great burger. there are two foods in this world that i consider myself as being an unquestioned afficianado; burgers and dogs....and well, i guess pizza also. as far as burgers go, this is a very good representation of what one should be.
the place is in a strip center on north rock road and unlike some of the best burgers i have ever had, this isn't in a run-down, walk-up window order shack. the exterior is inviting, as far as strip malls go, and that is carried over to the inside where the decor is understated with black and white pictures of soda bottles and soda related items hung in black frames and black and white matting. i appreciate that it isn't an assault on the senses with old bicycles, canoes, and sports equipment hanging from every possible empty space. it clearly conveys what they are about. kudos also for having a kitchen that is open and visible. it shows that they are proud of what they do and how they do it not to mention how cleanly they do it.
the wait staff were cheery and accomodating and did a great job of taking care of us without seeming intrusive.
a plus for me is that you can order your burger plain or you can get as much on it as you desire, including items not normally found at other burger joints.
i had the boursin burger and added bacon. i saw on the menu that you could also get cambazola. who else has that? my wife had the spicy burger, we were both much impressed with the flavor combinations of these specialty burgers, but also the juicy beef done just right. i had the regular fries and my wife had the sweetpotatofries with all of the dipping sauces. now i like sweetpotatofries, but the large amount that you get caused her to get tired of them and start stealing my fries. of the dipping sauces, the only one i would for sure order again was the spicy ketchup. the roasted garlic aioli was good, but it was only a maybe on an eventual reorder. the pecan sauce with the sweetpotatofries was good, but not something that i would order with a burger very often.
all in all, we loved the place. our 10 year old son is a burger nut and we plan on taking him to fizz because we know he will love it. my only complaint is the price. it is a bit pricy, but when it now costs $7 a person to eat at mcdonalds. then fizz's quality seems like a relative bargain. like another reviewer said, i wish the fries came with the burger and not another $2+ more. but, like i said, we will be going back and i know we will enjoy it again. next time i won't get too full to try the cake balls.
