skimpy. i've had good experiences here in the past, but this time i ordered the spanish breakfast and it was a joke how littlefoodthey brought out. i was hungry two hours later. fried fingerlings? the equivalent of one fingerling potato. if its on the large plate section, it should be a meal.

best pork ever!. the pork porterhouse is the best piece of pig i have ever eaten! upscale and atmospheric. if you want cheapfoodgo to mcdonalds and sit on their molded plastic chairs and good on you saving a couple of dollars. if you like flavor with your meal make reservations at the 5&10.

terrible service, foodmarginal at best. parking is a pain. dining off bar area is loud, acoustics were never considered. this was our second visit, i think there are several other locations in athens for a better meal and dining experience.

came here for brunch around 11am and it wasn't busy. i made reservations before hand which was a good idea because we were seated quickly and the service was timely.
thefoodwas very good and the little strawberry cakes provided before the meal were complimentary and delicious.
i had the spanish breakfast. everything was superb. the sausage with the eggs and bread were wonderful.

i definitely recommend this place for brunch. it's even within a college budget!

5&10 used to be my all time favorite go to restaurant in athens. in a sea of low cost, low rent college pubs and fast food, 5&10 beat all with their well executed entrees and tasty cuisine. however, over the last couple of years it's gotten very disappointing. each time we've gone lately we've just left unhappy. the service is super pretentious and cold. they've moved and although parking has always been an issue the new location is actually worse. with more space inside they've crammed the tables full and we could have joined in our neighbors conversation during dinner....awkward. the menu changes very little, and the specials are boring. on our last visit there was no red meat option. my husband is a steak every night sort of man and i've never been to a five star without at least a filet on the menu. $200 dinner and we left feeling not only literally hungry, but hungry for the old 5&10. for instance we ordered the full cheese plate and all that was brought were the three cheeses 4slices of pear and a drizzle of apple butter. c'mon guys really. what happened to the usual accompaniments? we miss them. the quality offoodis still phenomenal (we really enjoyed our food) but the experience and feeling of fulfillment just isn't here and for the cost it really should be.

thefoodwas average at best. we went there for sunday brunch and the salad was over salted to the point of being inedible and the shrimp and grits with shiitake mushrooms didn't work.

top chef master hugh acheson sprang to fame in 2000 when he opened 5 & 10 in athens, georgia. named for the old five & dime that was housed in the same space, his french inspired southern cuisine launched him to the realm of celebrity chef. on tv his affable humor, obvious intelligence, and yes the proud unibrow has made him afoodtv fan favorite. the girl and i first met him in march of 2012 when he wowed us in a paired dinner for charleston wine andfoodfestival . it only took us 13 years, but we finally made the drive down to athens to try 5 & 10, in its brand new digs in an old antiques shop, and the place is impressive. set among some of the more stately fraternity houses i've ever seen (the university of georgia apparently thought chef hugh's cooking is so good it moved in next door), 5 & 10 features a massive porch, a beautiful bar, several small dinning rooms, and it's own coffee bar. and they have palms in the bathtub  the menu is very representative of chef hugh's new south

good food, lacking service.. five and ten - i really want to say this is one of the best restaurants that i've ever been to, but i simply can't. thefoodwas phenomenal, and very much was on par with other acclaimed restaurants such as chris hasting's hot and hot or frank stitt's highland's bar and grill . however, the service left a lot to be desired.

i came to five and ten, because i wanted to experience the best restaurant in athens before i moved for the city from good. i came on a weeknight fairly late and chose to sit at a half empty bar. the bar staff was polite, promptly handed me a menu and a glass of water which was fine. however, after taking my order i was promptly forgotten.

i ordered a drink which, the bar staff checked my identification for. the bar tender was wholly unaware of my drink order and i had to request it again. on the arrival of my entrée, and proceeded to ask every guest with the exception of myself, and only acknowledged my attempts to catch their attention guest when another guest pointed it out.

part of the dining at a restaurant of the caliber is very much the experience and unfortunately the service i received was more in line with what i expect from a 15 dollar meal at applebees, not a 70 dollar dinning at an award winning restaurant.

great food, but high price. i really enjoy going to this restaurant, but i do not go too often because it is expensive. all thefoodis very fresh with unique recipes, but because of this, to some, the menu may seem limited.

it's a great place to go on a date! when i go, i usually like to start with the cheese plate. for dessert, i would recommend the creme brulee if they have it on the menu.

this is an athens institution and has pioneered thefoodscene. the atmosphere is charming and honestly a great place for a special occasion and definitely a place to impress a date. if you're not familiar with new cuisines take advantage of their prix fixe menu which changes weekly and is a great deal as well.

bad service. great food, but the waiter unfortunately ignored us. a good experience equals goodfoodand good service. i would like to tell that waiter “to never judge a book by its cover” he got it wrong. we still tipped him 15%, but not a penney more, and it cost the restaurant two loyal customers.

a little badfoodfor a lot of money. these folks should really be ashamed. i have eaten at all kinds of restaurants and this one really takes the cake. when i ordered the ribeye, i thought it would be a piece of meat. instead i got about 4 oz of sliced mystery meat that had no taste at all. never in my life have i felt robbed at a restaurant until i made the mistake of dining here. needless to say, i won't be back.

ok food, noisey, jammed up. thefoodis pretty good but for a total dining experience the five & ten is an overpriced disappointment. acoustics are terrible and you are jammed up close to other tables and have no privacy. parking is a nightmare. i have been several times expecting a wonderful meal and have left disappointed. i understand they are relocating and hopefully the parking, acoustics and room between tables will be better. if so it will be a far better dining experience.

down-home southern goodness!. during my four years in undergrad, i never made it out to five & ten. returning as a grad student, i knew that i had to head out and try it as an avid fan of hugh acheson from his stints on top chef as well as his phenomenal restaurant empire state south. i was not disappointed!! this brunch was the perfect relaxing sunday after a fun-filled game day. the atmosphere is eclectic and lovely and thefoodis phenomenal! from the mini biscuits and coffee cake we started with to my 5&10 benedict, everything was unique, perfectly prepared and wonderfully presented. we were so pleased with our experience we just had to share dessert - coconut cake with banana icecream. heaven on a plate! can't wait to return to five and ten! thanks for a great experience and amazing food!

forgettable. meal was anything but fantastic. have been to empire state south in atlanta and highly recommend you go there for the best of mr. acheson's cuisine.

great bread, drinks and ceasar salad. also highly recommend the tiramisu.

however, my lamb was barely warm and very rare. i am not one of those people who likes overdone, chewy gray meat-- medium rare steaks are great and so is carpaccio--and this was deep purple, chewy and not appetizing at all. i asked for my entree cooked at medium temperature. i didn't bother sending my dish back because a fellow diner sent his back (also rare and cold) and it didn't come back cooked much more. cut of meat was also quite fatty and small. definitely not worth the $28+ entree price.

thankfully, dessert was excellent and filling after the "miss" of an entree. there are much better restaurants in athens that serve more outstandingfoodwith a much better price tag.
