fete du croissant bust. i was very disappointed! we hit up 5 places, and only got served at 2 of them! fous desserts told us to come back in 30 min and when we did they said they ran out again (even though there were bags of croissants) and we’d have to wait 30 min, did we want to reserve... thanks for asking the first time! what's the point of hyping this festival and not serving people who actually show up (twice). best croissant was at le fromentier on laurier.

best chocolate almond croissant in the whole world, and i really hate exaggerating. le plateau, is filled with french bakeries, but fou dessert is the place that tops them all. i ordered a cafe latte made with fresh almond milk, and had to go for the chocolate almond croissant. it's scrumptious, it's heavy, it's filled with chocolate and almond paste, it's what a croissant should look and taste like. their products are also bio and always served fresh. you will enjoy your experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

i haven't tried the cakes but the croissants were spectacular.  as good as it gets in my opinion... the chocolatines were soo good, the chocolate was high quality (i think they use valhrona).  the almost paste they use in the almond croissant is super addicting, not too sweet and great almond flavor. only complaint i had is that the person behind the counter had a bit of an unpleasant attitude (might have been an off day..?).  in any case, will be back for sure for the croissant and will try out the desserts.

d went for an afternoon snack with the best friend, k. d&k decided to go crazy on cakes. we both took 2 each! d also wanted the matcha latte. we made a great decision. the cheese cake was creamy but light. the chocolate raspberry cake was made of dark chocolate but balanced with the raspberry sauce. the passion fruit cake is perfect by the time you finish a heavy meal as it is slightly sour and can lighten up your taste buds. the rose cake was d's favorite! it is surrounded with a cake of pistachio and a light rose mousse and jam inside. the matcha latte was slightly sweeten and bitter. d like it.

we waited 40 minutes outside in the cold. no one told us it was sold out until we went in the store.
once inside, they told us we had to wait another 45 minutes to get croissants.
really bad customer service.

fous truck puts together some of the best croissants in montreal. to be honest, i haven't tried a croissant that combines a crisp exterior and delicately moist interior. it was the perfect balance, absurd that a croissant can be so intricate, but the fous truck's croissants really are a sensory experience. you've got a bunch of options for fillings, including the ocean, with salmon, or the mediterranean with ricotta cheese and roasted tomatoes. the options are endless, and overall you'll be pleased. did someone just put pomegranate and balsamic vinegar on my take-away salad? if you haven't been to fous truck, go and try it out! 86 % jean-phillipe chartier a writer, designer, artist, foodie and enthusiast living in montreal, canada. you may also like... 0 free beaver tail day in montreal 22 jul, 2014

the re-launch of the montreal street food scene one year ago has translated into a successful endeavor that is now a fixture of the city. this year more food trucks have been introduced and are scattered around the city for montrealers (and we suppose lavalers) to enjoy. if you can’t track down a truck on your lunch break or on weekends, don’t fret. you can take part in first fridays, which happens every first friday of the month at the esplanade sun life financial at the olympic stadium. all the food trucks gather at the pavilion for your convenience and over-indulgence! last year the divas sampled many of the trucks while they were gathered in the quartier des spectacles during the just for laughs festival and created a montreal food trucks 2013 guide .

i went to the baked goods display and spotted croissants, pain au chocolat, little chocolate cakes, muffins and other goodies. i decided to have a croissant but didn’t have enough cash so i picked up a tin of chocolat chaud to justify a credit card purchase. after making my

specializing in delectable croissants, fous desserts had several options to choose from. after scanning the menu, we knew we couldn’t go wrong with the trio, which included a drink and dessert. we opted for the club “bft”, which featured bacon, swiss cheese, tomatoes and seasoned mayo in a soft and flakey croissant, along with jasmine tea, infused with fresh quality herbs. for dessert, we ordered the “orange zest” pastry, as well as the chocolate brownie. after the first bite, it was clear the croissant lived up to the hype– with a soft and flaky texture, it was naturally flavourful and instantly melded with the freshness of the tomato and swiss cheese. the subtle sweetness from the jasmine tea complemented the delectable taste of the bft. in terms of desserts, the brownie had a fresh and homemade quality to it– dry on the outside, but on the inside, full of creamy chocolatey goodness. the orange zest cookie lived up to its name and was a tangy treat. with high quality taste and fres

montreal: you’ve come a long way, baby. when i lived in vermont from 1988 to 1999, i made many trips to montreal in desperate search for more diverse food. my typical day might include the mandatory smoked meat sandwich at schwartz’s, dinner and grocery shopping in chinatown, and the pick-up of a couple of bags of bagels from fairmount bagel. during those years, the dining scene wasn’t especially sophisticated. nor was my palate. far too many miles from montreal now, i rarely get back. so when a recent business trip to upstate new york gave me montreal as a choice of airports, i pounced on the opportunity to pay a visit. food choices are now far more fabulous. needless to say, i stuffed myself silly, sloshing through the snow and sacrificing my stomach to make the most of my very limited time in the city. the result: i have recommendations of restaurants and more for an idyllic day of eating in this special city. breakfast whatever time you wake up, know that bagels are waiting. both f

almond croissant &... despite the fact that the almond croissants at fous desserts aren't quite consistent in quality, they are still, by far, the best i've had in montreal~

(also love mamie clafoutis's pistachio+almond croissant ummm.)

also got some decent choice in cakes (i used to love ida), and during summer times the strawberry+basil ice cream, my oh my╮(╯▽╰)╭.

montreal eats featured below are some of our montreal eats, excluding our three dinners at garde manger, les 400 coups (best meal of the trip) and joe beef. i will apologize in advance for the lack of photos in the actual restaurants or of missing food items, either in my excitement, laziness, my distracting bellyache or for consideration of other diners (due to lighting issues, my persistent flash could not have always been welcome). i hope you enjoy what i have here and stay tuned for my dinner posts coming soon! 1. schwartz's montreal deli (3895 boulevard saint-laurent, montreal ) our very first stop in montreal, we had to get our hands on some smoked meat. as my boyfriend and i are huge fans of katz's deli in nyc, it only made sense to go straight to this montreal institution. we arrived late afternoon, so lucky for us we did not have to wait in any lineup (which i hear is often very long). we ordered two medium fat sandwiches (in hindsight, i should have probably ordered fat) but
