flour and chocolate patisserie http://www.flourandchocolate.com.au/ this is the story of just what length i would go to for good food. i follow flour and chocolate on instagram and their feed is like baking inception for my mind. every day, i log on and check their uploads and get drawn in by tantalizing photos of freshly baked brownies, golden cronuts (they call them gonuts) and sugar-crusted donuts. seeing them on screen is one thing. actually buying them is a whole other ball game. i was most interested in the donuts and gonuts and these are made on wednesday and thursday respectively. furthermore, due to demand they tend to be sold out quite early on so you aren't guaranteed anything. it was a work of tactics and timing to score what i wanted. flour and chocolate is located on wynnum road in morningside, which is a bit of a drive for me, made worst by the fact that it's not really on the way to or from anywhere else that i go to. i made a special trip there last week after learning on the down low through instagram that they would be making donuts on friday as well. it was quiiiiittteee an adventure. imagine driving through east brisbane opposite morning peak traffic, which would have been fine if i didn't miss a turn and then have to go with the peak traffic for a block. argh, what a nightmare. i finally got to flour and chocolate and was soothed by its welcoming glow and racks upon racks of baked goods. there was a slight queue but it was actually an ideal wait because it allowed me some time to decide what i wanted to buy. when it was my turn to order, i had a clear idea and chose a couple of donuts, a savoury tart and a flourless brownie. vanilla custard and salted caramel filled donuts there's no space to eat food on the premise so i unraveled my goodies in my car and scoffed down half a donut right then and there. i tried the vanilla custard-filled donut for myself. the donut part was soft and fluffy with just the right amount of chew. bite shot of custard

went here during an impromptu visit in the area and felt almost obliged to visit due to the high ratings on zomato.

following a recommendation from a friend who works nearby, i bought the small flourless cake. it was not too sweet, pleasant chocolate flavour with a good crunch of toffee.

busy shop. casual ambience. friendly staff.

a lovely little bakery and patisserie. will be back to try other goodies.

amazing food & service. my friend and i popped in to grab some treats on our way home from a bridal shopping day and i am so glad we did! the owners were so lovely and welcoming and the food instore just looked amazing. i picked up a raspberry friand and a couple of caramel brownies. as we were leaving, the owner gave us a parmier each for free to thank us for trying their store.

my fiancee and i went through all of the treats pretty darn quickly because they were just so so good. i will definitely be returning!

wonderful. having discovered this little treasure only a few weeks ago, we have since been frequent visitors. the owners are lovely. just goes to show that if you offer genuine customer service & a superior product, you can charge a premium & people still flock, happily.

flour & chocolate is really the reason we go over the river at all, because they have, unequivocally got the very best croissants in all of brisbane. controversial! i know, but that’s the truth. i’ve been all over town looking for these babies, trust me. i have left no bakery unturned. and they come in the most amazing flavours too! it’s not traditional, i know, but the chocolate and coconut tastes like the glorious love-child of a bounty and a croissant, and if that’s wrong, then i don’t want to be right.       they also have amazing donuts and a whole boatload of other deliciousnesses at flour & chocolate. i actually legitimately looked into movin

loved their croissants and donuts. and make sure that you go early if u want anything good, cuz they sell fast. they only do doughnuts and cronuts on wednesdays and thursdays which is a bit disappointing. but if you have the chance make sure you get some.

absolute gem of a place. just saw they've actually taken up the 2nd spot for highest rated places on zomato and well deserved. this place never disappoints with quality and consistency. must try: pistachio eclair, croissants (any type) and brownie. the lemon meringue tart and chocolate cake were nice but didn't stand out as much as the other pastries.

went on a wednesday and got rhubarb danish , lavender chocolate donut, and fresh cream salted caramel donut( forgot to take a photo)
best danish ever had , rhubarb and custard balanced perfectly well with crispy pastry
the donuts were pretty average to be honest, but many different flavors to choose from

loved the huge almond/ chocolate/ special nutella croissants and the cheap ($2!) bagels. eclairs are a bit too sweet but still delish! been there for 4 times in the last few months. have to come back for more. i lost count how many times i’ve been to this place. their recently opened northgate cafe is even more vibrant. make sure you’re early so you can still enjoy the popular almond croissants/hazelnut croissants/eclairs/quiches/fruit tarts/ focaccia 😁.

i went there on good advice from my sister on a cool morning on the hunt for the best sausage roll in brisbane with sourdough bread to take home and enormous array of hand made fresh pastries all in brisbane. so yes i crossed the river and she was right i had found the bomb. the mother of all french pastries and cakes bagels and sourdough. we divide into the sausage rolls first.... absolutely incredible!!!! the pastry so buttery, so light crispy and melt in your mouth deliciousness!!! yes i have finally found the best in brisbane. once u have had one of these, the rest just can’t stand up!!!
the raspberry velvet bar was a sweet cake light a light pound, with fresh berries hidden in the first layer so when bitten in you have the sharpness of the cream cheese frosting the the sweet cake followed by the taste of the fresh very all in one bite, very good. the bagels were selling at hot cakes listed on a page were u could see what had sold out mine was very good not like a traditional jewish new york bagel i have tried but really excellent.
so to some it up the best in the business
worth the drive across the river!!!
a definite must to return... hint get there early!!! this place sells like a shop i’ve never seen before in this area of brisbane, set the alarm clock and bring a friend the coffee shop next door is excellent so u can sit and devour your tasty morsels!!!!jamiesgirl

a very popular bakery/patisserie located in morningside. this bakery has plenty of baked goods ranging from croissants (around $5) to slices of cake ($7). flour & chocolate offers a very tempting and mouthwatering range of sweet and savoury goods. on this trip we ordered two cakes - passionfruit & red velvet. both cakes were very delicious but i much preferred the red velvet. the cakes are the perfect sweetness and have a very fluffy texture. the price point is quite average for similar types of bakeries. i would like to return and possibly try some of the croissants and other flavours of cakes next time.

should be noted that this is simply a bakery/patisserie not a cafe and does not provide seating.

the quiche is very flavourful, i can taste the layers of ingredients combined in it. it was not heated but was still amazing. it must be even better if it just came out from the oven.

fruit tart is also delicious, not too sweet. the fruit, cream and crust were all well made.

only chocolate cake was ok, it did not blow my mind.
