such an awesome place. we had a big table and jeebed it up. best decision ever. we were all stuffed, amazing value! and every single dish was just done so well. so much flavour and care in making these dishes. and i don’t even like lebanese food ordinarily. just so good and i want to go back already. i forgot to take photos. that’s how good it was.

a different style of food hard to find at any other place, st kevin’s arcade is a buzzy place at night. gemmayze street has great non-alcoholic sodas and cocktails. great place for groups and sharing to give you a chance to try a little bit of everything.

we had a largeish table of 8 so we opted on getting the $65 jeeb set meal. it was a three course sharing meal. they also asked if there was anything on the menu we would like to have so that they could include it.

the entrees consisted of flat bread, hummus, tabbouleh, khyar (cucumber), mihshee flayfle (stuffed capsicum) and anrabeet (cauliflower). all the dishes were really tasty but the cauliflower one beat out the rest in flavour, although the capsicum and cucumber ones were quite close. we hungrily guzzled them with the bread and it was just great.

some were already getting full when the mains came out. we had the falafel, hapuka as the market fish, and lamb shoulder with the batata harra (potatoes) on the side. the lamb alone would have been worth the trip, crispy and sweet skin with tender and juicy meat served with mougrabeye (kinda like large israeli cous cous). i also thought that the fish was cooked really well.

for dessert, we had the knefe and the halooum. the knefe was crispy and sweet with a raspberry sorbet on top. the halooum was almost like an ice cream sandwich using cheesecake base. it had a lemon sorbet which was a bit to sharp for me. we did find it weird that we were served three knefe and two halooum but we were too stuffed to ask about it.

our servers were great, friendly and helpful and kept an eye on drinks and water for the table. they also packed the leftovers for us to take home.

a really great place for amazing (amount and quality) food and service. i should also note that the main dining area overlooks myers park and does have a good view of the sky tower.

beautiful lebanese food with a tiny western twist.
hummus is one of the best you'll ever taste.
love the fantastic selection of lebanese wines and beers.
the desserts are... out of this world in the most amazing way.
keep up the wonderful work!

we’ve been here 7 times now. the first couple of times, we couldn’t fault them. the food was amazing and the drinks and service were the same.

each time we go back, everything slips a little further from our first experience.

tonight, we were highly disappointed!

fish - very salty, not worth a $35 dish.

the chicken shish, again very salty.

the scampi and dumplings....wtf! two tiny pieces of scampi and noodles....no dumplings. i asked the waitress where are the dumplings and she said....as she pointed to the noodles......there they are, just done a different way. who are you trying to fool?

i always order an old fashion. it usually comes with a big square ice cube, strong in flavour, slightly sweetened with a peel of orange and a cinnamon stick..... tonight i got sweet watered down alcohol with a cinnamon stick.

gemmayze street......you are no long g-mazinging...... you are below average.

will not return again.

we had been meaning to try gemmayze st for a while and thankfuly was not disappointed. we decided to choose from the ala carte menu rather than try the “jeeb” option as there were a couple of items on the menu we really wanted to try and wern’t sure if it would come as part of jeeb. we ordered the falafel, fish and beef. the star definately being the fish which was awesome. we rounded the meal with knafeh which again was amazing. a good night all in all

felt like the entries were priced okay but everything else was way over priced. the food we tried was fine. nothing to complain about. but if you want anything with decent protein content expect to pay $35+..

i was in auckland for the long weekend and i had been told about this place. so glad i went there it was complete heaven for me.
after living in sydney for almost 4 years i became obsessed with lebanese cuisine and this definitely was up in my top 3.
we had the jeeb what if a defiant must.
the baba ghanoush was out of this world hands down the best i’ve ever tasted.
i wish they had a gemmayze in wellington i would be there every week!!
will most definitely be back in the future

on arrival i was greeted by the owner i advised her i have a reservation for 6pm
she responded with "you look like you're going to kill me"
i said excuse me? she said to her colleagues" take him away from me to a table immediately away from me" as she laughed, umm i don't quit get the joke.. all i can say is wow what a welcome! upon ordering the food the waiter did not write anything down so came to our table with the incorrect dishes we decided to eat them anyway so as not to waste time, however we did inform the server of the error so he is aware and can address this in the future however no apology was given.
overall the food that we were given even though incorrect from what we ordered was great, i feel they really have a number of things to work on i wont be back for this reason.

lebanese cuisine located in the hidden alleyway of kroad. its a hidden gem. seems like you are in a foreign country when you go to this restaurant. outdoor and indoor seating with beautiful interiors. cozy setting.

the food is tapas style but done the lebanese/mediterranean way. good for sharing! we ordered a few dishes and shared them. the flavours were soo good. they also serve lebanese wine. this place gets packed so be sure to book esp during the weekend.

the authentic lebanese food and wine was delicious and reminded me of my mother’s cooking. will definitely stop by again when i’m next in auckland.

one of the best vegetarian lebanese food i have had as tourist in auckland. different variety and flavours, limited menu, nice seating, quick and prompt service. anything and everything on the menu is worth trying. definitely a must try for every local and tourist.
