so juicy and piping hot and really is the main selling point for gh. i'm gonna be controversial and say i enjoyed it almost as much as bunsen. possibly even more! i'd love to do a taste test of their two burgers side by side!

now to the disappointing part- the chicken wings. the flavour was there but they were fatty as hell. there's no excuse for fatty chicken wings in my opinion. didn't even finish all of these which was a shame.

another criticism is that they have a burger meal deal for around €10. i asked the girl could i get sweetpotatofries instead and pay the extra. she said they couldn't do that and id have to just purchase them for the full side order price. so we ended up with two normal fries each and a sweetpotatofries to share. the normal fries were both cold but the sweetpotatofries were fresh and so so tasty. it's really a pet hate of mine when places like these won't accommodate customers and allow them to pay the extra euro or whatever it is to get sweetpotatofries instead of normal fries. sweetpotatofries are the new way to go and everyone loves them so it's not like it's an unrealistic request!

i had the pleasure of eating here the other night with the zomato gang. anywhere with burgers already get a thumbs up from me! the staff were really attentive and looked after us brilliantly! i went for the smokey joe burger with a perfect storm cocktail. both were delicious and the burger was a nice size too. also tried some of their sweetpotatofries which were equally delicious. if i remember correctly my burger was at the €12 mark so fairly reasonable!
the venue itself is pretty cool, had never been and was shocked at how big it was. bit outside of town but with the luas there you really can't complain. big thanks to mark for also giving us a tour of the place!
definitely a place i'll return to!

thank you zomato for inviting me to your meet up in the generator hostel. the staff were so friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. we were well looked after. i started off with a cocktail and i got the gingin mule. it was lovely and refreshing. then the chef came around a recommend a few things from the menu. i decided to go with one of the favourites the beefeater with a side of sweetpotatofries. the burger was delicious and i loved the sauce that was on it. the menu is so reasonably priced with €10 for a burger and chips. i would deffo recommend the generator and i'm looking forward to trying out a few more burgers on the menu!

i had an amazing experience in here! the burgers are divine and the cocktails are out of this world. the lucha libre has avocado, bacon and chipotle sauce and is mouth wateringly delicious! the bun is super soft and thepotatofries are scrumptious! will defo be back again to try the rest of the menu and the yummy cocktails 🍸

i was lucky enough to attend a zomato meet-up in the generator hostel last night, and was blown away.
from the service, to the food, to the atmosphere i loved every minute. to begin, the chef came out and explained a little bit of the menu. they have been perfecting their burger for 6 months, and it definitely shows.
i shared the bbq one, and the basic cheese burger; both equally delish i couldnt choose which one i preferred. served with a side of sweetpotatofries just topped everything off. for 10 euro you cannot go wrong!
to drink i had a gin and tonic, with a deal of 2 for 10 euro its a perfect student friendly spot.
definite recommendation for anyone around the smithfield area, with 2 stops away from town on the luas its easy accessible too.
i already cant wait to try the rest of the menu.

after hearing so much about these burgers i finally had the pleasure of having dinner in the generator at the zomato meetup. from the minute i walked in the entrance i was impressed- i've stayed in the generator hostels in europe before and i must say that the dublin hostel is just amazing. everything from the decor to the friendly and welcoming staff was fantastic!
we were seated in a reserved area and the chef came out to talk us through the menu and the special dishes available. i went for the beefeater which was the recommended burger, and my friend chose the bbq burger as we had decided to share both. both burgers were absolutely incredible- probably one of the best burgers i've had in dublin, and the sweetpotatofries i ordered on the side were perfect. for drinks i had a mojito followed by a gin & tonic, both were absolutely fab- i couldn't fault a single thing. to make things even better they have various drink deals- eg. 2 g&ts for €10!
this is the perfect place for a date night before the lighthouse theatre, or even somewhere different to catch up with friends. i'm already planning my next trip back. thank you again to zomato & the amazing staff at the generator for making us feel so welcome, and for such a fantastic meal!

last night i went for dinner and drinks in the generator hostel . as soon as i walked in i loved the buzz and atmosphere of the hostel . the bar and drinks area is so chilled and usually quite busy . i especially loved the whisky lights in the lobby !
i had high expectations before i went as i had heard amazing reviews on the famous 'generator burgers ' which defiantly did not disappoint .
i had the beefeater burger which was rated in the top three in dublin ! it was amazing ! the sauce was one of the nicest i have had and the sweetpotatofries went down a treat .
the cocktails are also worth getting . i had the whisky sour and it was lovely . 🍔&🍹-the perfect combo !
we also got a chance to see the rooms which are all so clean spacious and trendy .
i would defiantly recommend staying here for a night or even just coming for the cocktails and burgers !
the staff also couldn't have been more friendly and helpful !

refreshing to see a tourist spot carving a niche for itself as a destination for locals to get fed. and fed well. delighted to have tested the new burger menu courtesy of the zomato meet up. went for a panko breaded chicken burger- delish though would have liked more sauce. sweetpotatofries were also on point. great place to stay and/or have a bite and drink - some great drinks offers too and a much better vibe than in some places you get in town.

so i've heard great things about the burgers here and i was excited to try them and see how they stacked up against dublin staples like bunsen and counter.

unfortunately however, i was disappointed. having ordered my drinks at the bar from a slow but sound barman i then had to walk up to reception to order my food because you can't order food at the bar, which was fairly odd. the receptionist there was very rude and refused to accept my voucher. having made a phone call she eventually gave in. the food came and didn't really make up for the service. the burger was fine but nowhere near what i expected. good brioche bun and ok toppings but mediocre meat. 

the one good thing? the sweetpotatofries, they were pretty great.
