awesome! super burgers. i will come back!

picked up a few cheeseburgers and tater tots for dinner. i really liked the location and the old set up. our burgers were fresh and flavorful, so were the buns which is major points for me. the service was lovely! i would definitely return and dine in next time.

we visited freiheit for the second time recently and had a great meal, yet again. great place with friendly folks and good food. check it out next time you’re in the new braunfels area.

simply an old establishment catering burgers and beer. the burgers are good as is the other items in the menu. don't expect gourmet or a twisted take in regular food. portions are large. music is offered weekly with options to buy advance tickets. occasionally a well know name will perform.

good funky country store and country comfort food. my old pal michael brought me here and we both had chicken fried chicken. it was good and the service was great. waitress was very attentive and on top of things. i had a couple of draught beers and a side of beans. reasonably priced and tasty!

i had been craving chicken fried steak all week. i order the chicken fried steak. ask for a side salad and a side of onion rings. onion rings cannot be ordered as a side with chicken fried steak. strike one. get the chicken fried steak. i think it was the worst chicken fried steak i've ever had. tough as leather. tasted like it had been cooked hours ago and heated in the micro wave. i was asked at the cash register how everything was. so i explained to the girl how bad everything was. she didn't say a word after that. not i'm sorry not anything. will not come here again.

excellent hole in the wall that you'd drive right passed if you weren't looking! hamburgers are delicious! i ordered the kerry and my hubs ordered the freiheit kerry which is just a bigger version! delicious and waiters friendly. very laid back!

fried pickles, fried okra, fried mushrooms were really great. we ordered the weinerschnitzel only to be surprised. we lived in germany for 10 yrs and freiheits has more of a tx chicken fried *twist* to it. not what we were expecting..staff was friendly.

i live an hour away from freiheit and i would drive that hour to eat here! their burgers are to die for and their sides are all amazing! also they have a great salad bar! the service isn't as attentive as they should be all the time and the seating can suck but otherwise it's always great food!

i wish i could give this place a score of 1, because i don't want other people crowding it!  but that would be very selfish given we don't live there anyway.  we stopped in on our way from austin to san antonio and had an awesome lunch.  don't miss the fried pickles.  the half pound burger was fantastic - get it on the sweet bun.overall a perfect spot other than the fact the wait for food was kind of long.  i think one of their cooks didn't show and they were upfront with us that food was taking quite a while.

freiheit country store. hells yeah i like it. eat there all the time. favorite place. ate there for lunch today. had the salad bar. it has almost as much on it as jason's deli for < half the price. that was one trip to the bar price with a huge deep plate. everything fresh. my husband had the chili. he liked it and said he would eat it again, although it was mild. he can throw on some jalapenos next time. their burgers have fresh ground daily meat. they are fresh, juicy and delicioso.
it's a family place. new braunfels family. all are welcome and mike and linda are making improvements all the time. if you want gourmet this ain't the place. if you want "old" new braunfels atmosphere relaxing in a joint with cold beer and good music without the crowds of "tourons" in the gruene and downtown arena this is about it.

disappointed to tears. the reviews were great so i decided to try this place. the staff are a bunch of kids acting like chickens with their heads cut off. our waiter was so stupid i had to slowly repeat and point at the menu to get him to understand my order. after staring at me blankly for quite a while, i repeated and pointed slower, making sure he got the order. he didn't know the menu, ended up giving us the wrong thing, never brought our sides, but since it took so damn long to get the food, i didn't care. the meat of the burger was so bland i wanted to cry. the wings came out fast because they were simply pre frozen... this place ruined my night. utterly disappointed in the rest of the misleading reviews. this place needs new management, and at least a slight care for the quality of food being produced.

case of the good burps!. not a lot of conversation going on during our lunch. we inhaled our cheeseburgers...the best we've found in nb so far. can't wait to go back for beer and music on the patio when the weather warms up. the very large serving of tots that came with our special were excellent also. left completely satisfied with our experience. had good burps all afternoon reminding us of our delicious lunch!

eat you burger and stand tall!. don't you just love these old tin roofed, barnwood sided, wood floored, animal heads on the wall, johnny cash juke box playing, feel necked if you donl't have your boots on, country burger and bar places?! well i do. and if you do too, you better enjoy it now.! it's a rather inconspicuous place on the edge of growing suburbia, probably soon to be swallowed by rampant development of the closeby !-35 corridor.

through the entrance and past the bar, we sat down near the juke box after a "sit anywhere you like" supposition was made from the mostly empty tabled dining room. the waitress appeared promptly and i got the first and most important order of business out of the way. . . shiner bock, please! the request was almost anticipated as if you were expected to place that very order for a long neck as the usual and "of course" customary thing to do.

as i pondered the menu, i began to wonder about the breeding stock of the human kind out this way. a couple of the waitresses had to be nie on to 6 feet tall. from what i could tell, the cook also loomed large in the kitchen window. something to do with the food consumption here and cooking oil in a place called "fry height"! h-m-m-m-m?

heard the fried mushrooms were good and placed an order with no concern for the heighth thing as i already stand tall at 6' 1". served 'em steamin' hot with a good cream gravy and cool ranch dressing. the battered beauties were as good as mama's makes, and that's damn good. homemade onion rings and fresh cut french fries made it to our table as well. the ffs were a little overdone, but the rings disappeared in a rapid succession of catsup spurts.

big ole sloppy burgers, 1/2 lb. of medium done beef with cheese and bacon all served on a hawiian bun. hawaiian bun! what in tarnation and new york city made them do that! it was actually pretty good as i did not taste any of the sweetness it was purported to have, or at least it was balanced out with the pickles and mustard on my burger.

this place defintely serves a burger that's good and plenty. throw in the atmosphere of a favorite ole run-down country joint, and you've got a restaurant that keeps 'em coming back. it's either that, or these goods folks and returning customers are hopin' to increase their fry heighth a couple more inches.

lightly breaded, pounded-thin beefsteak was coated in a well-seasoned crust and served crisp and hot. the fries were also hot and crisp, and the usual texas toast and cream gravy completed the plate. the portions were generous — almost to the point of being too large to finish. almost.
