'frat house' may be a new entrant to the ever buzzing gastropub circuit at sln terminus, but this newbie is bound to turn some headwinds when it comes to choosing a pub that serves delectable food along with groovy cocktails from across the globe. the pub has a chick urban decor paired with some brilliant lighting and soulful music that elevates the mood and sets you up for the gastronomic journey ahead.
we were invited for a food tasting session and review for the restaurant is as follows:
mocktails & cocktails:
'tiki tiki' was a well crafted tropical rum infused drink that had fruity notes to it.
athe 'berry cooler' had three types of berry juice mixed with fresh basil and lime water.
the 'kamakazi' was another groovy mocktail that paired vodka with triple sec and had a earthy flavour profile.
soups:
the roasted pumpkin soup had a creamy texture and an earthy yet mildly sweet flavour. the 'cauliflower and saffron soup' had the perfect balance of flavours enhanced by the richness of saffron.
appetisers & maincourse :
'street satty chicken' had chicken breasts braised with peanut sauce and grilled on a satay stick paired with a tangy spicy papaya salad. the 'beetroot peanut butter fried dumpling' had a sweet beetroot galauti served alongside a zesty tangy peanut chutney. the 'mutton sliders with cheese' had a beefy mutton patty inside a mini bun and loaded with cheddar cheese. the 'kafir lime pav bhaji' was an interesting take on the popular indian street food but with a dash of zest from kafir lime.
the 'murg malai meatballs' was tender and creamy and was a true treat to the senses.the 'pattahi noodles' were similar to pad thai but missed the crunch from the fried peanuts which hold the dish together. the 'siracha chicken wings' were red,hot and fiery. the 'goat cheese stuffed panko chilli' had a tad sourness from the goat cheese, well balanced by the heat of the red chilli, nicely wrapped in panko crums and deep fried to make it extra crispy. the 'sukka aloo gosht' had a burst of flavours and is a must order dish here. the 'confit chicken with ginger jus' was an extraordinary dish, the chicken legs were slow cooked in in its own fat which made it juicy from the inside and leaving a crispy skin on the top, the potato hash was creamy and well seasoned, overall the flavourful ginger jus brought the dish together. the 'lebanese platter' had a kofta kebabs paired with freshly baked pita bread served with hummus, baba ghanoush and tahini.
desserts:
to end the meal, we ordered some rum infused 'tiramis' and 'choco lava' cake.
