despite our food taking too long, it gets my vote.. this is the first review i have ever written, i apologize if its not in the proper format or too lengthy. i went to fork and spoon for the firsttimein a couple years this past sunday. we sat in the back of the restraurant, where it is obvious that there is a table or two too many, its rather crowded. the place was full, and we expected the food to come out slow. what we didn't expect was for it to take 40 minutes. normally that would be a guess, as i don't often pay attention to time, but we were going to a movie next door, so we were watching ourtimeclosely. our waiter did a great job of keeping in contact with us, and apologizing for the wait. he brought us free muffins and bread slices, kept our drinks filled, and we could tell that he was very on top of things. he was aware that we were probably going to miss our movie, and looked up the next showing at another theater for us, that we were able to make it to on time. i think his name was john, but i could be mistaken. he had dark hair and a goatee, and is the main reason i gave the fork and spoon the benefit of the doubt on this one occasion. he promised us that normally food comes out on time, and that this was the exception, not the rule.
although the kitchen took way too long to make our food, it was pretty darn good once we got it. my club sandwich was very tasty and it was absent mayonnaise just like i requested. all four of us were happy with our food and were able to enjoy it, thanks to our waiter finding us a latertimefor our movie, and at a far superior movie theater.
i decided to test the waiters promise and came back to fork and spoon yesterday for breakfast. the food was very good, it took under 10 minutes to make and deliver, and the service was friendly and efficient, although i do have some advice. keep the red-head in the bakery. she seems to be a good intended person and worker, but is a tad scary. she lacked any people skills, and while she would be roaming the tables that didn't need assistance, people would be waiting for a table or baked goods in the bakery. my waitress (on this occasion), and waiter (on the previous occasion) were taking care of me just fine, and it was unnecessary and quite annoying that she kept asking if i'd like my completely full coffee re-filled. the establishment is better served with her seating tables and selling baked goods.
i understand that new ownership has taken over and there are kinks to be worked out, perhaps this review can help shed some light on how to do so. but make no mistake, our waiter saved the day and is the only reason i gave the fork and spoon a second chance, and i'm glad i did.
