best bruschetta and creme brulee i have ever had in my life. creme brûlée is not always in dessert display so you may have to ask for it.

best food. before i changed jobs 3 years ago, we ate at the french pantry at least 3 days a week. we went there for years and swore that we would not tell anyone else how good it was because it was starting to get too crowded. of course, there is no way you can keep something this good underwraps.

friendly service is not their strong point. we would sometimes call to place an order to go only to be told " no way - we are too busy" and they'd hang up. they truly do not care if you get mad or not. in the beginning, you had to get there before 12:30 because they would often run out of food and just lock the doors.

at one point they did try and stay open for dinner but it did not last long. i think it was just too long of hours for such a small shop. back then it was just the husband and wife and 1 or 2 helpers - sometimes their son.

not sure if any of you remember the soup nazi" from seinfeld but that's what it reminded us of. the food is the best around so people will tolerate the unfriendly service, standing in line and crowded quarters without uttering a word. just place your order, wait for a seat to open up and smile like a cheshire cat while eating the best food you will find in jacksonville.

good food. i finally made it to this place today. i have heard talk of it for the 3 years i have been in jax. my bf and i shared the turkey, goat cheese & pesto sandwich and the parisienne french dip sandwich. both sandwiches were excellent. we decided to eat in. we were not happy with the service or the dessert though. they forgot to bring out bread for us. also after sitting with empty cups for about 10 mts i had to flag someone down to get more water for both of us. so the service sucks. i was a little ticked at this because we had tipped generously while paying at the register when ordering. we also had a napoleon for dessert. i was not at all happy with the napoleon. it was made with cool whip?!??!?? i was really expecting the napoleon to be authentic but it was far from it. so the service and dessert were huge let downs. the sandwiches were excellent though! next time i will just call in an order for the sandwiches and pick them up.

it lived up to the hipe. well i have read the reviews and even driven by the place and seen the lines. well today i got there early enough and a short line (10-12) people. so inside a ordered the hot itialian sandwich and a cheese tart for dessert. well while waiting for my sandwich i had a couple of bites of my dessert. oh my god thats was good. my new friends and table mates said this is what you do here. that way you get some of your tastie dessert before you are to full of your sandwich to eat your dessert. well talking to my tablemates they have been here many times and they spoke very highly of the place. well so do i now this place is well worth the wait and my sandwich was really good. the bread was alittle hard for my liking but it tasted really good. so all i can say is get there early and the food is really worth the wait. my if enough of us prey for a larger building they will find one.

you have got to be kidding me!. well after much prodding by my parents, my mother and i went there for lunch. omg! i had the turkey, w/ goat cheese and pesto. it is soo good i almost went back to get another to have later in the week for lunch, since we waited about 30 minutes to get our order. i also had a slice of the wedding cake, took a slice home and my fiance has confessed that he has fallen in love allll over again. nevertheless i would like to have that cake as my wedding cake, literally. if you havent gotten the chance to try the food , please do it is a hidden gem in jacksonville, florida that is worth the looking for.

tight but right. i have been wanting to try the french pantry for a while, i had heard that tim and barbara (from the original sliders and miramar 24 - remember when?) were the owners and i gotta say they still "got it". i had the french dip with a great au jus, the bread is amazing and the strawberry grandmariner cake with the cream cheese icing was the best. the place isn't very big or fancy and seating is tight but definitely a place to go for a great lunch!

italian heaven on a french baguette. ok so my buddy below jax food critic ate here earlier this week and it looked pretty good. a co-worker said she loves their food so we ordered lunch. i got the hot italian sandwich. that first bite was out of this world. i normally don't like bannana peppers but this sandwich was delicious. the prichutto and spicy mustard and other condiments just made the whole sandwich work. i bought a french baguette to take home because the fresh baked bread just called to me. i will be returning to try the rare roast beef next.

wonderful place to eat!! the wait was fair, but not bad since we were expecting it. got the rare roast beef and boursin and my sister got the parisian french dip. both were a little messy (we were trying to be polite to others seated at the table with us) but oh so delicious. we also shared a blueberry cheese tart. also very yummy. the food was enough to have leftovers for later. i have my eye on a salad or bruchetta on my next visit!

a hidden gem. the exterior is definitely deceiving (i think my sister put it best when she said the first time she drove up, she thought she was going to some warehouse where she would be coming out a kidney short), but the food is consistently fantastic and their desserts are not to be missed. the limited hours and usual wait time of 15-20 minutes can be a pain, but this is definitely a place that is worth the hassle.

more torte please!. we went over to a friend's house for dinner. to end a great dinner, he brought out a whole blueberry torte.

oh am geee!

this blueberry torte was phenomenal! the cream chese filling was perfectly smooth and not too sweet. the blueberries did not have a hint of annouying "sourness" to them; they simply accompanied the creamcheese very well. the crust was absolutely delicious. perfectly buttery, flaky and a hint of sweetness. to make the torte even better, they had white chocolate shavings covering the torte with powdered sugar.

my first bite was just an "eye closing and take a moment to breath" moment. simply delish, and a must get!

i can't wait to try the other items on the menu!

ingredients make this bruschetta the best. ingredients matter. french pantry seriously excels at bruschetta because the ingredients used are top shelf. to start, their french country bread is made to perfection. i order a special bruschetta they have comprised of applewood smoked bacon, fontina cheese, spinach, caramelized onions, drizzled with white truffle oil. the combination of sweet, salty, earthy and decadent is, simply put,a perfect calibration of everything you'd want bruschetta to be.

its large enough to take half home, for me. so forking over $10 is not so bad. the dish comes with a lovely dressed tomato and spring salad, adding a touch of freshness and acidity that rounds out this dish.
