oh. my. god. best food i've had in years - i am not kidding.
i eat out quite a bit, and am usually disappointed. i cook reasonably well, at least enough so that most restaurant meals leave me thinking "i could have cooked this better myself". today's lunch atfundieswas a revelation. omg. those flavours!! i had a lentil and eggplant moussaka ... how do you get those flavours out of lentils, onions and tomatoes? and the salads ... i hate rocket (too bitter), don't love pear (too sweet) and not fussed on walnuts ... but the rocket, pear and walnut salad was utter heaven. the other salads were equally divine. i have no chance of cooking this kind of food. i am humbled and admonished. i am hanging up my hat, going to bed and dreaming of fundies.
i met the chef/cook briefly, and was astonished to find he did not, after all, glow like a god. i swear, the man is a genius. all of you at home watching masterchef and imagining the flavours ... do yourself a favour (*tips hat to molly meldrum*) and get thee to fundies, now!
(i actually had to stop at a library on the way home fromfundiesso i could write this review ... it couldn't wait any longer!)
