the restaurant was completely empty and they wanted my party of six to sit in the bar area. the portions were tiny and very overpriced. our waitress had no personality. i was so disappointed. i had wanted to try it for some time. i would not recommend fluke.

best seafood restaurant in newport. my favorite restaurant in newport. and the cocktails are unique and wonderful too. try the monkfish. go!

i had a screwdriver and a grapefruit drink with real fruit! then the fish chowder! best food in all of newport! great place for a couple or you can chill upstairs and have a little party.  best location, great prices, fine dining, excellent entre and going to see how the rest of them are.  thanks best restaurant in the wharf in newport rhode island.

fluke is a relaxed, elegant dining experience. the space is bright and decorated with original art. the food is fabulous and service attentive without hovering. we ordered small plates and a salad and were wowed by the flavors and presentation. great place and worth the price for a special occasion. truly great food, thoughtfully prepared.

bad menu. i've been to fluke in the past and liked their food. however, they have drastically changed their menu to the point where the only good dish they had was sold out for the evening. i occasionally enjoy something new, but i wasn't in the mood for rabbit or quail.

rude manager made this a terrible stop. overpriced food. terrible service. food that was adequate at best. the manager made our visit absolutely terrible -- incredibly rude! and the rudeness extended to many of the staff. we paid $36 for a piece of cod that looked and tasted like they bought it from the frozen food dept at costco. do yourself a favor and avoid this place. much better options available in newport.

emily was a wonderful waitress... the drinks and food were amazing. however, the manager came to the table before we received our check and mentioned that we had overstayed our welcome and needed to wrap things up as he had guests waiting to be seated. when called out on his inappropriate behavior, he was defensive and brought our check immediately. needless to say, a wonderful evening was cut short by a sour man in khakis..

nice atmosphere. food was good, ordered cheese and meat plate that was very good and came with bountiful toasted bread.
waitress was pretty flat...no real emotion or caring. pricey but decent.

poorly cooked steak (x2), cold food. our experience was just like the last reviewers:

we called to say we would be a few minutes late and a rude hostess neglected to tell us what we later learned from our terrific waitress that we could have parked next to fluke and had our parking validated. oh well.

when we arrived, the service was good. we were satisfied with our drinks. we liked the mussels, were surprised to pay $7 for a thimble of olives and marcona almonds (although they were both delicious), and were disappointed with the arugula salad, which seemed pedestrian and through which we had to dig to find any ham or grapes.

we were looking forward to our scallops and strip steak entrees. we ordered the strip steak medium rare, just like the other reviewer. when our food arrived, it looked terrific. the scallops were well cooked though there were some cold things on the plate. the steak, however, was not cooked right. the medium rare steak was medium well. it was cold, so cold that the butter on top did not melt at all. we were reluctant to send it back, but the waitress seemed as surprised as we were that the meat was both cold and overcooked and encouraged us to send it back.

that's when the meal really fell apart. they left the scallops on the table for 20 minutes while they were "refiring" the steak. we were surprised that a restaurant of this caliber did not offer to at least remove my girlfriend's scallops and keep them warm. they brought the steak back after 20 minutes while i was away from the table in the restroom. we were also surprised that they would set down a plate i had sent back while i was away from the table. i returned after just a minute and this time the steak was warm (though the butter still was not melted) and i was excited (and hungry) to eat my medium rare steak. to my surprise when i cut the steak in half, it was this time well-- perhaps even overdone-- not anything close to medium rare. there was no pink meat anywhere on the steak.

i informed the waitress but by this point my girlfriend's scallops were cold and we were both hungry so i picked at the overcooked steak.

while we were waiting for the steak to come back, the very nice waitress sesemed to be offering to compensate me for the inconvenience with a glass of wine. imagine my surprise when both the incorrectly cooked steak and the wine appeared on the check. i had to speak to the manager, who rudely informed me she had seen the steak (before i cut it) and thought it was cooked properly but she did eventually remove the steak from the check. we will not return to this restaurant next time we are in newport, though we had high hopes for it and appreciated the service.

cold food and management!. dinner with my wife started out ok, i have to say the drinks were good and my mussell app. was great. dinner arrived cold, my strip steak and the sides were cold as was my wife's scallops. (but the fries were hot)? my wife was not offered to have her dish taken back while my entree was being corrected so we ate the cold scallops while i waited for my entree. when i sent my dish back due to being a $34 cold strip steak with cold cream kale and cold sauteed onions on top; the original steak came back still sliced where i had checked it, looked microwaved and was now overcooked of course. when i asked for the manager he did not offer to refire the steak as would be proper but asked what else would i like. i asked why i could not have a properly cooked steak. he became very noticeably irritated at that point and said the we were showing aggression. ( i really only wanted a warm , medium rare strip steak with warm sides!) he actually said that they come with the pre sauted cold onions on top! i just had to leave at that point. my wife asked the waitress if there was a way we could speak to the owner as we left due to the poor customer service from the manager but was told that he was the owner!
i always though it is proper service procedure in a restaurant of this price point to 1. always satisfy the customer - don't argue 2. when a dish has an issue, take both parties dish back, re-fire and correct the issue. back to training for you!

great location... interesting drinks. stopped by for a couple of small plates and drinks at the upper level bar. great service and atmosphere.

excellent steak and appetizers were delicious especially croquettes, crostini, buckwheat crepe (sounds like i ate a lot but i was sharing with friends). desserts were to die for(cheesecake and the pumpkin creme brûlée). i highly recommend it.

met the owner serving crab cakes at seafood fest in newport and the guy was a complete jerk. ignored a line of people to talk with his friend. who wears a suit to the seafood fest anyway? guy didn't even look any of us in the eye. i'll skip the restaurant in the future just because of the smug cocky representation.
