flying fish public market & grill

not very good....poor value. had lunch recently...no sushi at lunch...no oysters..basically nothing that would be considered the least bit original.

server was fun and very professional. hostess looked and acted as if she had just lost her family in a house fire...not to mention she showed us to our table at a pace that would qualify for an olympic gold medal...ummm....can you see the 86 yr old man trying to keep up ??? the reason her pace was stupid...is that the 86 year old man is very wealthy...has wealthy friends...belongs to several dining out groups...and would not recommend this restaurant because of the rediculous pace of the hostess. silly things like that can have a huge affect/effect on your business. how is the servers are so well trained...and the hostess is a complete disinterested amature ??

view was terrific...food mediocre at best...don't go at lunch if you want seafood choices. smoked fish dip was decent...blackened grouper sandwich was horribly oily...using that fake butter crap for the blackening process...even after i asked the the fish be blackened dry.

overall..nice view..great servers...awful hostess...mediocre food....poor value.

sit by the windows overlooking waterway and watch the boats. great wedge salad for five dollars and change. good deal. great seafood per my family but great other choices for non seafood eaters such as myself! kiss the fish for 10% off of your bill but beware. he's ugly!!!!! lol

cfinn. we went to the flying fish public market and grill last weekend during happy hour. arriving early with my wife's parents we were surprised to find it so crowded. my father-in-law is in a wheel chair and it was difficult to get a table that was accessible due to the multiple floors and only a few tables on the main floor. told of a 30-45 minute wait due to this was discouraging. after asking if we could sit at a booth the hostess was very accomodating and we were seated in the corner by the bar.

the bar/happy hour menu was very good and we decided to have apps and soup. the apps were excellent and priced at $5, a deal. i had the tuna roll and we shared the crab sticks and calamari. drinks were also priced well. the liberty brewing co. beer was great.

the only complaint we have other than the handicap accessibility is the noise. maybe it was the corner we were in or just the bar in general but we could not hear each othe unless we yelled. the noise level will certainly cause us to reconsider going again unless we just wanted to sit at the bar and have drinks.

love it. have eaten here tthree times this summer and heard good reviews from friends. liked the fish taco, hot shrimp appetizer, and fish entrees. also like to be able to sit at the spacious bar and either eat from the happy hour menu or the regular menu.

top notch.... i cant say enough good things about this place, great food, great menu, i've never taken so long trying to decide on what to order. i'm going back this week because there are so many things i didn't get to try this time. and the happy hour menu with food and drink specials is just awesome! this has to be one of the best happy hour spots in myrtle now...really. the wait staff was great as well, very friendly and never left us waiting and we had a table of 10...very impressive. family friendly too, take the kids over and let them watch the crew throw some fish or throw one yourself, pretty cool.
and to top it all off, they have a manager named, you ready for this....james bond!!...what more can you ask for people?!?! seriously, when you get a chance, check this place out...you wont be disappointed.

great seafood. one of the tbonz restaurant group places that seem to have the myrtle beach area covered with some of the better restaurants (according to urbanspoon ratings). this one lived up to its promise. outstanding restaurant with a great menu. excellent service and food with great atmosphere and setting. our dinner included sushi, seared ahi tuna, corn and crab chowder and the flying fish specialty which is a beer boiled seafood crab pot item. the fish is certainly fresh and on display in the cases next to the open kitchen. my ten year old got a kick out of watching the staff throw whole fish around ala pike place in seattle (to name one of many others). everything was prepared exceptionally well and if i had any complaint it would be that the items were brought to the table too quickly; had not finished the food course before each new item was brought. highly recommended place.

great fish entrees. big portions. could not finish the fried flounder and i'm a big eater. expect about 20 bucks per person. very clean place.

delicious. try the bleu cheese sweet potato fries! i will try to recreate in at home but i know it will not turn out the same. service was great, too.

don't bother if you or anyone else does not eat seafood. while the atmosphere is nice, that is about the only positive. we went as a group of about ten people and some do not eat seafood. while skimming the menu, you will instantly notice that there is very little for people who are not seafood friendly, myself being one of those people. while i cannot speak for the quality of the seafood, i can honestly say that their other options absolutely suck. their "top" sirloin required a chainsaw to cut through, and was way overcooked. on top of the crappy non-seafood items, the service was slow and most people did not seem happy. we might have gone on an off night, but we definitely will not be returning. oh, the drinks are pretty cheap too, but you get what you pay for there as well.

family. went to eat lunch with my sisters at the flying fish grill,had a wonderful time. the food was delicious and the presentation of the food was beyond expectations. the staff was pleasant and well prepared to answer question about the menu. enjoyed the part of getting to throw the fish and watching others as well. what away to spend a lunch or dinner and enjoy laughter and time spent with family or friends in a fun filled atmosphere. loosen up get rid of the stress and throw a fish!!!!!!!

fabulous. our family (all locals) visited on clearly the busiest night of the year (sat. 7/3/10)--waited 10 minutes and were served professionally and quickly. the food is fantastic--the best! the bar is great. the kitchen is in clear view and believe me these people are serious about their seafood, its preparation and presentation. can't wait to go back asap. our new favorite restaurant.

started with mai tai's and pina colada's while we waited. had the seafood nachos as an appetizer. wife had grouper sandwich "was ok" as she filled up on nachos and piña colada. i enjoyed the snow crab meal with potatoes and sausage. kids menu is available!

fantastic experience. went to "flying fish" in north myrtle. we have been here "2 years" now and it was one of our favorite times. we sat at the bar with many locals, had 4 appitizers at happy hour and a few house drinks! what a fabulous menu, delicious food and the service was 100% "the best" in this area! the bartenders were great and you could tell they love their jobs!!!! we cannot wait to go back to have dinner. saw them being served and the portions as the appitizers were....are huge. thank you flying fish for the entertainment, too. the fish do fly there. all around it was a great night out!

i love more everytime i come back. i got really upset when i saw the bad review below, because i never had any kind of bad experience in any of my visits so i decided to come share my thoughts about that place.
the flying fish is one of my favorites restaurants in myrtle beach. great food, great servers, management is always making sure you are happy with the food and the service, making you feel special. they have an awesome happy hour and everytime you go there you will have a blast.
the throwing fish is my favorite part, to see the whole restaurant screaming and cheering is great, nobody can throw a fish without a smile on the face.
so you should totally go check it out.
